Delaying shipment after ship by date due to strike, what to do?
Summary: musicyouneed is facing a dilemma due to a postal strike, which may delay shipments to Canadian buyers beyond the ship-by date of Dec 10, 2024. The buyers have agreed to wait for the strike to end, but musicyouneed is concerned about the potential impact on their status and late shipment rate. silverpinups shares they are in a similar situation, providing a link to a related discussion. silverpinups explains their strategy of holding the package until the strike ends, then sending it via Xpresspost and communicating tracking details privately to maintain good buyer relations. silverpinups also plans to offer a bonus to patient buyers and suggests requesting them to mark the item as having arrived on time in feedback.
Delaying shipment after ship by date due to strike, what to do? I have three items from Canadian buyers that I have to ship by Dec 10/24. I contacted all the buyers and they are happy to wait until the strike is over. Now I don't think that the strike will be over any time soon. I am concerned about the ship by date of Dec 10/24 and how that will affect my status, late shipment rate. Now I could email my buyers and tell them that I have to mark the item shipped when in fact it hasn't. What would you do?

·1 year agoWhat I've decided to do since I missed the ship by date is to hold the package until the strike is over. I will then ship it out Xpresspost to the buyer (it's an expensive item so I don't mind the extra cost) and not update the tracking info on eBay but send him a message with tracking info. I will also include a little bonus for him for waiting so patiently.
I will then remind the buyer if he leaves feedback to mark the item as arrived on time.
