Ebay decline appeal blame on me not responding/they instructed me to not!
Summary: goldhawkickz13 shared their frustration with eBay's handling of a buyer dispute, where they were advised to ignore a buyer's claim but found an appeal unfairly declined. They highlighted additional issues with another buyer who refused to pay tariffs and threatened negative actions unless reimbursed, causing goldhawkickz13 concern over repeated similar cases. Other participants advised on handling returns and purchasing shipping labels to avoid such situations. goldhawkickz13 subsequently updated on eBay resolving one case in their favor but faced a new challenge with another buyer refusing delivery, underlining ongoing issues with eBay's dispute resolution process.
Got this buyer refused 1st delivery attempt not wanting to pay tariffs.
Without procession of the parcel at that point
Opened a item not as described case
Clearly stating he is doing this to avoid paying tariffs.
I called ebay the next two days. At least 3 reps told me to ignore the request, wait until tbe 3rd day to ask ebay to step in because obviously he was making a false claim.
On 2nd day the buyer paid the tariffs , item delivered. Not a single word from him.
I noticed the delivery. Call ebay again. Talk to multiple reps with them reconfirm the do not respond instruction to me.
On 3rd day during midnight. Case automatically rule in buyer favor.
I call in to seek help.
Rep told me they are on it.
4 hours later i found out no appeal was filed.
Did it myself.
Few hours after. Appeal declined. Final.
Reason? I never responded.
That is not remotely fair isnt it?
I follow what ebay told me to do an is being blame and penalize of it.
Some one from ebay management needs to see this.
I have another buyer with similar situation
Following this with reps also tell me to do the ignore don't respond.
I dont want to get screw back to back.

OP6 days ago · EditedUpdate.
On the first scenario of aggressive buyer case. I clicked through accepting return, told buyer he has to look for usps or so on his side to ship it, give me legitimate receipt so i could pay him back as ebay instructed me to do. He had not responded since.
Case two. After 5 days or more headaches with reps on phone/emails explaining why i never touched the return request base on instruction ebay gave me. With ebay tried to blame it on me not responding to the case, to i shouldn't summit the appeal "on my own instead of let them handle it behind the sense"(which never was actually done) . But eventually they creditd me back the refund.
But with amazing luck. A 3rd case arises. A buyer refused delivery twice. (obviously tarrifs) and open up item not received case.
I thought as soon as they refuse delivery . They lose all buyer protection rights and system wouldn't allow them to open item not received.

·5 days ago · EditedYou honestly should either switch to DDP (ClickShip or CP/Zonos) or see if they can include you under eIS (I don't know if eBay is actively inviting more sellers into the program right now, or not). This, of course, if you want to keep selling to buyers in the USA.
It's just not worth the hassle to keep sending DDU, for what you've been describing.

OP5 days agoFor listings on ebay.ca i do use the ebay international hub option.
Its the ebay.com listings that go with ups since cpc is not available on ebay directly.
Honest the tariffs thing has gotten to not being a problem after the first 6 months or so. Its never a huge problem to begin with when buyer refuse delivery because of tariffs. Its their own responsibility.
But in this strike of bad luck I encountered 3 guys that knows how to manipulate the system with item not received and not as described.
So the case with the aggressive buyer, he escalate to claim, claiming i refuse to provide him return label. Ebay sent me a message saying i have 4 days to upload one. If not it will automatically favor buyer plus no return of merchandise needed. But the darn case page has no where to enter anything. Buyer refused to go ship it on his own and I pay him after.
Ebay say case is on hold for 5 days and they won't do anything untll the 6th.
But the deadline is 4 days.
Insist i do not have to do anything . This is crazy. I know for sure 4 days the system would automatically defaults buyer favor. I am now in an impossible situation

Did you send a return shipping label?
The item was delivered.
Did you send a return shipping label?
If you don't accept and pay for the return the buyer keeps the item and is refunded.
If they had opened a Not Received claim, the tracking number would have won the case, but you have to post that number to the claim.
Your suspicions about his reasons are irrelevant.

