Chitchats until Canada Post labels are brought back to ebay for US orders and then ill go back to that.
I am reluctant to use the international shipping program as I have had problems with it as a buyer buying things from UK to Canada. They are very strict and beauracratic about what they allow to be shipped. For example virtually everytime I buy artists oil paint from UK and I think from the US once it is flagged as hazardous and flammable. This is totally absurd. While the vegetable oil (on its own) that is used in artist oil paints is technically flammable under very specific conditions the paint bound with pigments and inside a metal tube inside of a shipping package its virtually impossible to flammable unless there was literally someone meddling around with the package mid flight who happened to be an expert at starting fires in this manner and even then its incredibly unlikely because the oil is already bound with pigment making ignition so incredibly difficult as if to be compareable to Harry Potter wizardry! Whenever I ship using UPS/ Canada Post/ USPS/ Royal Mail etc. I have no issues but using GSP its a 80% failure rate with them confiscating things.
That and if you ship anything antique youre at risk of getting flagged if it contains ANY wood or anything that MIGHT be ivory. They don't take any chances at all. If they have even the slightest feeling your item is restricted your order is toast.
Basically the global shipping program is only really good for shipping shoes, mickey mouse hats or plastic cups etc. Very basic common/ new stuff. Anythting vintage or slightly out of the ordinary and youre at high risk of the GSP confiscating it.
I hope this new program isn't a beauracratic mess only for shipping cups, shoes and hats etc.
I suspect a number of the other shipping sites will probably handle all of that for us. I'm not selling to the USA until the collection process is in place (and probably not until the international shipping program is brought in).
