Has anyone sold an item to a buyer in colombia through EIS recently?

I haven't shipped anything to colombia before (even outside of EIS), so I have zero experience with it. I told the buyer I'd look into some info for them. eIS Canada does not offer shipping to Colombia, at the moment.
I sold a watch to a buyer in Colombia, almost 3 years ago. Back then, I offered untracked shipping and the watch was sent via CP International Small Packet ( or its equivalent, back then. I can't see my detailed selling history beyond 2 years). I assume the order arrived OK, as I never got contacted or any feedback at all.

·5 months agoThat's weird. I thought the Canadian version of eIS didn't currently support shipping to South America. Are you offering direct international shipping as well as eIS?

·5 months ago@lud-4367 It might be an idea to do a google search on ANY special requirements for shipping to Columbia (Just in case, for your own peace of mind). It looks like eBay is not filtering properly country list according to ca help page. As a side there could potentially be issues depending on item you are trying to send so good idea to err on side of caution.

At last check eis usa offered service to 200 + countries vs Canada and its 30 collection (Columbia is NOT currently included for Canada, but it does appear 7 that were included in previous discussion have now magically been removed.). Best for buyers to check search on the this's and that's of the program. Just type eis into the help search bar and it will give you all the details.
Original post differences between 2 sites. As a test I attempted to add Columbia to my will ship to list to see if a listing updated. So far Columbia does not show but that could be just ebay tape delay kicking in.

·5 months agoIt would be helpful if we could see the listing in question, but I have my doubts that this is a filtering issue.
What might be happening here is that the prospective buyer is browsing the .com site with their shipping location set to the US because they're using a freight forwarder based out of Delaware or Florida to get US-based purchases to Colombia. They found the OP's item and see that it ships to the United States via eIS. They're intrigued. They haven't seen this shipping method before because they've been dealing mostly with US-based sellers and they've had their shipping address set to the United States. They didn't change their shipping location in the listing's drop-down to see if Colombia showed up on there, assuming that because the program is "international," their home country would be included, and messaged the seller with that assumption.
Well, I think that's as good a hypothesis or theory as any, at any rate.
Keep in mind that while US eIS may support delivery to 200 or so countries in general, it doesn't mean that those countries will apply to all listings. You may recall I posted a while back about a listing I found for a vintage Casio watch where eIS shipping was offered, but countries in Africa and/or South America did not show up on the ships-to list as well as some European countries.

With all the reports of filtering issues and how it relates to eIS since it has been dropped on Canadian sellers most anything is possible. One would rationally hope these sorts of problems would have been discovered via eIS USA and would have been addressed BEFORE eIS Canada was punted to Canadians. Wishful thinking on my part!!!

·5 months ago@lotzofuniquegoodies, I can’t accept “filtering” as an explanation as to why Colombia would mysteriously show up as a shipping location on a listing using Canadian eIS.
This assumes that the ships-to list Canadian eIS uses is a heavily filtered version of the same one used by US eIS, but I think it’s more likely that the two lists are separately maintained.
Your point about filtering issues with Canadian eIS is typically cryptic, but if you’re referring to listings where the United States is not present as a shipping location, those instances appear to be related to what eIS crawlers can glean about the nature of the item, just as US eIS may now be filtering shipping locations on that basis.

OP5 months agoIt's just a book, a popular american novel. Accodrding to this page (https://pages.ebay.ca/international-shipping/#faq-6 ), Colombia is included as an eligible country for EIS. I'm not sure why a lot of information here doesn't line up with that, which has me a bit worried, but I think I'll go ahead and ship it anyway since my only responsibility is getting it to the mississauga hub.

·5 months agoWell, they say at the top of the list that "Please note that the list of countries is subject to change".
And in the FAQ of the eIS progrmam, in the SellerCentre, they say this:
What countries can I sell to using eBay International Shipping?
Currently, this program will allow you to ship items to customers anywhere in the United States, European Union, United Kingdom, and Australia. Our team is working to expand this list of countries even further. You can also control which countries you ship to via eBay International Shipping. Once you are enrolled in eBay International Shipping, you can set up and manage your shipping exclusions through your Shipping preferences, Business Policies, or by revising your listings.

·5 months agoMy point is that they EXPECT to have all those countries included the program (as I pointed out in the headline disclaimer).
But in reallity, only the countries listed in the FAQ are currently included. And more should be added, eventually. I don't know of any timeline for such additions.

·5 months agoThis isn't the official page for the eIS program in Canada. That one can be found here - if you go to the FAQ at the bottom you can see that at the moment it only applies to US, EU, UK, and Australia. This is the link shown to you if you go to your account-level shipping settings and click the "Learn More" button for the eIS program.
The page you linked to appears to be a relatively new one that I haven't seen before but is attempting to encompass both the US and Canadian versions of eIS under one umbrella. Notice if you change the ".ca" in the link to ".com" it shows the exact same page with the same information. This could be evidence of an expansion in the Canadian eIS program, but also may just be a hastily produced web page that is providing confusing or conflicting information.
We're all just guessing here as to what's going on in your specific situation - you seem to be selling the item on a different account than your posting account. Has the item in question sold? Can you confirm that the delivery address is the eIS hub in Mississauga? If so, if you click the dropdown menu for "Show recipient address" is it showing an address in Colombia, or USA? I agree with @marnotom! that the most obvious explanation is that the Colombian buyer is browsing via a freight forwarder address and the eIS destination will be USA and not Colombia. I have seen no evidence that the Canadian eIS program will ship anywhere in South America (yet).

·5 months ago@dinomitesales, I don't know how one gets to that web page via eBay, either. I don't see it linked when I go to the Help page and do a search for "international sales." Perhaps @lud-4367 received a link to it when they were notified that they were opted into the program? On the other hand, I find when I do Google searches for eBay pages, I sometimes get links to decommissioned pages that don't have links to them on an eBay site, so maybe that's the case here.
@lud-4367, does Colombia show up as a supported shipping destination when you view the listing page as a prospective buyer? (If it does, that would be a first, as I've never seen Colombia as a ships-to location for a Canadian listing where eIS is used.) I would try to do this if only to try to answer some of your buyer's questions. I think it's also important to find out whether import fees were paid at Checkout or if they're expected to pay them at (or just before) receiving the book. Buyers don't always get a choice between the two options. It would also give you some idea of how long the buyer is going to be waiting for the book.
