If using Stallion, what's the new US Regional option?
Summary: Participants were discussing a new US Regional option in a service called Stallion. They did not specify details in the posts, maintaining the conversation mainly with placeholder responses. The repeated interaction between participants like sapphyres-designer-jewellery, marnotom!, and others indicates an ongoing discussion, but no conclusive information or summary of the new regional option was provided. Further context or detailed responses would be necessary for a comprehensive understanding of the topic.
Anyone ship with this new US Regional option with Stallion?
I printed one label for that when shipping today, just to see what would happen, it appears to be a service similar to Intelcom (however which service might vary by where it's going, kind of like I get different labels for different states of Australia.
It's saying 2-4 days for delivery, we'll have to see if it's really fast. It appears to be about 1.00 cheaper than the US Economy option (which is small couriers to hubs, then last mile is USPS). I use US Economy for most shipments unless Ground Advantage is cheaper.

·5 months agoThank you for posting this and explaining it! Google AI answer led me to your post. Really neat option I am glad they are offering. Excited to use it on my next lower value item.

OP5 months agoSuccess! The US Regional Item (shipped with GOFO) was delivered today. I'm going to assume everything has gone fine with this, I don't imagine they're delivering things much different than USPS does. Where I live I get lots of shipments by Intelcom.
Anyway it happened quite fast, it was dropped off at Stallion on Monday and delivered today. Certainly the buyer can't complain about the speed of delivery. I wouldn't use the cheapest services for my most expensive items, I think you get the service you pay for to some degree, so I will do a slightly better service (like GA) for an extra $1-2 on a more expensive item.

·5 months agoIn the shipping world the "degree" is invisible.
For example, in Canada Intelcom is almost always your cheapest option, usually about half the price of Canada Post but the only time CP would be a better service is for remote locations that Intelcom doesn't ship to.
For International you can use PostNL over the much more expensive Canada Post, which one provides the better service?
sapphyres-designer-jewellery
OP5 months agoThe reason I prefer CP to Intelcom is people sometimes have community mailboxes that are safe places to put packages, and Intelcom will leave it at the door where it's open to porch pirates. That's the only reason I can think of where I would prefer to pay for CP (for expensive things), but I use CP Expedited Lite on eBay which isn't much more expensive than CP.
For NL Post, it's tough to say... the options they have for EU, Australia and UK (that's where I ship so far with NL Post) seems to be way better than anything I get with Canada Post, but I use Canada Post when I need return service (like the package is valuable and we don't want the item to be destroyed or non-returnable).
For other countries, I think NL Post provides a better service because you can get tracking cheaper than untracked CP services, but I don't have enough experience shipping elsewhere to form much of an opinion. I do use NL Post though on almost all International (and Non-US) deliveries, mainly for the tracking though. But I think tracked packet provides pretty good service too, it just costs a lot more.
I'm going to use this US Regional when available on cheaper items. On stuff over $100 I prefer GA, even though it costs more.

·5 months agoDo you get any carrier info when you enter the tracking number into Parcelsapp or a similar third-party tracking site?
sapphyres-designer-jewellery
OP5 months agoWhen I click on the tracking in Stallion, it takes me to GoFo Express website. When I do the Stallion tracking on Parcelsapp it will show me the GoFo tracking and indicate it's tied to GoFo tracking. The GoFo tracking by itself doesn't bring up anything, but I've only just printed a label on Stallion.
It's not an expensive item, I just wondered if anyone knew anything about the service. It's 1.00-1.50 cheaper than Economy (when the Economy is the cheapest service), I presume which carrier is used will depend on where in the US it's going. The US Regional option didn't come up for all my shipments.
One thing I do though is if it's an expensive item, I'll ship Ground Advantage even if it costs more, we have less problems with GA shipments, but sometimes they get stuck at a hub, so the US Economy bypasses that because it has it's own hubs around the country, so I can bypass some of the centres that are busy using US Economy. But you can't do much about tracking it on USPS website until it gets into the hands of USPS, which is why I don't like expensive items going that way.

·5 months agoHow is the customs info processing for the option? I am not selling right now so cannot help with shipping experience but do appreciate the information on the board to keep in touch.

·5 months agoAnything shipped to the US via Stallion or Chitchats etc. are cleared through US customs in Niagara Falls, it doesn't matter which specific service you are using.
You can read up on GoFo here:

That's not true if you select PostNL on Stallion. Stallion hands it off to PostNL and they deal with it, which I understand to be direct to USA (even though if you dig into PostNL tracking, it will show hits in Netherlands).
Had a package get sent to LAX for customs processing. Technically counts as post so the tariffs apply a bit differently (No CUSMA but it skips the "China" tariff and aluminum/steel tariffs).
sapphyres-designer-jewellery
OP5 months agoI think the tariffs are included in the total bill (so the sender would pay, it's just not broken down, although I haven't done an NL Post to the US because there's no return service and it takes so much longer).
I got a bit unlucky today, made a $500 sale, buyer is in Japan, but gave a US FFwder address, so he gets discounted postage (US postage special on the dot com site in my store), but I had to pay the tariffs to send. It's probably a better deal for him because of the discounted postage, it would have been $35 to ship the package to Japan, but he only paid 8.95 having it shipped to the US.
This doesn't happen often, and the 10% tariff is an improvement over what we had before (no more 50% tariffs on things I can't sell to the US), but I so totally would rather send my $500 package to Japan than to a FFwder in the US.

·5 months agoI have mixed feelings about sending to package forwarders post-tariffs. I like that there will be no returns, but I dislike that we have to pre-pay the tariffs. I had a Swedish buyer do this and I was messaging him asking him to let me send it to him directly and offering to send $15 back to him for the difference, rather than pay all the money in shipping plus more to pre-pay tariffs. He didn't understand so instead of him keeping money in his pocket, I paid the tariff to ultimately fund more US wars in the Middle East. Lovely

Is there anybody actually using the PostNL service to the US (from Canada)?
sapphyres-designer-jewellery
OP5 months agoThe only thing NL Post is good for is if you don't know the manufacturer. I find it costs a bit more (although not by much), and there's no return service. It also takes a lot longer.
Doesn't seem practical, I've been able to come up with a manufacturer for everything I've shipped to the US so far... the stuff I don't know about are listed on the ca site with no US shipping.

OP5 months agoIt's the same as all Stallion orders for all their USPS services, I fill in Customs stuff, they charge tariffs when I pay for postage. Kinda like that. US GA, US Economy and US Regional all process the customs stuff the same way.
