Is it just me, or are others seeing high External page views lately?
Summary: chicweb initiated a discussion about noticing high external page views and questioned whether others have the same experience. jtg204, lotzofuniquegoodies, and recped also participated, sharing their observations and confirming similar trends. hansatrade engaged with recped, suggesting a broader issue may be affecting multiple users.
Over the past few days I’ve been seeing unusually high “External page views” in my Seller Hub... around 1500–2000 per day, spread across multiple listings.
My internal impressions and rankings appear stable, but the temporary spike significantly distorts CTR and conversion metrics.
Is anyone else with a larger inventory noticing similar behavior recently?
It started on the evening of February 13. In previous instances, a large portion of these External views appeared to be adjusted or reduced about 48 hours later... usually around 7PM Eastern time.
I’m not sure if this is normal reclassification or something else, just trying to understand if others are seeing the same pattern.

·5 months agoI'm seeing a pile of externals for yesterday and today....just another glitch!
For today all I have is externals, zero organic which is extremely unlikely so I'll go with the glitch concept.

·5 months agoMaybe a glitch, but Feb 16 - which shows an extreme external traffic - resulted in 6 sales ($300 total).

·5 months agoThe same here 😄
The traffic is recently really bad - so maybe they have decided to buy more traffic from Google?

By chance are you promoting? It "may" have something to do with the new way promoted listings are getting phantom view hits just by someone seeing a bunch of promoted similar listings when they search.
At any given time it is very difficult to know exactly what causes any blips with traffic, views and sales. In all likelihood it could have something to do with phase of the moon but that is only conjecture on my part.
For me seeing 50% (2800 to 4500) more views since I was able to finally opt in to eIS. There has been a slight increase in sales but majority are very low value.

·5 months agoNot seeing that here. But not seeing much of any action here, too.

·5 months agoHad this happen last month on one listing, it was just promoted views and not external promoted. Others noticed this too. Eventually stats were changed and view totals on the item reduced to normal.
Quick edit to add: I think mine was spread over 2 days, I can't find any screen grabs or remember what listing to check if the stats on the listing itself fixed or just the view count. There's no blip in all items stats though, which there was before.
