Expedited Lite - Billed Twice for the same eBay Label

Has anyone had this occur? If so how one could be reimbursed as the chat bot isn't helpful?
On June 24 I rec'd an order for one ball cap. I shipped it via Expedited Lite. See email receipt.
I was billed $8.75 for the label and on June 26 the money ($8.75) came out of my Adyen balance.
On June 27 eBay took $9.80 out of Adyen for the same ball cap order with the same order number and the same tracking number. No 2nd label was printed, label price is different and eBay never sent a 2nd label receipt or any surcharge transaction.
Not sure if it's relevant but apparently the package size was changed on printing by eBay to 5 x 5 x5 cm. The box was 21 x 16 x 12cms. The total weight was under 200 grams.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Like you and many others I've had the same issue but did not notice it until recently. Unfortunately in looking back i've had 17 packages impacted for a loss of over 170 dollars. All my packages sent were under the limits - 14X14X15 (2,960 Cubic CM) and for sure under 200 grams. I've spent countless hours with Ebay trying to figure things out with all my service requests being ignored. Until its resolved I've stopped using the service but refused to give up my quest to get this one resolved for everyone. What was exceedingly frustrating was no ones ability to explain to me the reason for the overcharge. I wont waste time by sharing all my pain!
Yesterday I finally spoke to a supervisor who took the time to review my overcharges and fully explained the reasons behind it. Canada post charges based on the greater of two factors - Volumetric Weight or the actual weight of the package. My weight was fine - all around 140 to 180 grams. My volumetric weight was not - 2,960/5000 = .592 KG. Fair enough - Canada post is normally in their rights to levy the charge.
What this means is only packages 999 Cubic CM would qualify thereby making this service useless for most boxed items - 999/5000=.1998 Grams. So boxes under 10X10X10 or equivalent dimensions would work or oversized mail envelopes as the long as the height was reasonable. Unfortunately anything I use envelopes for is over the weight limit of 200 grams.
The good news is the supervisor and me are working on a fix. I pointed out that under the FAQ for expedited lite on the Ebay.ca website, fourth from the bottom, ebay states that Cubing charges do not apply. As long as the actual package dimensions are within the specifications outlined!
The supervisor is escalating this to the management team and I'm going to write an essay to Ebay's head office. Together we will have hopefully solved this. It will most likely take some time so there no point in talking to ebay and definetly no reason to call Canada post. Hopefully if solved Ebay will provide an update but if not, or my theory is wrong, I will post again. I posted this so everyone can understand, save time and just wait it out.
Im not sure why no one at Ebay has noticed this but it was the same when I pointed out the error when expedited Lite first came out. If you recall they allowed the service no matter what the package size. With working with ebay I had them fix it so it would only offer the service with the correct dimensions and weight in place. Hopefully I can get the same results in this case.
If anyone sees a hole in my logic please make a comment.
Note for anyone wondering if "cubing charges" is the same as volumetric weight here is a comment from DHL on the net:

·1 year agoI don't think that's the issue. I've sent out lots of expedited lite packages that were well over 200g cubic with no problems (only a couple have been upcharged incorrectly). There might be an issue if it's over 500g cubic and under 200g actual, not sure.

In theory if the item is over the allowable limits seller would get an error message and then system would not let them proceed. That's what happens if you try to put through a US tracked at 2.01 + kg. You have to choose USA Expedited or USA Xpresspost. When it happens after and there is a revised charge it should come with an explanation. Example: When measurements are entered in correctly. With an error message seller could "try" to repackage to meet guidelines, if possible or have to absorb the cost difference. and will also let them know...when or if there is a next time.
If they are audited re-weighs they still should deserve an explanation.

