Has anyone used Royal Mail (UK) before?
Summary: zee-chan-jpn-books plans to visit London and is considering using Royal Mail to send a package to Spain for one of her repeat buyers, as it's cheaper than sending from Canada. She intends to pass part of the savings to her customer and queries about the VAT process when mailing from the UK. Specifically, she's unsure whether VAT matters where the parcel is mailed and seeks advice on including a packing slip indicating VAT paid as she typically does.
This is probably a bit of a stretch... I'm going to London UK to visit my extended family in September, and one of my repeat Spain buyer said she will be placing her next order near end of August (she usually asks me to put a few books on hold for her before her next batch purchase). I looked up Royal Mail International Tracked Mail price to Spain and it's £12.25 to mail 2kg to Spain, which is pretty much half of the Tracked Packet price (even with eBay discount it's around ~$50 CAD) from Canada to Spain. So I'm thinking of bringing her package to London to mail. I'll pass on part of the savings to her.
My question is about the VAT... is it relevant where I mail the parcel in regards to VAT? Do I just print my packing slip and tape it on the outside of the package with VAT Paid highlighted like I normally do?
