eBay: How about seller protection during Canada Post website issues?
Summary: The discussion centers on the issues caused by Canada Post's website problems, which have prevented sellers from printing shipping labels since June 30th. 4991jack highlights the lack of a statement from eBay regarding seller protection for late shipments due to this problem. ecgt mentions utilizing Snap Ship as a temporary solution, although they are concerned about the absence of eBay discounts. Other participants express frustration over additional costs incurred by using alternative shipping options like UPS or different platforms such as Shippo. There is a general appeal for eBay to address these concerns and provide support or compensation for sellers affected by these disruptions.
Canada Post's mailing labels have been unavailable since June 30 and remain unvailable as of July 3 (a.m.)
eBay's response? Marking SHIPPING OVERDUE on items that can't be shipped without a mailing label.
No statement on seller protection for late shipment defects due to the unavailablity of this service.
That would be so difficult, to give sellers some peace of mind?

·1 year agoI had to take to lose about $3.00 on shipping but shipped one of my items directly though Canada Post tonight to the US. Hopfully they have it fixed tomorrow because one of my items may cost me about $5.00 more to ship it directly through Canada Post or more.

I am not worried about defects or negative feedback but it would be nice if they threw us a bone. Maybe refund a small portion of the final value fees for orders during the past week.
I have had a slow few days, so I only have about 15 orders that were affected so far but that's still probably around $50+ in extra shipping costs between having to use UPS, not getting the level 4 Tracked Packet discounts elsewhere, or having to ship Expedited Lite orders with standard Expedited. Some orders cost a few dollars more, some cost as much as $10 more.

·1 year agoSame here. It cost me $7-$8 more to ship directly through Canada Post. If I had shipped with UPS or Fedex, it would have been $10 more. So far I had to take a lose of $40 for 5 items.

·1 year agoAs of 4:55pm July 3d - I've been unable to get labels through CPC Snap Ship ( log in and go to snap ship and won't go further just blanks out). Netparcel Showing CPC unavailable, Ebay Showing CPC unavailable, Shippo showing CPC unavailable. Local CPC counter unable to generate postage labels.
One package is a Air Force Base so can only use CPC
Super frustrating.

·1 year agoThis is NOT unique to eBay...other selling sites such as Etsy are experiencing same problem...so the reality is this is NOT eBay's problem... This is a Canada Post issue and is NOT eBay's fault...
lady.stark
·1 year agoWell it kinda is eBay's fault if Snap Ship is working but eBay is not.

·1 year agoAnd there was a post from Devon stating it IS (should be) working on another discussion thread but others have and are reporting it STILL isn't.

·1 year agoFrom what I've read, Canada Post has shut off 3rd party label creation while they're trying to fix things.

OP1 year agoNobody said the unavailability of labels was eBay's fault. This issue is will eBay ding sellers for late shipments BECAUSE the labels weren't available.

·1 year agoTrying to ship out a DVD to BC for the past 2 days, The difference in shipping between CP Expedited Lite and any other service is litrally double the price, I can't take that hit on this item. Hope this gets fixed soon and ebay doesn't ding me for late shipment.

If it's under 2cm thick, just send it as oversize lettermail. Untracked, will arrive with the buyer's regular mail. Not available to buy as a label. You either pay at a post office/outlet or use stamps $2.61 (100g), $4.29 (200g)

·1 year agoThanks but I don't send anything without a tracking #. Been burned too many times for that to happen ever again.

·1 year agoTook a small hit and went to snap ship, and put myself on time away...at least i was able to ship in time but not happy having to pay more to do so.

·1 year agoSnap Ship is for working for Solutions for Small Business customers this morning on the Canada Post website. We just finished printing off labels for six parcels and have several more to go. Fingers crossed it doesn't glitch out.

·1 year agoThank you for the info. I was also able to buy my shipping labels on the Canada Post website (although for me the 'discounts' were nowhere near as high as on eBay).

·1 year agoWe're taking a small hit on the price of shipping through Snap Ship, but it's better than leaving our customers in limbo or having to cancel transactions. Who knows how long it will be before the Canada Post eBay shipping labels are functioning again.