·1 year agoI agree with your comments and what makes this even more interesting is just like the US tracked example you provided, the safeguards do work. If the seller exceeds the limitations the eBay label the system will promptly remove the Expedited lite option.
In regards to the audited re-weights an improvement in the system would be great. You are right, we deserve an explanation. As a seller I had no idea Canada post was charging me as it looked like a normal label purchase. This is why I didnt notice until I had a really slow selling period. Saw I got charged for a label and I had not sold anything.
To summarize, the reason why I think I'm onto something here:
1) All my packages follow eBay's guidelines of under 3,200 Cubic CM and under 199 grams. All accepted by the label system. I take pictures of each item as I pack as well as taking pictures of the scale(and yes after taping and labeling 🙂 ) . In addition I had the post office weigh on their scale so it would reflect the actual weight on my receipt. It matched my scale.
2) eBay confirmed my packages were charged due to Volumetric weight after doing a detailed dive into my issues
3) eBay sepecifically states - "As long as the actual package dimensions are within the specifications outlined, cubing charges do not apply."
Anyways, looking forward to the result of the investigation and will post whether my theory is wrong or correct. All I can tell you is Expedited lite is broken.

·1 year agoI think you're right about there being a 500g volumetric weight limit! I've been overcharged/ charged twice for 25x16x7cm boxes several times.
But since then I've been keeping my packages 2500 cubic cm or less, and I haven't been overcharged again. Bingo!
Either that or there's definitely an issue with their calculation. Keep 'em SMALL!

·1 year agoAlthough I mentioned 17 packages were charged I should add that many others got through. I was thinking the same thing as you, perhaps there is a trick with the dimensions. I decided to use a 16X12X12 package or 2,304 cubic CM. Unfortunately for me I got hit with a fee again.
eBay needs to provide clarification as they have said:
"As long as the actual package dimensions are within the specifications outlined, cubing charges do not apply." No one at eBay seems to have been aware of this. I suspect because most representatives are in the US.
If I could only have eBay's postage account number I could call Canada post direct and find out for sure. I still think Canada post has a system error due to this being a one off agreement with eBay. Remember Expedited lite does not exist in this format anywhere else.

·1 year agoI've had great success with packages 21x14x6cm. But that's way under the allowable size. Who knows what their calculation is doing if you're still getting hit at 460g volumetric weight! Maybe it's 450g? Who knows!

·1 year agoIt's great to hear and I appreciate you sharing the sizing solution. From the sounds of it it looks like you found that sweet spot where Canada post lets it go. Unfortunately it's too small of a box for me and many others.
I just hope this can be fixed so all Canadian eBay sellers can use it for what it was designed to do. It's great that eBay negotiated this special shipping service but a shame to let it go to waste over a technical error.
In an ideal world I'd like to see the weight up to 500 grams even with a larger fee but now I'm dreaming!

In the neverending theme of when cubing does or doesn't apply I spotted this in the CP disclaimers regarding the subject. Note middle section. Unsure how often this happens. I do know lately, while in line I have spotted folks mailing stuff in those plastic baggies. This would definitely cause items to be get scanned later down the line and have original measurements suddenly magically morph into something different.
Where we charge the base price on the basis of our audit,
price adjustments will appear on your next invoice or a
subsequent invoice.
Note: Package shape and dimensions may change during
transit, which can affect the package’s dimensions and,
therefore, the volumetric equivalent of its actual weight.
Canada Post reserves the right to adjust the price and
surcharges, as the case may be, based on the altered
dimensions.

Remember not to have head inside hat when nuking. I would also advise leaving house and confirm home insurance is paid when testing this method!!! Just to err on side of caution!!!

Another example of doing something one way on ca and doing completely different on dot com. As per eBay staff majority of features/interfaces "should" mirror between the 2 sites. That is rarely the case when it comes to anything and how it displays. Anything involving historical data is a very good example of this.

eBay modifying inaccurately what the seller has entered will never be considered a good thing. If there is a valid reason behind it, it needs to be properly explained. Even worse the fact that it has been gong on since day 1 with this service and it goes back even farther with the customs part and country of origin.

When you review those measurements on dot com the order gets switched to width x length x height. Recent shipment I sent was 44 long x 30 wide x 10 high. It became 30 x 44 x 10 (sides being referred to are not noted). Revised dim weight shows on label but not on that dot com screen. Hopefully this is not messing with girth when it is being applied by eBay when it actually could be?
CP:
The calculation for girth using CP is — Girth is (height x 2) + (width x 2).
Even USPS expresses measurements as length x height x width
Did someone "assume/transpose" something incorrectly when the eBay Label tool was originally created causing these discrepancies? From my visits to the dot com board concerns regarding charged postage pop up from time to time. Have they been addressed? Who knows?