OP1 week agoThe other situation:
Buyer inbox bomb me to give him 1/3 off on a Vince carter authentic jersey at $300bin.
I declined. Told him he is asking unreasonable discounts %.
He kept bombing my inbox.
I gave him free shipping.
He purchased it. I sent out as usual business.
Yesterday came bombing my inbox blasting about me scraming him with ups asking for tariffs at delivery. He refused to pay it. Demand me to pay for it for him.
I declined. Explained thats his responsibility.
He continues to bomb my inbox.
Few hours later he paid, parcel delivered.
6hrs later at midnight am.
Inbox bombing me again demanding a full refund and tariffs compensation or he will file item not as described claiming i sent him a counterfeit.
Continue to inbox bomb me over the whole night til now.
Ebay kept telling me to ignore the return request wait until deadline past for them to step in.
Kind of familiar isnt it? I dont want to get screwed here.
He had threaten me if i do not refund him immediately (hinting he kepts jersey) or he will trash my acct reputation by bot online.
He demands i pay his tariffs.
Continue to say i did a bait and switch on him.
I have 2 units of the same jersey in the listing quantity wise.
The pictures of the inside production run tag i had one of them upload for the product number. And qr code. Obviously the individual unit serial numbers isnt going to be the same. Non of them should have been. Like electronics. He is nitpicking this serial number as his bait and switch logic. And make false accusation of thats a " well known fake serial number"
This is all because i did not give him 1/3 off, not paying for his tariffs.

·1 week agoIf it was me, I'd accept the return and provide him with a label. If he sends back something else, you already have proof in the messages of him threatening you and of him filing a false report so eBay should theoretically side with you. If you're top rated for the USA you'd also have additional options.
Seriously though, don't send DDU. You can use eIS, UPS with DDP via Click Ship, Canada Post and Zonos, or a cross border shipper if you have one available to you.

OP1 week ago · EditedThe thing is he is continuing to harass me with bombing volume of message with further accusation. Beating the authenticity issue still.
Since i am in canada, he is usa. I cant remotely purchase a shipping label for him. It will be like he ships it and i send him the cost after showing the recipt of it via PayPal or so.
He ignores it, threaten to "expose" me with bots.
I already told him its pointless to argue that. I am going to bit the bullet to suffer lost on cost (send out trip$20, return trip$30 according to usps cheapest option. Possibly duty/tax when it reenters back canada because i am sure he won't know how to declare the package when send.) A 300usd item image how much the tax would be when it come back to me.
Thats 100$ or more that i am going to lose while doing nothing wrong.
He is still demanding i pay him back on the tarrifs.

OP1 week agoI already did click the accept return. But he is still bubbling on about how he will destroy me.

·1 week ago@goldhawkickz13 You should be able to buy a return label via Shippo. You MIGHT also be able to buy one through EasyShip. If you can manage to sign up, there's also Pirate Ship (make sure you get simple export rate added to your account). You can also use Shippsy.

·1 week agoYou can purchase a label on Net Parcel (someone please correct me if this is not the case, I'm under the impression Net Parcel will sell foreign labels).
There are other shipping services that sell US labels. Buy one and send it to him to send your item back, at that point you will have satisfied the item not as described case where you need to provide a label to ship it back.
BTW, if he ships it back, he won't get his tariffs back, nor will you be paying for them (as he already paid them).

·1 week agoCorrect on the they won't get their tariffs back. In theory it should be Canadian goods returning. Depends on how it gets processed. If I's don't get dotted good chance their could be customs charges. Can anyone report back their experience with a US return for confirmation please?
sapphyres-designer-jewellery
·1 week agoI've gotten US returns (USPS was purchased on Stamps.com). I declared it as Canadian Goods Returned to Sender, no HST/import on that package.
When I said they don't get the tariff back, I mean the US buyer who paid the US tariff will not get that back just because they're returning it.

·1 week agoSend the return shipping label.
You can buy those through Shippo for USPS or for UPS.
Be aware that you may be hit with Canadian tariffs on the return, unless the idiot buyer refuses to mark the parcel Returned Merchandise. You would then have to deal with Revenue Canada to get any unnecessary tariff paid back.
In hindsight.
You can Block any member.
You can Block communication from Blocked members.
Send the Return Shipping.
Get the item back. With luck they don't own a pair of scissors and you can resell the garment.
You can Block any member without giving a reason.

·1 week ago@reallynicestamps Blocking communications NOW won't work since they're in response to an order, but they will prevent that buyer from buying anything else. I personally would have blocked them before they had bought if they were being that aggressive right from the start, but that's just me (and I very rarely block anyone so that's saying something).
reallynicestamps
·1 week agoI agree that aggressive questions are a red flag and deserve immediate Blocking.
One useful tactic is to have Best Offer enabled, but to have automatic Accept/Reject parameters in place.
When a lowball offer is received, eBay (not the seller) sends a polite and encouraging message telling the member to try again.
I have noticed two or three attempts to meet my sweet spot, without me having to do anything. So far no one has made difficulty about this. Fingers and toes crossed.
