Ebay has gone downhill. I am done, after 21 years.
Summary: beavosorus shares their frustration with eBay after over 21 years of selling, due to issues with listings and unsatisfactory customer service. They discovered a mistake possibly caused by a CSV upload error, yet customer support dismissed their concern and prematurely ended the interaction. chrcof-33 comments on how eBay has become greedy with high shipping costs, emphasizing a shift from auctions to 'Buy It Now' purchases, and criticizes the lack of control over shipping options. mrdutch1001 responds assertively, stating that tracking is essential for seller protection and advises buying locally if international shipping costs are unacceptable. The thread is eventually closed by kh-phdan, encouraging a new discussion if needed.
I have read so many of these posts, and everytime I am like "yep" but I still around.
I think I am walking away.
Tyler has been a great resource, but he is carrying the weight of the company, and is definately due some serious respect. I am tired of having to come to this forum to get problems fixed.
So what happened? I have been busying running other aspects of my business, but noticed my sales have gone down. Finally had to time to sit down and take a look at the problem.....
Turns out nearly 1/3 of my listings messed up. Random listings over the last year, have had either their title wrong, or picture wrong. Description and price are all correct.
So I am not excited about having to manually go through and correct over 100 listings manually. I contact customer support, obviously something messed up in the system. I am treated like **bleep**. "Obviously, I made my listings wrong." 21 years off nearly full time selling, and this is what I get told. I explain that they are random, they were correct everytime I did price adjustments, this isn't a cluster of ones I feel asleep at the keyboard on. Some are over 1 year old, others are newer.
I finally figure out the problem. Looks like one of the *new* bulk editing CSV's I uploaded was randomized.
I told 'Steven'. I figured it out and it must have been a mistake on my end, I must have missorted something in excel. The last edit of the title, etc was the date of my last CSV update.
Happy ending, my fault!
Nope he continued to tell me, that it is impossible to edit the titles in the CSV, and I obviously went through 100 random listings and manually edited the titles one ... by... one.
I was as kind as I could be. I asked for a ticket number. Hoping to follow up with IT, to either confirm it was an error on my CSV upload or a problem in the system.
He closed the chat on me..... Said thank you for contacting us, blah blah blah and closed it....
I know this isn't a big issue and it is just one person, but I am tired, of Ebay making so much money off of us, always siding with the buyer, and then treating us like morons.

·1 year agoEbay unalived itself..big time!!! Lol It so grossly greedy now. Bad taste. The fun/the sales/customers behind it all are gone!! looks good on them. 😃😄
Hardly anyone does auction listings now. Most just BUY IT NOW. Blech. And everything from perfume to pajamas are SO inflated out the yin yang!!! Also! Shipping is outrageous. They don't give cheaper options, especially to Canada.
Back in the day you didn't HAVE to pay for tracking (it was optional) and insurance. Shipping companiess are not crazy high now. It's what sellers charge is.
I don't want tracking.. Or pay to get it fast. That should be MY choice. You know?!
A few are asking $28 for shipping a pair..ONE of nwt underwear to Canada. Lol The underwear were only $4. I just had a 6 items, one was a coat lol.. from another company similar all the way in Florida, $18 CAD not US!! And 3 books from Cali for $9.99
It should cost only $3 to $6 in an envelope! Why not give buyers a cheaper option without tracking \insurance. That high a cost, and I still have to wait up to 3 weeks. LOL EBay is awful now. Not the shipping companies. TACKY.

Tracking is NOT for YOUR benefit...it is protection for the seller!
Purchasing from the USA is YOUR choice and therefore you agree to whatever terms are set up for shipping by the seller. Don't like that? DON'T BUY on line! Purchase your items locally and support local businesses.