Seeing exactly what you are seeing on dot com. No clear explanation as to the reason behind the upcharge. (Line about upcharge missing from Labels dropdown.) Clicking on the upcharge details it shows the original amount that should be charged but no totally to link (associate) them together. In theory there should be 2 dates displayed. 1 showing date created. 2nd showing date charges procressed. Just shows it was...not the when. So no to the explanation question.

·2 years agoI had another expedited lite upcharge. It looks like eBay has updated how they report these (an improvement although we still need to know whether actual weight or dimensional weight is the culprit). Here is what my latest one says:
While it was close to actual weight, I know it was under because I measured it on two scales, one of which is a high precision scale that I've checked with calibration weights. Both scales said it was under with room to spare. It was definitely under the volumetric weight, because this new reporting format actually TELLS you the volumetric weight. Multiply by 5 to get the cubic volume, which in this case is 530 x 5 = 2650.
I'd love to know whether this is a bug or whether Canada Post is getting the weights wrong or something. In this case if I just need to make sure there's more wiggle room (limit it to 180g or something), that's fine, but we need to know. Continually eating upcharges on low value items isn't sustainable, especially when they're measured and weighed correctly. This is now 4 times for me in the last 6 weeks after NEVER having one previously. Devon doesn't seem to be around right now, but I'll give it a shot. Luke, if you see this, I can give you a listing of the 4 I've had if it helps.

There is a crazy work around for that. Inflate measurements to meet minimum requirements and then decrease to actual measurements if/when item sells. The smaller measurements work with cp and ebay labels. As it was pointed out to me years ago on here that is a longstanding glitch with the ebay listing creator. You receive an error message if you enter 2.01 and tracked to USA. If you are under eBay will hide those services when a buyer checks shipping options. (The 4 x 4 x 4" box is a stock US creation. Acceptable with USPS) (5 x 5 x 5 cm is whimsical. Not even large enough for 1 stamp with to & from labels. Possibly a neutron microscope for the system to read but have not yet tested that theory.)

·2 years agoI use 4x4x4 from time to time within Canada. They're great for small figures and toys. 8x6x4 is also an extremely useful size, just not for expedited lite. I get mine from Staples though, and I use the shipping supplies coupons for other stuff that's harder for me to get.

The "list" price on a single eBay 4 x 4 x 4 is $1.73 all in. A bundle will consume your coupon. You can't use them for tracked packet. Most of the time I find it safer to pack tiny things in larger less crushable or "lose-able" packages and the shipping cost is the same.
You might consider using the coupon for something else and buying Staples 4" x 4 x 36 (11 x 11 x 93cm) as an alternative. They can be used for poster length items to 36 " without a tube charge. They can easily be cut to any length you want including 14 cm (4" x 4" x 5.5 ") which makes them elligible for tracked pack USA. They can be cut to five 4 x 4 x 4s for a cost of 32 cents a box. Easy if you make a flap template. Then you only have to store one box for many different size orders.
My last price was $1.44 per box in bundles of 25 (much less than a single eBay 4 x 4 x 4). Price has probably gone up since my last order as one bundle muliplies like rabbits.

·2 years agoI've been using the coupons for 16x12x8, 15x10x6, 12x10x8, 10x8x6, and 6x4.75x4.75 boxes (which are really useful btw). Other sizes I've been getting from either Staples or Rona.
On a side note, does anyone know of any bubble mailers that are equivalent in quality and low profile to the old eBay branded ones from a few years ago? The lack-of-quality on the new ones is getting to the point where I'm not sure I trust them anymore for sending out CDs and DVDs. The Staples and Uline ones puff up too much for lettermail. Has anyone tried the Quality Park, UCGOU, HBlife, Fuxury, or Metronic ones from Amazon?

For 1st quarter I tried the eBay tissue paper and thought it was a good use of the coupon as well. I don't use a lot (mostly for vintage clothing) but it's nice to have it new and in a dispensable box when needed.

