For anyone interested in comparing the 2 new versions of this forum. The differences are really seen testing the dropdown options as to what is or isn't available and what is or isn't working. Testing search on the Canadian site can be very challenging. Search results are coming up in no particular order. You can manually choose a date window but no other similar filters like in the past. Both probably should have included some sort of tutorial. Especially for anyone new to this.

When I did a test reply today to test deleting, it had to be approved first.
Other difference is reactions are still not showing who reacted here.
Today I noticed a 'Related Discussions' on the side, so the page doesn't center after a couple seconds on desktop without a column there now.

·3 weeks agoI think on dot com you're requesting it now too... I saw in the drop down "request deletion" as opposed to saying "delete".
They're still tinkering with this and fixing things. That's how it always is with new stuff, at my work we got new software two years ago and they're still making changes and fixing things so it works properly. Once the bugs are worked out, things will be so much better.

There definitely is some kind of lag time between time a message is posted, we are advised it has been posted and the time it actually makes its appearance on here. Another variation of eBay Tape Delay!!!
Anyone attempted sending a message and getting it rejected with this new format?

·2 weeks agoI get the 'awaiting approval' notification on the US site before getting the 'approved' notification. Delay varies - depends on how fast and how educated the AI reading it can make a decision. I have had a few AI edits where it deletes words but does not tell you via email what you did wrong. Sometimes entire posts are removed with no explanation.
I do notice that those long pleading requests for help getting a suspension removed have not shown up yet.
There is still no Private Messaging over there, but they do show your feedback rating.
Idiot titles are gone so I am no longer a Scout or whatever ... no loss
The 'reaction' thing is a gimmick to stroke posters ... similar to the old thumbs up.
Very few of the interesting posters on the old forum have no returned so it's getting a bit boring.
There is no 'Best Answer' feature that was very useful and a time-saver.

When I get a 'notification' that someone has responded to one of my comments, I can find the reply but I have to search the entire thread to find my comment that is being replied to. After doing this a few times on a large thread, I just gave up and turned the notifications thing off. The 'reaction' notification is like the old thumbs up and is useless as are the approved, waiting to be approved, and all of the other useless garbage that make up this 'new' feature.
Sorry eBay, you blew it big time and the loss of forum members is the result.

Secondly what happened to being able to message a user directly? Now the only way is via their user name and no guarantees all users check it. In many cases it is ONLY used for forums. Not for listing or buying. And all of our previous (internal) messaging has disappeared.
Lastly where is the variety of sub forums, similar to what has been available from start on the US version? We are definitely missing one for technical issues.

There are "users" that have kitten if you message them using their seller account addy. You have to tread with caution. Why a user to user way in majority of cases is the best safest option.

·2 weeks agoI can say these new forums don't feel like they have the participation as the old ones. I can also say the .com forums ( I haven't visited in a while) were far more active because of their sense of community there.
They had a general forum where users could discuss things fun like favorite TV shows and a forum where users sought advice on identifying items.
The activity there blew my mind.
The question is, is there a chance to create new sub-forums here or is it what we see is what we get?

I know it's not apples to apples but when you look at how long it took Canadian's to get a version of eIS and features it came with and then compare what has been added in closing in on 1 year it gives you the impression it will take time and muucho requesting for us to get the same level of the forum as they have already in the USA.
You just have to look at the lack of follow up with our eBay labels issues that go back to late last year that still have not been addressed...fixed. Possibly why we didn't get a technical issues forum.

Me too and that's why I spent my time over there. We had a lot of fun over there, including the dreaded 'off topic' responses.
The activity has slowed right down. New questions are sent to an 'ask the mod' forum where only a select group of so-called experts are allowed to post comments. All of the help given to eBay newbies is gone and so are most of the people who provided the best help.
It looks like, so far anyway, that most of the changes to the new .com forum have been done and the forum still sucks.

Not having auto draft save could become a major nuisance. You are very likely bang on. Most users of this forum in that situation will likely not start over. eBay seems to be more intent on removing features that have worked forever vs the alternative adding nothing burger tools.

OP1 week agoOne other takeaway/shortcoming of this new forum arrangement is search does not let you choose best match, recent or oldest as options. Guessing it's been designed as 100% AI driven results.

OPyesterday at 4:16 PMYesterday at the end of one discussion there was an option to choose most recent, old and something else. It was not best match. Could be a work in progress. In the past this option was at the beginning. Now no longer seeing.
