·1 year agoI just had my first 'buy 3 get 15% off' coupon sale. Seems to work okay. From the seller fees breakdown it looks like they used the after discount price (plus tax and shipping though of course)

·1 year agoThere still seem to be some bugs in the system. I set up my first 'coupon' yesterday for a $5 discount for every three items purchased. Today I had my first redeemed coupon, but eBay only gave the buyer a $2 discount, so I will have to refund the other $3.

·1 year ago@devon@ebay Can you please pass this and any above issues on to support? From personal experience I created 3 coupons when service went live. Currently only showing 2 and had a screenshot of where 3rd was live. History does not show coupon as ended or cancelled. There are still links involved that are doa.

·1 year agoI see now what's been happening. When setting up a coupon, there is a field for 'maximum discount', and apparently the default setting is $2.

·1 year agoIt is very disappointing that the buy x get y coupons don't work. Those are the ones that would be most effective.
Does anybody know if spend x get y works? As in, spend $500, get $100 off?
Blank percentages off aren't a bad thing, but they aren't that much different than the basic sales feature. They might influence a buyer to pull the trigger out of fear of missing out on the "sale" period, but they aren't going to increase sales dramatically. It's the coupons where you can have a buyer who comes to your store for 1 item and influence them to see the added value in buying 2+ items that will be very important.

·1 year agoThe only thing I can add at this point is that my coupon: buy 8 or more and get 20% off hasn't had any success on either site.
I presume that the .COM would work if anyone tried, even if the .CA one wouldn't.
If I click on "see eligible items" I do have all the items showing up so at least that part is working.
(If anyone goes to check, my sale is only on my "smalls" stuff $15 or under)

·1 year ago@lotzofuniquegoodies From my systems background (very much out of date now), their applications must by now be a monstrosity to maintain given the time the apps have likely been in use.
The sad fact is that it is probably vastly cheaper for them to test live to some point and bear the cost of faults than spend the horrific amount it would take to thoroughly test before going live (which would also delay the implementation much longer).
I learned a frustrating but useful fact when I went to dig a hole in my yard and I wanted one of the telecommunications giants to tell me where their cable was (ie a locate). The response was immediate that it is far far cheaper for them to just let folks dig away and fix any subsequent cable issues than it is to provide locates. This is good for them, and I guess me because it means they don't have to add it to their overall costs I pay, but it doesn't work so well for me if I cut it and have to wait however long for it to be fixed ..... sounds familiar??

On this one they should have known if there were any perils going in. Afterall coupons have been available in the USA for a number of years. Maybe why they never were upfront (honest) with any kind of firm date as to when they were actually going to come to Canada.

OP1 year agoHad lots of sales on the 5-10% off sales when a person buys right away.
The buy x get x free, doesnt work. Devon liked my post tagging him about it, but thats about it, probly take 5 years to fix and no update that its fixed lol.

I set up a Buy 3 get 1 free, and a buy 3 get $50 off - neither work. Worse, I used the feature in the coupon to push the offer out to buyers, not expecting that it wouldn't work.
Has anybody had any luck? Does it just take time to activate, or is the feature broken on launch?

The coupons seem to be very selective as to when they do or don't work. Appears limited testing was done on ca before implementation.

And the coupons can also be available in tape delay mode before they are available. Still unable to message the seller that sent me a coupon offer that expires April 13th and shows no items available. Unsure if they cancelled the coupon or something else is a amok.

·1 year agoI had some luck on the straight coupons (flat 10% off, etc). Several sales off it (who knows if they would have sold anyway though). I believe I set one up for 20% off 3 or more also. It showed as active, but I didn't actually test it.

Clicking on a sellers Store View Sales tab "can" cause coupon(s) display to be corrupted in Chrome. Refresh works sometimes but not 100 %. I currently should have 2 coupons available. Several refreshes only showed 1.

As a side note I received a coupon from another Canadian seller 2 days ago. Clicking on available items brings up 0 Sale Items found. The coupon expiry date is April 13, 2025. Should coupons be responding that way?

·1 year agoBuy 3, get 1 free is the one I was going to do for a promotion.
They put coupons live to be tested by the "guinea pigs" before making a big "Announcement".
I think I will wait a wee bit longer before putting a coupon live. Imagine if they start deducting the coupons the way they do shipping labels from Sellers' accounts, weeks after the fact...
I can just see the "reactions on here in advance."...

