Buyer seeing a different price - doesn't match my offer
Summary: john_koenig99 encountered an issue where a buyer from the UK saw a price 20% higher than the agreed offer for a watch. The buyer chose direct shipping, and the discrepancy appeared before checkout. flipistics suggested that the 20% sales tax in the UK might account for the difference in the displayed price.
I just encountered a new situation (new to me, anyways). A buyer from the UK made an offer for one of my watches, I made a counter offer and he agreed to it but...The price he sees does not match the amount of the offer. It is, in fact, 20% higher (19.99%, to be accurate).
What could account for the difference? Taxes and/or fees? But how come the higher price appears before checkout is completed? (also before shipping - the buyer chose direct shipping through X-Press Post, and not eIS; I explained that taxes and duty will be charged, in addition, but he's okay with it.).
Any insight will be appreciated.

·2 weeks agoThe UK has 20% sales tax which must be shown to the buyer in the displayed price, so that's almost certainly what they're seeing.

OP2 weeks agoCopy that. I had no idea that it would be shown directly in the price, as opposed as being shown in the break down, at checkout.
