Canada Post Expedited Lite - charged me twice
Summary: up-north-land shared their experience of being charged twice for the same shipping label on different dates, with differing amounts, causing confusion. john_koenig99 suggested checking the "Details" for an upcharge, while sapphyres-designer-jewellery speculated it could be a system glitch or an upcharge. jtg204 explained that the charge might be due to a package adjustment from Lite to Expedited Parcel, which may have resulted in the second charge reflecting the difference in costs. up-north-land expressed frustration at only receiving AI support, and devon@ebay promised to check with the Shipping team for any open tickets on this issue. Meanwhile, up-north-land was advised to contact customer support for potential credit or further clarification.
Hello!
I was charged twice for same label, different amounts on different dates. At first I though that maybe I ordered label twice and I will get a refund for an unused label. But same tracking number and different charge amounts make me think that something else happened there.
ebay chat AI is useless to figure out what happened...
Package: 20 x 5 x 5cm (under 200g)

OP3 weeks agoThanks for the idea. I've just checked, nfortunately .com details look exactly the same as .ca

·3 weeks agoWhat do you see when you click on the "View" links under "Details"? The difference between the two could be an upcharge that seems to be annoyingly recurrent for shipping labels purchased through ebay. But...If this is indeed a double charge for the same label, it is definitely a big problem.
Perhaps @devon@ebay could look a bit more into this situation.

OP3 weeks agoThanks for pointing in that direction, unfortunately now it make even less sense to me. Both charges say "shipping label". But see how screenshot on the left has discrepancies in amounts...

·3 weeks agoThe strange thing is that both show "completed" status. This only happens (as far as I know) when the label's bar code is scanned upon dropping off the package at the post office. Really weird.

·3 weeks agoIs it the same tracking number for both parcels? If it is, I'd say it's an upcharge. If it's not, I'd say it's a very big glitch. The charge is only supposed to happen when you drop the package off at the post office.

OP3 weeks agoWhen I dropped it at post office, they weighted it, but did not measure it (if fact I don't remember any occasion of measuring in the past). The second charge happened 10 days after the package was delivered. Both charges in ebay system say "shipping label". Should it really say "upcharge" / "correction" or something else? Appreciate if someone can check their past order that was upcharged to verify wording they use for a second charge. Thanks!

·3 weeks ago · EditedIt's likely your Lite package was adjusted to Expedited Parcel. The second charge would be the difference between the cost of an ebay discounted Lite label and full price Expedited label. It is a bit difficult to check this recently with the fluctuating fuel surcharges changing weekly but the total of the 2 charges would probably come close to the cost of an Expedited Parcel label for the order if this is the case.
These extra charges can come through seconds, or days after. 10 is a bit long though, I've had one 5 days later before. There will be nothing indicating the reason. This was a very frequent occurrence in the past, that was fixed but appears to be making a return.
You can confirm the dimensions (not weight) Canada Post has from their audit via their chat support (ask for an agent multiple times). In your case I would expect it to be within the limits.
You might get credit contacting customer support.
If there are enough people contacting support, sometimes there will be a reference code others can quote. @devon@ebay is there any current reference code for this issue?
You can also try emailing ebaylabels@ebay.ca with all the details but they do not respond. This is the address given for 'contact us' on the ebay labels page.
