Anyone know what this means?

"Funds available within 24 hours of order delivery Estimated release on Aug 1"

The buyer received it on July 3 and left me glowing feedback. She already sent it to someone on the other side of the country as a gift and I'm still awaiting my funds. I can't run a business like this. Why is Ebay acting as though the product hasn't been delivered when the tracking says Delivered July 3 and she left me great feedback?

I'm not a new seller and the same thing happened to me and no explanation was given to me. I can't run a business like this. If eBay does not get to act their together, I'll go to Amazon but going forward I'm only going sell items to US states only,because apparently Puerto Rico is another world to eBay. I can't afford have my money or held randomly.

By the way when eBay hold your money they make sure they get their fees right away your money you have to wait for. But their eBay fees are not on hold. Tells you all you need to know about them.

If any seller is listing in high risk categories such as electonics, computer games,and/or high value items they can be subject to payment holds at any time and that is not only applicable here on eBay but also on other sites as well...

EBay's transformation especially after dumping PayPal has been its downfall. For those who have been here since 1998/1999 A.K.A the beginning it was not like this. It was more like

Sellers did not ship until they got their money. Wow...imagine that eh? the sellers were trusted 100% and we could use the funds plus the shipping cost from the sale to actually afford to sell the item.We didn't have offer free shipping we didnt have to wait for the money to be released from eBay prison. I resent that I have to be out of pocket for shipping costs. Don't get me started on the fees which are 3 times the cost now! EBay was always a global garage where you could make a Buck quickly. with the motto" you buy as is where is" and not a store that accepts returns and sucks up to the customer . the reason I got on eBay was to sell stuff to to survive in the recession of 99 Now that we are in hard times again it's policies seem very bougie

This is 2025...did you not think after 25+ years that things would have changed? did you expect that everything remained the same here after that length of time?

BTW sellers do NOT "have offer free shipping"; and that when you decide to sell on a site, on eBay or any selling site, that you agree to that sites TOUs, rules, policies...It is your responsibility to know how to play the game before you play...your responsibility to know that as a returning seller you don't get to just pick up and carry on like nothing changed from 25+ years ago...Payment holds are NOT unique to eBay...most every selling site these days has gone that direction...If you are selling on eBay you are considered "as doing business" and therefore abide by business policies.

Perhaps the 2025 eBay is not a good fit for your 1999 ideals or what you think eBay should be or what you want eBay to be or what you feel you are entitled to for your selling needs. This is eBay's site,eBay's playground>don't like them rules? well I guess you can always find another playground that suits you better and fits your needs...

If it has been delivered and the buyer left positive feedback you can call eBay and ask them to release the hold, that's what I had to dol the first few sales and customer service will go in and review the tracking and customer feedback and they should release the funds within 24 hours.

I understand the holds as stated and it doesn't bother me. I can plan around them. I went through it on my first sale. The problem is that on my second two sales the more expensive one that just got delivered says it'll be released on the 16th. They didn't even leave feedback yet. The other one, which was delivered and feedback left a week ago, says it'll be available "within 24 hours of order delivery, Estimated release on Aug 1".

24 hours after order delivery was a week ago. August 1 is several weeks away.

Many buyers don't leave feedback at all. Don't be disappointed if they don't. Once you get a number of sales under your belt, the payouts become much quicker until eventually you'll get them about 2 days after the sale (before the item is delivered). It's a little rougher at first, but don't be frustrated by it.

I recognize your user name, you are the one who asked about invoicing in US funds. If you are a new seller this is the reason for the extended hold. You can't take it personally, it's just the protocol, it's done to everyone new at selling. 12 years ago when I started selling here and PayPal did all the payment, they held my funds for several weeks too, that's just the way it goes. Your seller may have left glowing feedback and be very happy but there is nothing in place that tells eBay that. They just continue with their rules based on dates alone until you are deemed a regular seller. There is still a good chance if there is proof of delivery you could get your funds before that day (Aug. 1), much of what shows is done automatically (for everyone new).

This is set up because of the many times new sellers disappear suddenly (take the money and run), they are just trying to protect the platform. As reallynicestamps has suggested you could contact them to see if they will make the changem based on feedback and proof of delivery. It might not be tomorrow but there is a good chance it could be before August 1 but get the ball rolling and reach out to them.

You are a New seller to eBay and there are rules, policies,restrictions on all new sellers.

"I can't run a business like this." ...barely 4 months into selling on eBay doesn't make you a business; 5 items sold doesn't make you a business, and with 0 items currently listed does not make you a business...

However, with time, effort and P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E, you might become a business...

RUDE comment. Who are you to tell someone they are not a business? Rather it is five days or five years, as soon you start making money you are a business. Waiting 30 days for a payment IS a long time and it's not fair to the seller. The item was delivered yet she is still waiting for HER payment. What is benefit to HER of using ebay if that's the case?

same can be said of most any selling site these days as there are very few reputable, and/or worth the time, effort and $ invested selling sites, that do not have such a policy in place now...This is the new "Normal"= this same withholding payment policy for New Sellers has been implented on most large selling sites; with some of these selling venues withholding a portion of the funds for up to 90 days....

