Ebays Customer Service Lies
Summary: wpgbob shares their frustration with eBay over a seller protection issue, where they had a tracking number for an item that wasn't delivered, but eBay did not recognize it. They accuse eBay of lying about sellers' protection coverage. ricarmic suggests that wpgbob may have missed attaching the tracking number to the case manually, and advises contacting eBay for a potential reversal if the tracking proves delivery. marnotom! highlights the necessity of linking the tracking number to delivery confirmation to protect against non-delivery claims. femmefan1946 asks questions about the case details and emphasizes that any claim with Canada Post should include the tracking number for processing. They also point out better ways to contact eBay through social media for more authoritative responses. Overall, the discussion focuses on handling tracking and claims properly with eBay and postal services.
I went through a process with ebay on a seller not receiving an item. Now i had gone to the post office and secured a tracking number...but this means sweet fanny adams to ebay.. Told me i had sellers protection...a lie and now when it comes to pay well they are long gone. I did take out postal insurance but ebay still lied to me about the coverage.

·2 years agoThe phone reps have a terrible reputation for getting you off the phone as soon as possible even if that means giving you the advice you want to hear instead of the advice you need to have.

·2 years agoYou are the seller?
You bought * a tracked service.
Did you enter the tracking number** on the transaction?
The buyer made a Not Received claim.
Did you enter the tracking number on the Claim?
Did the tracking show:
Any of these will normally win the case, but eBay needed you to enter the tracking number.
they are long gone.
Who is "they"?
I did take out postal insurance
Postal insurance is purchased from Canada Post, not eBay.
Did you make a claim with Canada Post. CPO will need your tracking number.
*Did you know you can get discounts on shipping at the counter by having a Solutions for Small Business account?

** If you buy your shipping label on eBay, you get discounts on most services, but Lettermail is not available online.

·2 years agoAgree with @ricarmic that there isn't a lot we can go on here, but I'm wondering if there was some miscommunication. Tracking numbers don't protect sellers against non-delivery claims unless the tracking associated with the number confirms that the item was delivered to the buyer. If the buyer doesn't receive their item, they're entitled to a refund from the seller. The seller then files an insurance claim with the carrier to mitigate their loss.

·2 years agoThere isn't a lot to go on from your note, but the most common mistake I see folks making is NOT attaching the tracking number to the case.
Despite the fact that the tracking number is attached to the item(s) sold, it has to be manually added to the case by the seller before the due date.
Another common mistake is when eBay says it needs to be done by "November 4th" they really mean by 11:59 November 3rd as the automagic process kicks in at about 3 minutes after midnight on the "due" day.
Whilst I still rely on the "on the phone" folks, others have more success with the facebook etc folks. Given you have a tracking number if you get back in touch with them and advise you didn't know it needed to be attached manually to the case, you'll likely have a good chance of it being reversed, but again, we don't know much about what really happened from your note....
