I don't understand why I have to pay the entire amount of the product when I fully refund a customer
Summary: traposse is seeking clarification on why they had to fully refund a buyer on eBay, including shipping costs, without seeing a deposit in their account for the balance after fees. They highlight losing the item, the shipping cost, and the refunded amount. mrdutch1001 suggests following eBay's official return/refund processes to ensure protections for both buyers and sellers. ypdc_dennis advises checking the financial details for the transaction and inquires whether the shipping was purchased through eBay.
I need help about how it work when I refund a buyer.
I have sold an item for a total of 24,99 $ including shipping on January 3th on which I pay 3,31 fees so I should have received 21,68 $ from that sale.
On January 5th the buyer told me he's not satisfied by the item so I send him a full refund of 24,99 $.
On January 8th EBay took 21,68 $ from my account (which is the amount I should have received after the fees).
It's the second time I send a full refund to a buyer and the same thing also happened the first time.
That would make sense if the 21,68 $ was deposited in my account but that was not the case.
So I lost my item, I lost 12 $ to ship my item and I lost 21,68 $ for refunding the item.
I think normally I should lose 12 $ for shipping cost, lose my item but that's it. I don't understand why I need to pay.

·2 years agoIt is always best to follow the eBay process for returns/refunds= Never a good idea to simply fully refund the customer without due process through eBay...eBay has set up returns/refunds processes that are for the benefit of and protections for both buyer & seller...