·2 years agoIf you need cheap void fill for other things, Staples sells newsprint rolls that are 24" by 720 feet for $15. It lasts forever and works really well. I've probably reduced my bubble wrap usage by 75%.

·2 years agoThis also happened to me more than once. I made special note of the last package I sent July 12th because I see somehting wrong here. Item #256349131444, a 9" plush. The package measured 24x13x9 cm, weighed 198g, verified weight with post office, even upped my 23cm to 24 because it was right on the 23 line. I was charged an extra 7.90 because Canada Post said it weighed .54 kg, 540 g. Over a whole pound. There is no way to challenge from what I found. It was less than 3220 volume and weighed less than 200g. I am no longer offering Expedited Lite as a shipping option.

·2 years agoThe dimensional weight would be .56 kg which is what it would be if it was figured out as an expedited parcel. So I am still wondering if the dimensions that are set up on the ebay calculator are the actual dimensions that Canada Post is using for expedite lite. Or is there another problem. Just guessing here.

·2 years agoYeah, as @pjcdn2005 indicated, the volumetric weight of your package was about 562 g.
An actual weight of 198g is really cutting it close to the max - it's very easy for the weight to record at 201g at some point on it's journey, at which point it's going to automatically calculate as an Expedited Parcel and charge you based on the voumentric equivalent of weight.
At least I assume that's how Canada Post's system works with Expedited Lite. Anything we posit is really just conjecture at this point.

Because volumetric is applicable to this service (expedited lite), shouldn't eBay labels pick up on that when the parcel is OVER the limit. Then at that point block you choosing that as an option. In some cases sellers may be able to MacGyver the box and make it under the limit. Not a given but then they don't get an upcharge after the fact that cannot be recovered. If you were to purchase a label at the counter that is the info the agent would provide. You're over the limit....your call!! Otherwise this is just poorly designed software!!!
@dinomitesales Are ya conjecturing based on experience that if it is reweighed by an agent in person there is wiggle room built in? If it is done by bots during the process wiggle room goes out the window?

OP2 years agoA video was released a few hours ago by Galaxy CDs Rocks and Flips. It's called "A Shipping Glitch that Isn't a Glitch". He talks about a new eBAy (not USPS) cutoff weight of 15.98 ounces where formerly their cutoff was 16 ounces.
He goes on to say they usually use weights with fudge factors built in but it's not working all of a sudden on eBay. He offers tests on other 3rd party platforms and the status quo of estimating say, putting 16 ounces when the actual weight is 15 1/2 is still working without any extra charges.
The advanced shippers are avoiding extra charges by buying the labels on places like Pirate Ship.
Maybe the change there was mirrored in eBays software integration in Canada.
For example, if eBay was receiving a large number of overweight shipment claims from Canada Post that required their resources to correct with the sellers possibly eBay Canada has set up a similar system as the US.

OP2 years agoExpedited Lite has been great for me. I love the service. It's only getting chargebacks from eBay that give no reason that bothers me. It's only happened to me this once. I know my weight was OK. I have a 25 gram "fudge factor" in my packing. In this case I chose to box the item. In retrospect I should have cut it down another cm.
It's possible CP has reduced tolerance with these inexpensive fares. They are still the best thing that's happened to domestic tracking!

