Buyers from the United States not able to purchase from Canadian seller after winning auction?
Summary: The discussion centers on an issue where buyers from the United States are reportedly unable to purchase items from a Canadian seller after winning an auction. Various participants, including naturelover55 and recped, engage in dialogue to address and possibly resolve the issue, though no specific solutions or outcomes are detailed in the conversation. Several participants, such as flipistics and jtg204, also contribute, but the details of their input are not provided.
I've had 2 buyers from the United States over the past 10 days claim that they're not able to pay for an item after winning an auction. I have no idea what's going on here.
Has anyone else had this issue?聽 This has never been an issue in the past.聽

路5 months agoIm having this same issue only with Australian customers.聽 its really weird.聽 They show me screenshots on their end of my listing saying I dont ship to Oz and I show them a screenshot from inside the bloody listing where it not only says I ship to Oz but lists a gd shipping price.聽 Completely insane.聽 I almost lost a large order the other day to this, lucky he really wanted the stuff and was willing to wait until I could figure out a workaround.聽聽

Also having weird stuff going on around phantom feedback - on my header page positive feedback with text for specific items which appear when hovering but when I click on the feedback page the feedback I just saw on my header page isnt there.聽 I even find the item I could see feedback was left on via hover thru completed shipments and it says no feedback was left.聽 Like, **bleep** is going on here.聽聽

路5 months agoDo you have international shipping self ship services that service Australia in your listing/policies?
聽
From a quick look it appears that they are looking at an item not eligible聽for EIS, and you don't have any self-ship options for Australia.聽 So a buyer would see your item ships to Australia (not excluded), it doesn't qualify for EIS, and you have no self ship options for Australia so they see a message to contact you about shipping.

RE: Feedback, is it 'Order delivered on time with no issues' you see in the overview, but not on feedback page?聽 This is automatic feedback.聽 Check the 'Show automated feedback' checkbox on feedback page to see the hidden feedback buyers did not leave but you received automatically.

路5 months agoAlthough it does not appear to be the problem in these cases, it is also possible that the buyer is Blocked for too many Unpaid Item Strikes or other reasons for a Block.聽

路5 months agoAs flipistics says it could be the payment method they are trying to use.
I had a buyer in the past that was using a US Debit/Bank card that wouldn't work (they said they used it all the time for US sellers), I've also had someone trying to use eBay Gift Card, I think it was because it was unable to allow exchange rate difference.
I also had someone randomly saying they tried everything and it wouldn't work. I contacted eBay's customer service and told them them item, the buyer and problem and they said they knew what the problem was (but couldn't tell me for confidentiality reasons) but said they would contact the buyer and tell them what they had to do. Whatever it was it worked because they were able to pay after that.

OP5 months agoThanks for the information! Hopefully it's just a coincidence that this happened twice in a week, I thought it was indicative of some sort of Ebay glitch.
Looks like I have a few more US sales coming so I'll have to wait and see. 馃槍

路5 months agoOne of the other disclaimers for eIS is that it is NOT permitted for auction purchases. Unsure of the reasoning...just that it is noted on TOS service page. See eligibility section.

As a side for anyone else having problems with buyers paying the other exception would be a PO box. In my settings I had PO Boxes turned on but in checking it聽 now (after being enrolled in eis) it shows as off in excluded shipping locations.

聽
In the past we could turn on or off po boxes and APO/FPO army bases. That appears to be no longer an option with eis.聽 In checking settings by updating above from ca to com the following options are available for dot com sellers.
聽
Alaska,Hawaii/APO,FPO/US Protectorates

路5 months agoAre you able to send an invoice?
flipistics
路5 months agoIt's possible they might be using a payment option not accepted on eBay Canada.聽

OP5 months agoMaybe, I was just starting to suspect there might be a glitch or something as 2 customers complained of the issue in short order. I've never been approached with the issue until now.聽

路5 months agoI wanted specific listings so I could look at them and perhaps figure out why the buyers were not able to check out.

OP5 months agoOh thank you! it was this card here that I relisted once he informed me it wouldn't let him pay. It looks all good to me, very bizarre!

路5 months agoDid either of these buyers ever describe what sort of error message they were getting when they tried to pay?聽 Saying that the system "wouldn't let them pay" is a bit vague.
