ICS Courier
Summary: canadian_horse is facing an issue with eBay's order fulfillment system not recognizing ICS Courier, a Canpar company, for tracking purposes. They couldn't use Canpar due to different tracking styles, and despite the pickup, eBay tracking hasn't updated. msau4301 suggests not using a different courier's name, while recped mentions that many private carriers might not be integrated into eBay's systems. byto253 points out that while Sendle, which uses ICS, integrates with eBay, ICS Courier itself might not be acknowledged. techbuytreasures reports a similar issue with tracking via eBay, despite using netparcel integration, and stresses the importance of low rates. Others also echo the integration issue, and thomasjaybaker notes eBay has not rectified the lack of ICS integration. There is discussion on whether eBay's lack of integration is due to eBay's processes or a possible lack of interest from ICS Courier.
Does anyone know which courier I type into the 'Add Tracking' section of Ebay order fulfillment when using ICS Courier, which is a Canpar company?
I can't use Canpar itself because the tracking number style is different between ICS and Canpar. But the tracking link doesn't seem to work when I inputed ICS Courier as my carrier because the package was already picked up by ICS this morning, but Ebay tracking doesn't show the pickup yet.
I am wondering if I have to input a different courier name or if Ebay recognizes ICS Courier properly and maybe I just have to wait for the pick up to show on Ebay tracking later in the day.
Thanks

·1 year agoThis isn't a matter of eBay not having"corrected this problem"...This is a matter of eBay not having implemented a shipping option for ICS within the shipping options....ICS has not been integrated and/or added to the list of couriers and therefore that process has not taken place.....(and it probably isn't as simple and easy as just inserting a courier's name...)

·2 years agoI also have this issue when I purchase labels for ICS Courier via Netparcel. I rarely do this anymore because Sendle uses ICS and their rates are cheaper 99% of the time if you use EasyShip. This way the tracking is integrated. It's annoying that ICS has no integration but with netparcel it inputs the buyers email and sends them an email with tracking (I think)

·2 years agoIf the courier has a public tracking page, what you could do in the future is send the buyer a "Your item has shipped, thank you for shipping with me, etc" stock message that includes a link to the public tracking page. This would ensure that the buyer has an easy way to view the tracking if they cannot see it on eBay.
The two issues I could see if eBay doesn't have integrated tracking are first that you may have to contact eBay customer service if an INR is wrongly opened by the buyer as it might not show as delivered on eBay's tracking page.
The other issue is that the buyer might be able to open a case when their protection window should have been closed. If I recall, tracked orders get 30 days after the delivery date. So if the tracking never updates on eBay, the buyer might be able to open a NAD or INR case 30 days after the "expected delivery date" rather than the actual delivery date. If that happens, you would have to contact eBay and have them close the case.

·2 years agoI have the same problem. I shipped with ICS and ebay does not list them as a carrier. How can we contact Ebay to fix this?

@devon@ebay Can you pass this down the assembly to have ICS added to the dropdown please and thanks? It appears if you type in Sendle is does appear but not ICS as per @byto253

·2 years agoWhat problem are you trying to solve?
If you have a high rate of INR losses, and are losing claims because eBay doesn't accept the tracking you are purchasing, the low rates may not be worth the losses to scammers.
If your TRS requires tracking numbers, does eBay "see" the number you input or does it reject it out of hand? I'm thinking of the Small Packet USA hack which accepted the package number even though it is not a tracking number.
If you have had a Claim, did the ICS number win it for you when you manually added it to the Claim?
Can your parcel be tracked on "parcelsapp" (not sure of the name)?
Does it just annoy you that your shipping information doesn't look complete?
I used to send the tracking number to the buyer as part of their feedback. I buy more labels through eBay now with the discounts on Tracked Parcel USA and the change in attitude to shipping goods by LetterMail.

·2 years agoICS is a big courier that has been around since 1978, so a request to have the ability for their tracking number included along with other couriers is reasonable.
I am not sure how it works, if eBay can just do this or the company has to agree. ICS is more of a business to business courier vs retail like UPS but anyone can use them. That may be why they have not been in the list. Other businesses like Sendle use them, and have their own tracking number uploaded to eBay.

·3 years agoNot a solution for this situation, but Sendle uses ICS and eBay is integrated with their tracking system. It inputs the Sendle number, not the ICS number which is also on the label.
If ICS works for you with regard to pick up, etc. you may wish to check if Sendle's rates are as good as you are getting for ICS.

·3 years agoI suspect that almost none of these private carriers are integrated with eBays systems. None of the ones I use are. Back in the day almost everything shipped via Canada Post, Purolator, UPS, FedEx and maybe Canpar. These days there must be at least 100 different fly by night delivery companies.
In general I never post tracking numbers to eBay for Domestic shipments no matter who the carrier is.

·3 years agoI haven't used ICS courier myself but I wouldn't think you could "input a different courier name" as that wouldn't connect the tracking number at all. I would try to input ICS Courier (it seems to me even inputting Canada Post it changes to CPost but that is done automatically), see if it allows you to put it in that way. Worse case as long as you have tracking you could provide the info if needed and track it on your own with their website. I'd advise against putting another courier name just to try and use one of the defaults in their main list.
