eBay Changing Some Item Specifics
Summary: flipistics reported an issue with eBay's listing system where their manually added item specifics are being overwritten by information from the eBay Product ID, which often contains incorrect details. pjcdn2005 suggested that avoiding the use of UPC codes might prevent this automatic data addition, although they acknowledged this solution might not be ideal for everyone, especially for items that aren't in the eBay catalogue.
@devon@ebay I noticed this the other day when creating a listing for a CD. Some of the item specifics that I added are being overwritten by the entries from the eBay Product ID entry. This is a problem because the product database often includes incorrect information. Here's an example (this one isn't too serious since it didn't introduce wrong info, just info that wasn't what I entered).
Here's what shows on the listing page:
And here's what shows when I edit the listing:

·2 years agoI don't think that anything I sell is in the eBay catalogue. But I have read on the boards that one way to prevent the information from being added is to not use the UPC code. I realize that may not be ideal.
