Canada Post has suspended parcel service to 12 of the 27 EU countries!
Summary: mandicrafts informed the group that Canada Post has suspended parcel services to 12 EU countries, affecting eBay sellers. Alternatives like eBay EIS and couriers are available, albeit expensive. dinomitesales confirmed Italy, Ireland, and Spain are now available for shipping again. lautmaschine and others noted issues with printing eBay labels for certain countries due to eBay's blanket bans. Discussions also covered the challenges of international shipping, with some opting for services like Chit Chats or Stallion instead. Others shared experiences and updates on potential service reinstatements and new shipping policies.
Not only can we not purchase Canada Post labels to any EU countries on eBay Canada labels, we also cannot purchase them from Canada Post!!!
PO outlets were advised that effective today June 30, parcel service to 12 of the 27 EU countries has been SUSPENDED.
So the only game in town to ship/sell to the EU is via eBay EIS, a courier (very expensive), or Chit Chats or Stallion.

·2 months ago · EditedAnyone know if media items can still be sent tarrif/duty free to EU?
I just got an order for a vintage cassette tape going to France, but the only service on eBay for shipping there is Fed Ex, which is crazy high postage quote, I would rather use CP if possible. I may have to cancel the order.
marnotom!
·2 months ago · EditedCanada Post is still suspending service to France, so that's why you're seeing only FedEx as a shipping option for the cassette.
My understanding is that while media items mailed to the EU are generally exempt from conventional duties, the €3 tariff applies to everything sent by mail that's valued at under €150, even if the item is not subject to duty.

OP2 months agoYou can send via Chit Chats or Stallion. If you don't have a Chit Chats close to you, you can send into them via Smartdrop Canada Post or Purolator fom the CC site.

·2 months agoSo they are accepting items to France?
marnotom!
·2 months agoThis is what the Chit Chats blog has to say about things. It sounds as though France might be a bit different from the rest of the EU as they've had a handling fee in place since March:

OP2 months agoChit Chats is accepting items for all of the EU countries. You prepay the 3 euros upfront as you buy the label.

mandicrafts
OP2 months agoYes, zonos posted on their site they are working on it for the EU

·2 months agoPM advised me today that Italy is back to being accepted now!

·3 months ago · EditedAnd, this is one reason why I'm now exclusively using eIS everywhere internationally.
This is the last nail in the coffin for me to manage shipping internationally (at least for the moment). Chit Chat added fees, but since this is a fee per item category (per custom's line), 5$ each... that could easily be problematic if a customer orders multiple items from different categories.
I will let eBay deal with all those problems. I'll just ship to them. Might kill some sales, but less headaches.

·2 months agoThat's just fine. So why, when I went to Ebay did they offer ZERO shipping services (no canpost of course and NO UPS) to Portugal??
sapphyres-designer-jewellery
·2 months agoI got only one EU order since this started. I'd like to try and deal with this, but it will be hard if people aren't even buying my items. (The EU order was in Hungary and I shipped with Stallion, and that was like a week ago).

OP3 months agoIt states right on the print out that Letter Post items to these destinations can still be accepted.

·3 months agoeBay is blocking me from print my label for a buyer in Sweden, even though it is not one of the countries on the list. Why is that? I called eBay and they could offer no explanation.
ypdc_dennis
·3 months ago · EditedProbably because eBay is blocking all EU destinations for Canada Post, rather than using a list from Canada Post.

There have been issues in the past with Norway. It "was" an approved country with CP for both Small Packet Air Intl and Tracked Intl. It would would let buyers purchase the discounted ebay option but was not letting sellers buy the labels with ebay. As I recall it was never officially addressed by ebay. Sweden may be a new problem.
Lists for suspended and still available:
As a side eIS Canada is only available for approx 30 countries (as per help topic). eIS USA allows for 200 +
https://www.ebay.ca/help/selling/shipping-items/setting-shipping-options/ebay-international-shipping-program?id=5348
According to the eBay shipping calculator tool both Sweden and Norway should not be problems.

@devon@ebay Could you pass this on to your team and get back to us please ASAP. It's not a good situation when eBay lets buyers pay for discounted postage via ebay but ebay does not let sellers purchase the same discounted labels and are forced to do so at a loss. This has been a problem since August of 2025.
mandicrafts
OP3 months agoIt was posted separately, eBay announced that they suspended labels for all EU destinations. You can still buy from Canada Post or a cross border shipper like Chit Chats or Stallion.

A letter to your MP might lead to some interesting effects.
Or to the Globe and Mail.

·3 months ago · EditedIn the last few years (much of it Orange hair induced...cause and effect) the processes involved for e-commerce businesses has become more and more challenging. Shipping within Canada has become unrealistically expensive and shipping internationally frustrating with all the tariff, packaging and constant changing customs regulation requirements.
For these increased costs for a buyers are now seeing either before making a purchase or after are being blamed on sellers. Charges sellers have no control of. Seems both buyers and sellers will need to be even more educated going forward. Especially when the blame game is in play.

·3 months ago · EditedThanks for posting this here, Mandy! This was my photo I shared in the Facebook groups last night but didn't have a chance to post here in the forums.
The Canada Post "Delivery Service Alerts" page has now been updated. There is a bit more info on there, specifically noting that the other 15 countries are still able to be shipped to because they're accepting DDU shipments.
I thought only Denmark and Luxembourg (?) were enforcing DDP, but maybe Canada Post knows more than we do.

·2 months agoI have an offer from someone in Italy so I thought I'd check out if I can still ship there. I went to the CPO site and created a label and everything is as usual. I went right to the point where I had to pay for the label and stopped there. What am I missing?

·2 months agoItaly, Ireland, and Spain were removed from the suspended list a few days ago. I guess Canada Post communicated with their postal services and confirmed that all was good with them.
