Help with combined shipping on eBay
Summary: delbooh is facing challenges with offering combined shipping on eBay, finding the process complicated despite changing shipping preferences and rules. They mentioned issues with a customer requesting combined shipping, leading to listing items as a single lot instead. They also expressed concern about not knowing how listings appear to buyers. lotzofuniquegoodies shared a link related to eBay's policy and said sellers should have the choice to combine shipping. pjcdn2005 noted system problems, advising on the 'request total' option and mentioned that certain items can block this, offering to help set up combined shipping rules properly.
I’m trying to offer combined shipping to customers on eBay but I am finding the process frustrating and unnecessarily complex. Is there an easy way to do it? In the past the buyer would add a bunch of items and “commit to buy”, then ask for a total with the combined shipping—but that doesn’t seem to work anymore. I have read through the eBay help pages on this topic, but not having any luck.
I recently had a customer requesting combined shipping and no matter what I did it wasn’t working for them. I changed my shipping preferences to allow for combined shipping; I set rules; I went through and checked the listings and applied the rules; but it just wouldn’t work. I ended up having to relist and put all of the items as one combined lot to make the sale.
Also, is there a way to see what the buyer’s experience is? I can’t see how the listing displays on their end and so I don’t know if the things I’m doing (changes to settings, etc) are taking effect. Worried I am losing potential sales because of this and don’t know how to fix.
Any tips are appreciated. Thanks in advance for the help!

·2 years agoThere are definite problems with the system in that regard. If your buyer is using a computer, they may be able to request a total by using the request total option in the cart. Often the buyer will get a 'this seller doesn't combine shipping' and in some cases there doesn't seem to be a reason why that happens. However, if any of the items in the cart require immediate payment, are on sale or have free shipping, the request total button will definitely not work. eBay has set it up to work that way although it makes absolutely no sense.
I've never had a problem or heard of a problem with combined shipping rules if they were set up properly so if you do want to set up your listings so that they automatically combine, we might be able to help you with that. Were you trying to set up combined or calculated shipping rules? When you do have them set up properly you should be able to go into your listing as any buyer would, scroll down to the shipping and payments tab and click on it. Near the top of that section you would see an indication of combined shipping such as on this listing.

Offering best offer should NOT be a block to sellers who wish at their discretion combine on shipping. That should be a sellers choice. Not eBay's!!!