·1 year agoI set up a buy 3 get one free and it appears to not work. At checkout it gives a message saying some items are not eligable, whcih is untrue in the case we tested.

OP1 year agoAgree I tested with one i set up, also doesnt work. Says to add another item to get the free item and when you do the coupon disapears and doent apply

·1 year agoI am very excited about this feature. I plan to sit down this weekend and figure out the best strategies.
I have a few thousand pieces of media to list that I have been putting off to focus on other things, especially with CDs, I could see buy x get y free being very successful - so it certainly gives me motivation to start listing.

Do these tools get tested before being implemented on ca? They were released Feb/March 2025. Other Canadian sellers have had related issues using these new tools that took forever to come to ca.

·1 year agoI had a coupon sale this morning. As far as I can tell, they took the coupon amount out immediately. The available funds appear to show the amount with the coupon applied.

Congrats. Still in testing mode here. Were your total seller fees based on the price before coupon with shipping and any applicable tax? Did it show coupon applied on packing slip? And if it was an international sale, what value did eBay use for customs?

·1 year agoYes, the seller fees were applied on the amount before coupon. The coupon does show on the packing slip as a seperate line item. It was a domestic sale. Interestingly though, I just had an international sale and there was NO COUPON applied. I wonder if they only apply domestically if you list on dot ca?

OP1 year agoI think international people can use them, however they need to buy the items on .ca to be able to see/use the coupon. I have used .com coupons before but they dont show on the listing when I browse on .ca first. So I am in the habit now of changing the URL to .com for a quick check before I purchase anything in case seller has a coupon on the other site. I would venture to say most people don't use the .ca site, so not sure how much traction it will get without a bit of advertisement expecially if using a private coupon (I might put soemething in packages to my regulars, havent thought that far ahead yet)
I got a sale for 4 items to 1 buyer who used the 5% off coupon and the i also checked and the fees are based on the full total of the original order before the coupon.

·1 year agoI can confirm that one ONLY sees the coupon on the "domestic" site. My .CA coupons are only visible on .CA items, the .COM coupons are only visible on .COM items.

·1 year agoSo far my experiment has failed, my stuff is all free shipping so purchasing a number of small item means I can give them a break. I tried buy 8 or more get 20% off but so far no takers. It ends March 30, I'll wait to see what happens on "liberty day" then I'll try to figure out something else - note that 8 isn't really a big number for the small stuff I sell, perhaps more patience is all I need 😀

Unsure how many would want to, but the option to send a coupon is available when sending offers. Really depends how much wiggle room a seller has with any given "original" price. Might work for anyone having a "Kinda going out of business sale like Hudson's Bay"!!!

·1 year agoWhen a qualifying Coupon recipient redeems a Coupon for the purchase of an Eligible Item, the Seller will receive payment for the Eligible Item equal to the non-discounted price of the Eligible Item as if no Coupon were used for the purchase. At the end of the Coupon Validity Period, eBay will then invoice Seller for the total Seller Funded Amount for all the Coupons that were redeemed, up to the maximum amount of the Seller Cap as defined in the Program Terms (if any). Seller will be invoiced for the total Seller Funded Amount for their portion of coupon funding of all eligible sales from thirty (30) to forty-five (45) days after the end of the Coupon Validity Period.
For clarification, this Agreement does not change any fees due from Seller to eBay, Seller shall also pay eBay’s fees as set forth in the eBay Policies and any other agreement between Seller and eBay, all of which will be based on the non-discounted price and final value of Eligible Items, even if a Coupon was redeemed.
So final value fees are based on the non-coupon price?

·1 year agoMaybe that's still in reference to eBay issued coupons? If you scroll to the bottom of the page it says it was last updated 07.08.2024. So it's possile that they haven't added the new user created coupons to the terms yet.

With that said, it is still going to be a net positive. I look at it like promoted listings. You'd cry if I told you how much I pay every month for promotions, but all that matters is that I get value back for what I pay.

If I'm reading the small print correctly, eBay will pay us the non-discounted amount (as a normal sale) then, after the coupon time ends, bill/deduct the 'coupon savings' amount back.

·1 year agoIt appears to be working! I set up two as tests, a general 10% off and a 20% off for 2 or more items (until the end of the weekend). We'll see what happens!

Correction****Being Another mouse in the eBay maze of find/test the new features as they magically appear!!! eBay Canada needs as many mice as we can supply!!! Wonder if and when we will see an official announcement for this? The January 2025 announcement was very vague to release date approximation.
