EIS + Ebay blue banner warning mess

I have looked at some Canadian sellers listings who are using the EIS program in Montreal for instance and it appears as if the shipping fee to the USA for a small item is 2 1/2 times the rate I get through chitchats. Keep in mind I live in Toronto so mine probably won't be quite that high but i'd imagine I won't be able to offer $10 CAD shipping fee for small items if I were to use the EIS. If it was $15 or under TOTAL I would consider it but anything above that and it will scare customers away. Perhaps the EIS might be worth it on larger $ items above $50 in value that are made outside of North America and arent covered by CUSMA but small items made in North America covered by CUSMA will likely not be worth it unless you literally live in Mississauga and can just drop the item off yourself.
I also noticed that for the Canadian seller using the EIS program the annoying and falseblue banner by ebay warning about tariffs disappears. If this is any indication it seems like ebay is going to coerce us into using the EIS program or else the false blue banner will plague our listings. I really do hope this warning disappaears or they at least change the wording.Most of my store is handmade stuff and is all CUSMA certified with a broker through chitchats. My customers absolutely do NOT pay any tariffs on my product so what ebay is doing is false advertising and hurting honest sellers.
Either lose sales from the banner or lose sales from huge shipping fees....or....only sell high dollar/ hard to find items. Really seems like a squeeze on sellers who sell small/ low value items especially if they are CUSMA compliant items.
Hope they sort this out before mid November when holiday shopping really starts ramping up. Seems like an act of self-sabotage on the behalf of ebay. Force a false warning onto every listing no matter what OR force sellers to use a shipping program that is at least twice the cost of what Canada Post ebay labels or Chit Chats is. Lose lose situation here.
I am fine not using EIS becase I live near a Chit Chats but I am NOT fine with ebay sabotaging my shop with their false advertsing warning on all of my CUSMA registered listings. Come on ebay. Put some effort into the warning on our listings and at the very least reword it because as it stands its a blatant lie because my shop is overwhelmingly CUSMA compliant and broker approved.

OP10 months agoI sell CUSMA compliant items 80% of the time so Canada post isn’t an option because they aren’t able to handle CUSMA exemption.
For me and many others chit chats and stallion express are the only competitive ways to sell smaller CUSMA compliant items.
Ups/ FedEx and the EIS program are all expensive shipping options that I can only see being beneficial for larger or harder to find items.
If you’re selling handmade stuff or stuff of North American origin in the under $50 category and smaller size stuff you’re going to have a hard time being competitive in the US market:

But I can specify more than one shipping option. Quicker more expensive and another slower service if I choose. So why not EIS and Tracked Packet ?

·10 months agoThere are about 200 countries in the world and they're all affected by the Trump Tariffs differently. It's probably a bit much to expect eBay to start getting specific about when tariffs do and don't apply for purchases from specific countries when eBay can't even get general information right on the "learn more" page linked on the blue banner. Once Canada Post gets rolling all we can hope for is that if Canada Post is a selected shipping option the blue banner goes away as that option requires pre-paid duties/tariffs. That would put an end to using generic "Standard International Shipping" as an option and Canada Post specific shipping options with the tighter time frames but that can be managed.
What I wonder is if the listings with EIS also have Canada Post as a shipping option. Can you have Canada Post as the primary shipping option that buyers see and EIS as a 2nd option. Or is it just EIS or nothing.

There would be no shock on my part on that. That was what automatically happened with the eIS program rolled out for shipments to Canada. Again, another fine time for buyers to have the option to exclude when they search eIS as a shipping option. Why it is next to impossible even when one checks lowest shipping option to find sellers using better more economical shipping choices.
From my understanding it is either opt in or opt out. Opted in is the default. As you stated perfectly giving buyers choice would be optimum. Both for price and speed. Very likely that would be dreamworld scenario. Considering you can't choose both Flat rate and calculated with a listing. In many cases that would work great for Canadian sellers because of how distance affects the final price. And unless a buyer messages prior to payment if there are additional options sellers are back in a predicament of having to refund and relist with the CP option. EXTREMELY annoying when it is a high valued sale. Also have to factor in combined shipping as a possibility and what happens with pricing/billing especially when eBay will never know actual final size and weight before the seller ships to hub and will be basing on guesswork. Also important to remember many sellers if they were using Flat Rate in the past they may not have actual measurements included in their listing details.

No, your existing shipping policy will still be visible to buyers, who will have the choice between eBay International Shipping and whatever shipping policy you offer to that country. If you do not have a separate shipping policy to a particular country, your item will be visible to buyers with eBay International Shipping, meaning all your orders to that country will flow through the eBay International Shipping program.
Workaround "could be" not including a Coo with your listings. In many cases sellers were never asked for that info originally and seeing as eBay has not provided an easy way to determine which items are missing it (unless they plan on adding a column in sellers hub) it will take major time for sellers to start adding that info. In my case it could be as much as 70% with it being missing/unknown. It would be even higher if you factor in items that don't qualify as per eBay rules and regulations.

Currently there are 140,000 plus paper money listings marked Canada only that would be eliminated. 66,000 were auction. Number would change once sellers turn shipping back on to USA with belief they would be permitted. 14,000 +++ for coins. 600,000 + stamp listings. Bzzzz but thank you for playing along!!!!
In comparing apples to apples...kinda $ limit with the Canadian/US programs are $2500 USD. Info attached below from dot com. Was unable to locate similar mirror info on ca. (Example: Auction listings; If they are allowed? Not permitted on com.) It's likely a discussion post may be required to get ALL of our questions resolved about the Canadian program BEFORE it goes live so there are no last minute surprises.

·10 months agoThis is incredibly important. There should be no banner if the buyer utilizes Canada Post or a legally abiding prepaid service. It is simply wrong and if they can remove it on EIS services they can on any service that doesn't charge at the door - not to do so is an illegal unfair practice.
Any news if eBay has turned Canada Post (with their large buying discount) back on? The discount made a huge difference when it came to shipping costs. It didn't seem to affect my selling amount any but I'm sure the buyers appreciated the difference, whether they realized it or not. It was also much easier and more efficient to purchase postage through eBay, but the Canada Post Business SnapShip also works well (though we haven't tried it with this Zonos nonsense.)
The banner however has made a difference as my buyers have said outright they are hesitant to buy because of the banner even when I assured them there would be no such charge.
We are not using the EIS system because charging our customers x2-4 times the amount for postage for a private broker to reap exhorbant profits would be contributing to the global rise in corrupt practices, not to mention double the amount of carbon emissions. Postage is postage, handling is handling, and taxes and tarrif's aren't arbitrary. If I can send it for $20 my buyer can pay that, there is no reason they should be charged any greater an amount.
