Delays In Shipping to US
Summary: 2nd-time-around-jewelry expressed frustration over a delayed delivery of an item shipped to the US, which is still in transit with DHL despite having arrived in the country some time ago. hansatrade shared a similar experience with delays and reallynicestamps provided advice on handling claims and managing buyer expectations, noting that shipment delays are not unusual. john_koenig99 mentioned past issues with customs using the same shipping service. Eventually, 2nd-time-around-jewelry updated that the package was received after five weeks, longer than any delivery in their 24 years of selling on eBay. Another participant shared their ongoing experience with delayed shipping using a similar service.
I sold an item to a buyer in the US on Aug 16th. It arrived in the US quite awhile ago & is with DHL now. The buyer reached out to me as it still hasn't been delivered. When I check the tracking a message comes up saying "Delivery is taking longer than expected". Has anyone else encountered this?

OP3 weeks agoUpdate : Customer finally received their parcel yesterday. It took 5 weeks to get from B.C. Canada to Washington USA. That is a ridiculous timeline. It has never taken that long to anywhere in the world in all my 24 years of selling on eBay.

·3 weeks ago@2nd-time-around-jewelry I have an eis shipment Calgary to Oakland Ca. Departed Calgary on Sept. 8. Now showing at a DHL hub in Illinois. Estimated delivery as per DHL is today. Somehow that seems extremely unlikely. Previous CP tracked shipments would have been delivered in 7 to 9 days at 1/3 the cost.

·3 weeks agoI hope eBay Canada eventually opens a hub in the West. That'd be way more efficient than shipping everything to Mississauga.

·1 month agoWhat is the last estimated date for delivery?
Has that date passed?
If you used eIS your responsibility for delivery ended at the Mississauga plant.
If the buyer has opened a Claim immediately put the Proof of Delivery for the arrival at the Mississauga plant into the Claim
Do NOT trust eBay to do this, they want you actively involved.
In has been my experience, selling by mail since the 1980s, that it is not unusual for shipments to take 21 days to arrive at a US destination. Usually sooner but not unusual.
Because US customers are accustomed to the very efficient USPS and because most people get less mail delivered than we sellers are used to sending, they have odd ideas about how fast delivery will be.

·1 month agoWas this via eIS? They use DHL a lot for deliveries from the Canadian hub. My experience with them has been okay, but I had a case where the order got stuck at customs for over 2 weeks, until finally they updated it with an "unable to deliver". No explanation. The buyer was refunded and I got to keep the sale's proceeds.

·1 month agoYes, I had the same problem recently: an item unexpectedly held at USPS facility for 2 weeks. But such problems occasionally happen since several years. For example 2 years ago I had 10-15 packages late - all arrived after 1 month, some were refunded.