Sellers need to be informed of all the rules and policies BEFORE they list anything on any selling site....

and if starting out without sufficient funds onhand for expenses, equates to a forthcoming hardship before the selling site releases any funds to the seller, then that seller should not be "in business"....

The blame is with the scammers. The funds hold on new sellers is because of abuse from people registering, taking a quick hit on funds and shipping junk or not shipping at all. The 30 days is to provide time too ensure the transaction has gone smoothly and is legit.

When I registered I was aware of the hold, though I can't recall if it was when registering, reading about it up front or when it happened. I do agree that the payment hold information should be more up front and clear. As far as I have seen, it seems to always be 30 days.

I support the policy. eBay has had its share, and still does, of slippery operators and this helps weed them out and give buyers a chance at recourse. It is a barrier to entry for sellers and they should be aware up front so they can plan for it. But it should be more transparency.

Types of holds

While proceeds from your sales typically become available within 1 day of confirming the buyer’s payment, we may place a transaction hold on funds while we ensure a successful transaction.

To reduce the likelihood of a transaction hold, we recommend posting an item the same day your buyer pays for it and following good postage practices, such as adding tracking information to your order.

Tip

If we place a hold on your funds, it will usually be resolved within 30 days, but in rare circumstances it may take longer.

Additionally, we may place a transaction hold on funds depending on your seller status, changes to your account status, or other factors we use to help ensure a safe marketplace in all categories, regardless of whether the transaction is covered by our eBay Money Back Guarantee or not:

New or infrequent sellers will experience transaction holds while learning best selling practices. This helps sellers become established and build a strong selling history on eBay. New sellers typically experience holds for up to 14 days, although sometimes it may be longer

Payment dispute holds

Payout holds

Payout holds are when we hold funds payable to a particular seller, and usually require further seller action on the account.

Personally, the "infrequent seller" tag is kinda BS. I've been selling 3 years, 62 all positive reviews, prompt shipping, 0 complaints. My last 3 sales are on hold until delivery, I was told it was a random hold, because I was an infrequent seller. To me, to hold funds from a good customer with 0 issues, seems to be nothing more than an excuse to hold money.

A - You have been a member since 26-Mar-21 in the United States or 4 years this March (2025)

B - You have sold a total of 33 items thus far during those 46 months or 3.83 years (to date)

C - You are selling on average 9 items per year...

You are an Infrequent Seller, which is why your payments get held.

The same applies to anyone who sells occasionally.

Your FB as a Buyer is irrelevant as it has no bearing on your account, nor does eBay use it. It's a PR thing from the last century.

Their advertising breaches advertising standards. In reality they should tell sellers the truth. "Put your stuff up for sale, send it into the abyss, to a total stranger and we MIGHT pay you for it, some day, but if we do, it will certainly be in the distant future."

When sellers sign up to list and sell on eBay, they agree to ALL the rules and policies of the site and that includes any and all additions,deletions, ammendments,updates,etc,etc,etc. to those rules and policies.

If what eBay offers its sellers, is not agreeable to you ...why are you here? Don't like it here? move on and go elsewhere...

It is a known fact that any of the large selling sites have similar payment holds/reserves=this is NOT unique to eBay.

If sellers don't like the way eBay runs its business, they can choose to stay or go...they can go elsewhere...

Not unique to eBay, and what is not unique to eBay is a ton of bad actors who would just love to register, collect a a bunch of cash from sales they don't fulfill then dissapear..... until the next week when they do it under another name.

Folks have to step back from their situation a second and ask why it is being done. As a seller I had to go through the holds as well when I started, but I still appreciate why they are there as the site would degrade into a complete scammer's paradise without it. Of course there are still scammer issues but steps like the holds help reduce it.

Yes indeed! And although a longtime seller here on eBay, I too experienced the holds on funds due to a 6+month absence from listing/selling during 2021...

But my patience and knowledge of the workings of this site paid off and it was only a matter of weeks before that payout hold got lifted.This is a world of Must Have Now/Instant/Yesterday, but the lack of patience is detrimental to any seller...No seller is going to be a successful seller without Patience!

This is a world of ME, Myself & I, and I DEMAND that I Must Have it Now/Instantly/Yesterday why should I have to wait for my $$$, why should I have to earn my "Merit"

I have been on here for decades how social norms have degraded in the last 20 years is astonishing, but then again look at the state of the Western world...

This is a random post, from a dormant account in Germany, that has not sold anything in over a year and never posted anything on the boards other than reply to this thread.

This smells like a "Sour Milk" post or a hacked account.

Oh, and the info in the profile leads to a closed business on Google Maps in Berlin, nice city was there a few times after the wall fell, good times!

Your customer payments will be Held until you have a track record.

Until you've been selling for 90 days and sold 25 items your payments will be held until tracking shows delivered, or in 21 days if there's no tracking. They can hold the payment for the full 21 days if you're selling in a high risk category.

So far you have only sold five items.

And precious metals /jewelry is a high value/high risk category.

And that policy is from dotCOM, we non-US sellers are often hit with a 30 day Hold.

You can ask eBay to change the restrictions on listing and on payments every 30days. It's best to do this with a Chat not on the phone, because the phone reps don't actually work for eBay but for a sub-contractor.