First off thank you all for the helpful input! I dismissed this too soon and was willing to accept the idea "It's not eBay it's me". this wasn't me, it was eBay.
In the words of "Adrian Monk" "Here's what happened:
The box qualified for Expedited Lite in both size and weight. I simply got ripped off.
Since 1981 I've maintained proper shipping habits. All outgoing orders have an order ticket. All shipments get at least one photo of the package. The order ticket shows the details when the item was listed AND any changes to them when the item was shipped. the final package after labelling is weighed and checked to be under the label weight.
eBay provided no explanation for the 2nd and different billing with the same order and tracking number on the billiing. Their labels have erroneous package size information on them. That meant all of this has been speculation as to what happened. I did manage to end the speculation.
Here is a photo of the order ticket. You can see the outgoing height of the box is crossed out and changed from 12 cms to 9 cms at the time of shipping. Here's a picture of the package itself with the label on it. You can see the arrows at the folds showing the box was cut down in height by 3 cms. The cubic cms were in fact 3024 and much less than the max for Exp Lite of 3220.
I remembered having to Frankenbox this to come in under the Exp Lite max. It was a NOS vintage hat that deserved a box not a bubble mailer. Cost me money for the good service but the buyer appreciated it and gave me great feedback.
In summary eBay rippoed me off. It's not worth the $10 bucks trying to get their attention. Reading thru the kind replies it's clear eBay "has left the building". Previously the small issue would have taken a quick chat with eBay or a friendly call for an adjustment. I thought other's might want to watch their billing.
Once again a big thank you for the input!
I'd like to add I don't use ANY of eBay's financial statements other than individual transaction details. I don't use monthly statements/ annual statements nudda. I use in house software and make entires on a transaction by transaction basis. eBay balances with me not the other way around. It's easy.

·2 years agoYour Order Ticket also indicates 200g, which is the max for Expedited Lite. A little extra tape, the label, labelope, or even that sticker you attached to the box could easily bump it up above 200g.
In the end, these are just automatic charges made by a Canada Post computer sorting/processing and passed along to eBay to be charged to the customer. There's a risk of this happening whenever your package is very close to the maximum dimensions for a particular service. It's even possible that if you had the item inducted at a post office that their scale was off by a bit and it registered as more than 200g when being originated - it's very easy for those scales to get out of whack by a few grams and need to be zeroed out every once in a while.

No, that's not true. Like I said I've been doing this for more than 40 years. All packages are only weighed after tape, labels, stickers etc. It's also checked to be sure it's under any possible scale error (ours or Canada Post's) for a minimum margin for error of 25 - 50 grams. I actually over pay Canada Post.

I've never found it necessary to put 199 grams on a label to qualify for EXP Lite. Has anyone else?
Almost all our Exp lite labels have a weight indicating 200g for shipments of 150 grams. Because eBay charged me giving no explanation it's speculation it was for an alternate service. I think if the unexpected came from Snap Ship on my credit card there would have been a reason given.

Do you know if I had bought the label from Snap Ship and they charged extra to my credit card do they give any reason? There should be something so a book keeper can expense it properly and ideally a breakdown showing the GST. I think that comes with Snap Ship.
Something else occured to me about the destination. A little less than a year ago you had the same problem and posted to see if the destination might have been excuded from CP Exp Lite. I don't see any solution in that thread. This package went to Fort MacMurray. Is it possible Fort MacMurray is excluded from Exp Lite ?

The only exceptions for expedited lite "should" be the air stage offices. Those are available at the CP website. Fort Mac would be a standard not affected point. I believe it works the same way from my testing of rates with Expedited. Discount is less. In a pinch when items will fit you could still use the prepaid products and hopefully make a small amount of savings.
Here is how it looks to dot com sellers when a revised bill comes through for UPS. Just too bad they can't use the same practices for ca sellers.

·2 years agoNo, that isn't possible - as Lotz said it's likely just Air Stage offices. If the destination was excluded from Expedited Lite it wouldn't have even given you the option to pay the Expedited Lite price based on the destination postal code.
If your items weigh 150 g I would be entering the weight as 150 g when printing the label, not 200.

Thanks for confirmation the destination wasn't a problem. As far as Canada Post's part we will never know. Possibly the CP employee left a donut on the scale. The issues are there is no category expense on eBay's invoice. There is no efficient way to recover the $9.80 from them if it is an error. There is no GST tax breakdown on the transaction.
You didn't answer if Snap Ship would clarify these charges if it processed a chargeback. I think the answer is yes Snap Ship does. Lotz has indicated other eBay partners clarify chargebacks. Many want to know what charges are for and what taxes are being applied.
This is why we voted GST in back in the 80's because Canadians, particularly the western provinces, wanted to know what they were paying for and who was getting their money. We did fall under the HST system as the eastern provinces had but it was very quickly thrown out by referendum because we want to know what we're charged and who is getting the money. I think this is what Lotz has been pointing out in many of his posts.

