eIS Going forward for Canadians
Summary: lotzofuniquegoodies inquires about expanding eIS shipping options for Canadians to match the US version, including transparency on item restrictions and better shipping options. john_koenig99 shares their approach to offering shipping choices and discusses some perks and challenges of the current system. treadstone68 expresses skepticism about eBay's ability to address eIS issues effectively, while acknowledging that eIS has helped maintain cross-border sales despite ongoing bugs and problems. The discussion highlights varied experiences and perspectives on eIS shipping among Canadian sellers.
@devon@ebay eIS for Canadians has been available for almost a year. We know that there have been countries that have been removed for certain reasons that are out of our control. Are there any plans to add more available countries to the allowed list to make it comparative to the US version. Any plans to add more product lines that are approved? Some kind of error message explaining to users that/why certain items are not permitted with the program. (For transparency and reduce confusion and reduce items being shipped to hub and then stopped in their tracks.) For both buyers and sellers sake? Any plans to add the Government/courier version of forms that users require for shipping. Lastly when will CP DISCOUNTED services be removed for US shipping. Or give sellers better option/applicable services for Intl shipping. In US preferences sellers can choose which discounted services. It's not all or none. Canadian's cannot. Maybe a way for sellers to specify eIS shipping for ONLY the USA and leave their Intl shipping to sellers preferences. (When it is legal and permitted to do so.) From feedback I have received from other Canadian sellers, they are waiting desperately for these answers so if you can get back to us ASAP it would be greatly appreciated. Many of these suggestions would/could definitely help assist sellers and eBay's bottom line.
Plus a system in place for combined shipping and mixed lots. (Items of different countries in the same listing.)

·Aug 8, 2026 at 4:34 AMWhile the things you list appear useful, I don't have much faith that eBay would do it right. EIS is full of bugs, and there is another message thread that is 4 months long and being added to often. see eIS not working! Comment if you're also having a problem!

·Aug 8, 2026 at 2:42 PMI get that you are getting quite a lot of problems with some eIS listings, and there are definitely issues that need to be addressed.
But it's also true that for a lot of Canadian sellers (including me) the program has made a huge difference when it comes to maintaining sales to the US (and some countries overseas). When the tariff debacle hit last year, I was ready to just block all US buyers. If they hadn't started eIS in Canada, that would still be the case nowadays.

·Aug 9, 2026 at 5:09 AMI'm not sure I want to go through the hassle of going into incognito mode in a seperate browser, enter a fake US zip code, find my listing on eBay.com just to verify that it is listed, then check that it is showing a shipping charge that is 10X the amount that it would cost for me to ship it myself.

·Aug 7, 2026 at 1:16 PMThis part I am able to do it by adding CP Xpresspost to my shipping policy, and the buyers overseas are able to see it and choose it, in addition to eIS. Buyers from the US see the eIS option only.

From a western standpoint CP Tracked works well for the countries it is applicable to. During my 20 years + selling I have used Xpresspost for Intl shipping maybe 5 times at most. For most buyers it's just not an economical option in most situations. For tracked stuff just arrives quicker and with a more direct path. (Less risk of damage and better chance customs is charged correctly.) East.... Mtl and on its way. West...Vancouver and on its way.

·Aug 7, 2026 at 2:18 PMI understand your point. For me, with few sales on average, I had buyers in Europe who preferred Xpresss post, which was still cheaper than the eIS option, and they took care of the custom cleareance themselves. It's also an alternative to countries still not covered by eIS, like Brazil.
Of course, if available and amenable, I offer alternative shipping options like Chit Chats, previously agreed with a buyer, in a case by case basis.
