Hi everyone, I sell on eBay.ca and am looking to expand my sales outside of Canada and the USA. What countries would you recommend and which would you avoid?
I have had no/minimal problems shipping to UK, Australia, and most of europe. I do not recommend shipping to Mexico or Asia. I have had problems with delivery to those locations in the past.
All of Western Europe, Japan, Australia, China can be a problem. Israel customs can hold up things for a month. Middle East, unknown, no experience. Anything south of the U.S. border is a risk and it is reflected in the costs of shipping.
Shipping Internal is a challenge indeed and I have not done so in many a year...but having said that I would not recommend shipping anything outside of North America without tracking and that is expensive but doable if selling high demand products/items...According to my fellow Etsy sellers, these are countries worthy of our attention and pose little to no difficulties: Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland,Japan...South Korea...Now eBay sellers, on the other hand, may have totally different experiences and perhaps can recommend other "safe to ship to" countries...Countries that I would avoid are those engaged in conflict/wars,etc as well as Italy>personal experience, so personal opinion....

I'd focus on lighter weight items (under 2kg) for international and avoid bulky items.
Use ebay's calculated shipping for Canada Post Tracked Packet International (up to 2kg).
Canada Post has a good tool for looking at countries around the world.
With details about what products are not allowed by the selected country (lots of stuff that you wouldn't expect is banned/prohibited).