·2 years agoI agree that there should be a reason given as to why a person is charged more later on.
But more specific than the example Lotz has posted. The reason 'additional handling' could be a number of things so even that is not specific as it should be.

OP2 years agoIt amounts to the same thing as checking out of a hotel and a week later you get an unidentified chargeback on your credit card. It doesn't happen but even if it did you could phone the hotel and straighten it out.

Unsure if there are other variations the seller receives in the USA for revised/amended invoices. Only example I have been able to retrieve so far. Will see if there are others floating about. Because the Labels page states that the seller purchased expedited lite that "should" be reflected on the physical printed label. This would avoid any confusion. Same goes for any amendments. Seller types 23 x 15 x 2 cms that is what "should" print on the label. If you bought a label directly at the post office and the service didn't apply they would tell you then and there. Not come running after you and tell you, you owe more. Now if only Canadian sellers could get an actual detailed invoice when they purchase a label...how things work in the normal world, that shows measurements, weight/dim weight when applicable, taxes, fuel and discount where applicable. That would be Shangrila...and phone numbers. Did we want to include missing optional services to that list?

Was able to track down a different variation. Note all the exceptions are explained including what was charged orginally and the corrected amount. Makes disputing a bit easier when necessary.

Re: Calling it Additional Handling is like lumping all the charges together subterfuge style (not to be confused with gangnam style. Majority(all) accountants would not be impressed.
In reviewing and confirming the 1 time (12 month search) I got a "secondary" charge for postage in happened out of the 90 day window that eBay allows you to search withing the label folder. You can search back further using eBay fees/payout page but on ca they only show as a secondary charge. Not the reasoning/explanation behind them. There was a 3 day lag for the second charge. Unsure how it would work if the billing for postage and the audit happened at the same time or how it would display. In theory charges from the labels page SHOULD mirror the eBay Transaction page.
1 other interesting observation. Found multiple same sized tracked shipments to USA sent within a week of each other where the charges were different within pennies. Because there is no clear explanation of the total charges unsure if this is caused by fuel charge variances or eBay rounding.
To wrap this up in a bow, does anyone know when you send a refund on a promotedly sold item are the promotion fees refunded? It does not appear that they are or does that have to be made by special request. I thought they were but done using the old fashioned tape delay method.
MP may be an improvement from eBay's perspective but with all the discovered nuances sellers can find it does very little to make life easier.

As a side in speaking to another seller who in the process of creating a shipment received that very scary warning message about "being close to the limit" all I could share was either, if possible shrink packaging as safely as possible or document and watch for secondary charges when/if they arrive. The biggest concern with these charges after the fact is there is ZERO way to recover once buyer has paid. If measurements were accurate when listing was creating cubing SHOULD be applied corrrectly within the calculated rates buyer sees and final label created when item sells. This is most annoying that eBay refuses to honestly address this as an eBay glitch!!!!!

·2 years ago@intimewithmusic In your case, the issue is absolutely the size of the box. I don't know why it allowed you to buy the label while entering those dimensions though.
That being said, over the past month I've had 3 expedited lite labels get upcharged. I know all three were within the size and weight limits (one of them significantly under). I've tried emailing the eBay labels team close to a month ago and got no response. I tried messaging @devon@ebay about a week ago and got no response (Actually, it seems like he's been missing for a while now. Does anyone know if he still works for eBay or is maybe just on vacation?). If you need to dispute a label, you may need to contact eBay through social media.
My local post office has had a few new people recently hired. I'm wondering if they may have processed the labels as returns instead of normal shipments (it's happened to me in the past under my Canada Post SfSB account). If it's reclassified, that would explain the difference in charges.

Devon does appear to be MIA. Last post was around 27th of last month.
Any above and beyond measurements should AUTOMAGICALLY appy the standard Expedited rate right at that point and or blocking you when it goes over. As for the Lite rate that should be attached to the account number on the label which belongs only to eBay. We are just worker bees with access.
Side note: There is a post on Reddit from last year asking about the 5 x 5 x 5 issue.
CP had a test run of a Expedited Liteweight version...started May 2023...Good up to 250 grams but as far as I know that was turfed/tossed to curb/put out to pasture/beyond its expiry date/died an immediate painful death around 6 weeks ago. Link to discussion attached. Link to CP is disabled.

