Canada Post is not a first option anymore to ship items
Summary: The discussion revolves around the decreasing reliability and preference for Canada Post as a shipping option. Participants express their dissatisfaction with its service, indicating that they no longer consider it their first choice for shipping items. The reasons for this shift, however, are not detailed in the available content.
I can't put anything Canada Post or any generic shipping option as my main shipping option in Business Policies ... just UPS and Fed Ex which is greatly hurting my sales. I'm still at about 5 to 10% of what my sales should be per week. If I could choose Letterpost as my main shipping option for Dvds and thiner items my sales would go up significantly. Could Ebay fix that asap? I don't havw away to contact them directly anymore.

If I understand you correctly you want Canada Post to show up first in your listings and you are using Business Policies. At some point (like the mail strike) you may have deleted Canada Post as an option. If so another service like UPS automatically moved into your business policy Primary service section making it the first buyer choice they see in your listings. To fix this;
1. Go into the business shipping policy you wish to change.
2. To the right of the service showing under "Primary service" there are 3 little menu dots. Click them.
3. Click on "Remove Service" Let's call it UPS. You will get this back in a second.
4. Select the Primary service you want your buyer to see first in your listing. Let's say it's "Canada Post Tracked Packet USA". .....OK That's done.
5. Go below that in business shipping policies to the section called "Additional Services". Click "Add additional services".
6. Add UPS back in (or whatever other ones) you want. These ones will now show up in your listings but they will be BELOW Canada Post Tracked Packet USA.
To quote you "If I could choose Letterpost as my main shipping option for Dvds and thiner items my sales would go up significantly."
I don't know if you meant to say "Lettermail". Letterpost is the service from Canada to the USA and it's illegal to ship goods that way as without the Customes clearance it's smuggling, so the answer is "No, eBay won't let you use Letterpost as your primary or as any other international service. If it's just domestic services you meant my appologies if I misread your question.

When I have lettermail items for shipping to Canada I choose Standard Shipping as it give more time for shipment than specifying CP Lettermail.
If you are having trouble with shipping amounts shown, consider adding the lettermail rate to the price and provide "Free Shipping". I don't use free shipping often, but when I do it is usually for lettermail items.

·9 months ago@gauld, is there something in the way you've set up your shipping options that causes ebay to display your highest-cost option (UPS Standard Canada) in search results and views?
For example, if I do a search for "Multiple Sarcasms blu ray" your listing is the lowest-priced of the 3 offers from Canadian sellers but the highest-cost with the displayed $12 shipping included.
If I view your listing and click on Shipping details then I can see your options for Canada Post Lettermail @ $6 and Canada Post Expedited Lite @$8 which can be selected at checkout.
Another seller also has this blu-ray listed with shipping options (Free Economy Shipping or Expedited Shipping @$10) but in their case both the search results and listing view show the free shipping, with the Expedited Shipping option selectable at checkout.

I think this is specifically a current issue with eBay.ca and the Canada Post API but no one has made a direct thread on it.
AFAIK these are usually intermittent and only last the majority of a day.
I purchased, printed, and shipped a label this morning but then got a 2nd sale around noon and it was down.
I tracked another forum post from the last time this happened a few months ago and the API glitch lasted approx 24hrs.
Hope so, because going to the PO costs double to ship without eBay discount - and this is likely system wide.
I do not believe it is anything more crazy than a temp systems outage, as stated.

·9 months agoWhat is happening when you try to?
Are you adding them seperate, or using 'change'?
What happens when you delete the options, add CP first as Primary and then add UPS?

·9 months agoI guess the OP is referring to not having Canada Post in eBay labels right now. Of course that does not remove CP as a shipping source, just removes eBay as a source for labels.
With the tariffs now, for me Canada Post have become much more of a first option to the US compared to the couriers. UPS/Fedex, etc. are charging an import fee that is a minimum of $10US to the buyers, even on $0 tariff items and that is not charged if using Canada post.

·9 months agoMy sales are and have been down about 80% on everage per month since January. People just don't want to pay high shipping and wait forever to get their stuff.

Highly doubt that for potential Canadian buyers...Most Canadian buyers are well aware of the cost of shipping...
IF shipping to the USA, well that is another matter...USA folks are in quite a predicament these days...so much uncertainty...the de minimus is gone, high tariff rates for imported goods to the USA, poor USA economy, loss of jobs, increases on so many goods, USA folks no longer spending so freely and perhaps more cautious with their spending and more apt to spend on "needs" rather than "wants"...

There was a point in time when regular mail and expedited parcel in Canada rates mirrored each other. Only difference between the 2 was delivery times. (Many Canadian sellers have had a policy to show regular but ship expedited. Basically surpassing a buyers expectations.)
Recently there has been a modification to the rates shown when a buyer looks or goes to pay. Regular is slightly less...Usually by a couple of bucks. With 2 of 4 recent Canada orders buyers have paid for regular parcel. Only issue being that when you go to create a label regular is no longer showing as an option with eBay labels for some unknown reason.
A new observation is the discount with expedited appears to be much lower than what it was in the past. For a recent recent expedited the discount went from 12 % to 10 % with a tiny modification to final pkg measurements. For a heavier shipment to Toronto the discount disappeared for the Xpresspost option. I have also seen on occasion where a buyer is paying for expedited (in Canada) but ebay labels is defaulting to UPS. A service I have never used or offered.
Unsure what exactly is going on under the eBay hood but seems to be the new normal abnormal.
Note: In just attempting to get a screenshot to attach here it is presently showing Expedited in Canada turned off. There were no issues creating labels last night.

·9 months agoCanada Post is still an option via SnapShip on CP website and your SfSB applies so if the eBay/CP discount has decreased, perhaps SnapShip is an option to be considered...

IF the discount was decreased/revised/modified/terminated... shouldn't there have been a formal announcement from eBay advising sellers? More critical for sellers who use flat rate or are trying to build it in to their pricing. That's how it was done with tracked services to USA/Internationally.

maybe yes, maybe no...
Etsy did NOT let us Etsy sellers know in advance or provide an announcement when the Etsy/CP discount was decreased there a few months back...

I've just been noticing especially with eBay Canada follow up is getting harder to find. If they are not providing that follow up that is poor business. (They seem to be able to provide updates for US sellers. Maybe the yelling from the echo chamber is louder in USA so issues get the proper attention. But that may be conjecture or a larger user base.)
We'll get back to you and then not doing so is not super helpful.
A good example of this is when they announced new requirements for international shipping but didn't give sellers the tools to do so.
