Ebay changed the delivery time frame?
Summary: Participants in the discussion express their confusion and frustration regarding eBay's recent changes to delivery time frames displayed to buyers. rosepeak mentions that their handling time isn't being considered, with delivery dates being shown much earlier than expected. regs43 and cottagewoman both have noticed similar issues, with some accounts showing "Free 3-day delivery" despite different handling and shipping settings. avidhiker-33 observes that shipping times are incorrect and potentially misleading. nhl_automotive highlights unrealistic delivery promises from Vancouver to Florida, raising concerns. Numerous participants question if it's an issue with specific shipping methods or a broader problem with eBay's system, with some seeking feedback or intervention from eBay's team.
I'm confused as to why Ebay suddenly shrank the delivery time frame for all shipping methods by a large margin? Take a look at this listing for example. I've set my handling time to 5 days yet the earliest delivery date shown to buyer is only 3 days from the date of purchase! It's not even taking the handling time into account like it previously did! The latest delivery date has been set to much earlier than before too. What gives??

·1 year agoI have heard talk of this issue in Facebook groups, although I think it was referring to the US site. However, you may want to try a test with Standard shipping as opposed to Economy shipping and see if that works correctly.

·1 year agoI have been using "Standard" shipping as opposed to Economy shipping for the past 2 years as that has worked well for the estimated delivery time but that DOES NOT make any difference at current time> as of today it shows for shipping to the USA estimated delivery time as "Delivery:Estimated between Wed, May 21 and Wed, May 28" and I have 6 day handling time! and that is for Tracked PKt >which normally takes 8-12 days. (Note: This is for items currently listed on .COM.)

·1 year agoI have added many days of handling to prepare for the strike.
I have ebay telling me to ship before "22th of may"....
Estimated delivery starts at 19th may.
I mean.... lol. It's a bit ridiculous right now.

·1 year agoI have buyers claiming ebay is promising 3 day delivery from Vancouver to Florida. When I ship using Canada Post it shows up to a month for delivery to Florida although it usually takes no longer than 7-10 days. I'm not sure where they're getting this info from and it's really frustrating. @devon@ebay

Hi @nhl_automotive! Do you have an order number that you can share for where the buyer is seeing these estimated shipping time?

·1 year agoI offer Canadian buyers two shipping options: 'Economy shipping' (which is free) or 'Expedited'. Currently eBay is showing the same 'estimated delivery' of May 13 to May 20 for both. (Handling time is set at two days.)

·1 year agoI had a Canadian sale today (May 11) with Economy shipping (1-15 business days), 2 day handling. Local pickup is also turned on for the listing.
eBay tells me Estimated delivery date shown to buyer: May 13, 2025 - May 20, 2025
Proper range should be May 13 to June 4. Big difference.

OP1 year ago@ypdc_dennis,
If your handling time is 2 days, then your delivery date should be May 15 - June 6, not May 13 - June 4. Not only has Ebay shrank the delivery window, it's also no longer acknowledging our handling time! If your handling time is 2 days it's not so problematic, but for some of my items I need 5 days handling time. This sucks.
ypdc_dennis
·1 year agoNot in my view.
Sold on May 11, 2 day handling is me mailing it May 13.
Which makes earliest date May 14 for mail delivery or May 13 for pick up.
Still, it's a major problem. It looks like some programmer changed some code and shipping set by the seller is being ignored and one-size-fits-all default times are being used.
avidhiker-33
·1 year ago@rosepeak, thanks for posting that. Glad I checked the forums today.
Glanced at a few of my listings and noticed ebay is displaying "Free 3 day delivery". My account is set for 2-days handling time, economy shipping.
Perhaps ebay AI has determined we will use overnight delivery services provided by FedEx, UPS, etc. for shipments to Canadian customers if/when postal services are again disrupted???
rosepeak
OP1 year agoWhere is this "Free 3 day delivery"? Is this an option offered to sellers?
avidhiker-33
·1 year agoNo. "Free Shipping" is an option offered to sellers and that's what I selected in March 2021 when I set up an ebay seller account to resell blu-rays and DVDs we had purchased for home viewing.
In the past my listings displayed "Free Shipping" ... now they're displaying "Free 3 day delivery" ... which I may not have noticed if not for your post.
Given the duration of the last postal service disruption I'm anticipating that few of my listings will sell over the next while. If any do, I'll message the customer(s) about the "Free 3 day delivery" in case they wish to cancel their orders.
avidhiker-33
·1 year agoJust an update -- overnight the "Free 3 day delivery" on my listings changed to "Free Economy Shipping".
However my 2 business day handling time is still not reflected in the delivery estimates -- those are displaying between May 13 (tomorrow) and May 20 (instead of May 15 - May 30 for economy shipping).
Received an order yesterday afternoon from a QC customer for an item that was then displaying "Free 3 day delivery". The customer replied that a longer delivery time was no problem when I messaged him.
Order details for this order show it should be shipped by May 13 at 11:59 EDT. Meanwhile the estimated delivery date shown to the customer is May 13 - May 20.

·1 year agoMaybe this is in process of being fixed or at least altered somewhat?... as my estimated delivery times are now showing better timeframes, but still not where they should be with a 6 business day handling time...

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies! I can have the Shipping team look at this.

·1 year agoI just looked because of your post, yes its concerning, as is when I mark something as shipped today and this is the estimate the buyer sees, when I have Economy 1-15 days selcted??? **bleep**
"Estimated delivery date shown to buyer: May 12, 2025 - May 16, 2025"
rosepeak
OP1 year agoSame, I just received an order today that's also Economy shipping and the delivery date shown to buyer is May 13 - May 20!! And the buyer's address is across the country from me! And of course that delivery date doesn't even take into account my handling time!
This is very concerning indeed.