This "was" the disclaimer for expedited lightweight as per cp when it was released.
Yes. These reduced rates have a limit of an actual or volumetric weight of 250 g or less (0.5 lb) for Expedited Parcel . You will be charged for any extra weight at regular rates. Find out how to calculate the volumetric weight of your package.
Along with the nay nay to air stage offices.

Expedited Lite is eBay only for parcels 200g and under.

·2 years agoPerhaps ebay has the dimensions and weight on the expedited lite set up differently than what Canada Post has specified. Since we can't see the ebay/CP actual deal, it is impossible to know what is going on.
It is frustrating that these issues are not addressed by anyone.

OP2 years agoWhether it was a gliche or a revision of service the extra $9.80 isn't enough to spend time on. The additional bill should have some explanation. I keep a balanced set of books. The only indication something was amiss was a $9.80 shortage in my account. I wasted time looking for the discrepancy before spotting the additional charge had the same order number & tracking as the other charge. S there goes my time and $10 not to mention trying to get an explanation from eBay.
To be fair eBay does state this on the receipt "
You may incur additional charges if your package is heavier or larger than the entered weight or dimensions
The problem being the email receipt is called "Shipment Details" but doesn't include the weight and dimensions entered and you can't recall the original form. You can reprint the label but eBay puts the wrong diminsions on it.. They like to stick the knife in and then twist it...Ha ha.

The 5 x 5 x 5 has been the default paste every one of those shipments gets. It's been pointed out but never corrected. Whatever the formula CP uses for cubing is not passing down the line to eBay labels appropriately. So IF or WHEN cubing kicks it comes as a rebill after the fact. Type in 205 grams and blocks immediately from being allowable service.
In doing a bit more digging regarding the Fedex up charges, US sellers do see a revised invoice explaining a reason for it with basic details to the why. I guess something they didn't think worth including for ca sellers.
I have seen a few since switching over to ebay labels from Shippo. All very tiny discrepancies so no big deal. Unfortunately the charge only connects to the original bill. The double bill in your case is strange. Might be a good time to talk to Facebook for business and see if you can get an explanation. CP will pass you back to ebay. Almost a given!!

With Expedited as an example - Canada/USA when cubing kicks in and the labels prints it shows the cubed weight so we should be able to assume that the correct rate was applied as long as the measurements are correct. Years ago ago...not sure how long it did show both actual and dim weight. How it worked for couriers too with the shipping software. That way you could bill your customer shipping correctly and not worry about problems after the fact. When they removed that data it just is causing confusion for sellers. For a revised bill for shipping to seller, there is no reason for it not to include a clear explanation. It's like being quoted 500.oo for a repair and being charged on pickup 1200 mysteriously.

·2 years agoWhen I enter those dimensions on one of my transactions the expedited lite option disappears so is it possible that the correct dimensions were not entered when you made the label? It sounds like they charged you extra for the difference between an expedited lite and an expedited label.
I'm not sure exactly how they figure out the maximum expedited lite dimensions as others have also complained that they were charged extra later on. But 21x16x12 is more than 4,000 cm. I think that it needs to be less than 3220?

Unfortunately, there's no way of knowing if incorrect dimensions were entered to qualify for an Expedited Lite label. As @lotzofuniquegoodies pointed out eBay prints the wrong dimensions on the labels. I don't think the original label form is retrievable.
The box was an eBay 8 x 6 x 4" which is 21/16/12cm. You are right about the max being 3220cubic cm so possibly that's what the 2nd charge is. It went from Kelowna to Ft. McMurray. The 2 labels combined would be $18.55 so you are about right if they billed for EXP instead of Exp Lt.
The cubic cms is enough evidence to say there's no point in persuing a refund. I probably entered the dimensions correctly but I will try it again with the next label and see if I get to expedited lite or if the service is blocked.
The buyer left me some nice feedback so there was a bonus after all.
