It was not possible to generate the label. Something is wrong. Please try SHIPPO Instead...
Summary: intimewithmusic shared their frustration with eBay's shipping label issues, expressing a preference for Shippo after experiencing repeated failures with eBay's system. ypdc_dennis and regs43 both chimed in with their own struggles, noting problems with entering package weights and combining orders, which led to errors in label generation. regs43 mentioned frequent crashes and incorrect customs data, requiring them to shift to Canada Post for label printing, incurring additional costs. lotzofuniquegoodies and devon@ebay engaged, emphasizing the ongoing nature of these issues and seeking support from eBay to resolve them. The discussion highlighted the complexities and frustrations sellers face with eBay labels, particularly for international shipments and combined orders, prompting some to seek alternatives like Shippo despite extra costs.

·2 years agoThis issues happening with like 5+ items on an invoice to the USA and if I need to make a change to something it seems
I had an order for 3 items (same listing multi quantity) and same buyer bought 3 more on another multi quantity listing on a different invoice. I couldn't create a label for EITHER order and tired to combine them in the bulk that work either. I had to use Canada Post. That was Sunday
didn't
Today I had 34 item order, that I deleted 33 lines and put all the customs info in 1 field, failed 6 times. Bulk cant even open the customs form because 34 items crashes the bulk customs to try and delete 33 lines.
All single item invoices yesterday and today worked just fine to the USA other then the one where my customer bought 3 items and 3 items
Cost like $4.00 more for the order today and $3.50 on Sunday to print using Canada Post because ebay labels has issues. not at all reliable when your charging for a service you expect to be able to use!

OP2 years agoI feel for you. I made it through my combined shipping "LOG JAM" this month by paying the extra to use Shippo. It was worth it. I just got a truckload of positive feedback for doing it.
With the heavy fees from promoted listings the best counter measure is to keep your regular buyers in your store by using combined listing deals. That part is rocket science because we don't have coupons, quantity discounts or any shipping promotions all US sellers have. So we find a way to workaround that and end up giving the extra money we made to a 3rd party label generator because eBay's system is broken.
In case anyone is wondering how. Here's how. 1. Know who your repeat buyers are. 2. Before you list a big lot of "same sames" spread them all over your photo table and snap a picture. 3. Send the picture to your regulars through the eBay msg system. 4. Take orders and then create a custom combined listing that looks like a ridiculous "flea market" . Be careful as all of the INAD conditions apply in the custom listing. I only do this for customers who I know and who know me. 5. Figure out how to generate a proper label.
Unfortunately this backwards way of selling is the most productive workaround I can come up with to compensate for promotional and shipping limitaions on dot ca. Plus it limits you to a small number of potential buyers. Frankly it's embarrassing but it works. Read my feedback and see for yourself.

·2 years agoSTILL an issue. Can't print a label to the USA with 34 items on an invoice!
Agent told me to try chrome ahha, that does nothing. Tried Bulk and regular way. Agent even sent me to bulk after I told them I tried that.
Wonder if this will EVER be fixed? I assume not

According to dot com the issue was resolved.
Sellers are unable to print a shipping label, all options are greyed out (June 14, 2023 - August 31, 2023)
Reference ID: ALERT14741

Provide Order ID:
@devon@ebay Can you look into this please. Maybe the issue being resolved on the USA side did not correct the same issue on ca or the issue has a returned?
As a side when issues are reported and looked into on dot com does the support department confirm it has been resolved for ca or does than require being added to the ticket?

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies! I will dig into this to see if this has been resolved for other sites as well.

·2 years agoJust had an order with 5 lots sell to the USA. It failed 5 times (2 in bulk and 3 the normal way) when I tried to enter it with 5 customs lines (1 for each listing as ebay pulls up, and the max allowed?). I had to clump everything into 1 customs declaration as 176 hockey cards and then the total value and that printed first try.
At this point why doesnt ebay just not enter any data, because I have to delete it anyhow and do soemthing completely different with 1 line for customs to get it to even generate a label.

eBay does not like combining on shipping. Why they have done everything in their power to make it as difficult as possible.

OP2 years agoHi @regs43
I just rec'd a combo order for 6 items USA bound. After the pick 'n pack I'll enter the data to Notebook and then try eBay labels once. If it fails it's Shippo.

Can you get this sent to support? Combining orders has become an issue for a number of sellers when they try to create eBay Labels for intl shipping. Easy with CP/Shippo except without the discount.

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies! I will be sure to get this sent over and reach back out if I am needing more inforamtion or examples.

OP2 years agoUPDATE: Just entered my sales data for 6 item combo sale today. Got the warning the form only facilitates 5 items. Funny, the form eBay provided had 6 entry lines... Just in case I changed 2 of my items to the same price so I used only 5 of them. Entered all weights in kg and no grams.
I had no problems. The label generated.
Thank you eBay!

·2 years agoEbay labels is a disaster with combined orders. It crashs if you have 40items on an invoice and cant generate a label half the time for smaller combined orders. I have had major issues this past week with it. It never tells you what the problem is when it cant generate, it just says "something is wrong" well what is the something!?!?
The ebay people on the phone and chat have no clue how it works either so that's a waste of time, been there did that. They can't even see what is failing on their end.
Last night the system as a whole was "Canada post is experiencing issues" except their site was functioning just fine lol, so maybe ebay passing off the blame.
Receipts for these labels would be still nice? but I guess that's never happening?
I also had to pay $6 more to generate my label for my 64 combined item order late last week, so that was annoying!

Sooo why I didn't want to have to switch from Shippo to eBay Labels. That is exactly how a shipping document is supposed to look/function/display. Major deal breaker (for me) happened when they couldn't offer level 4 discounts and payment method had to be cc.
-Lotz
intimewithmusic
OP2 years agoDitto. I don't mind the credit card part but eBay's Level 4 seduced me. I get L 1 on Snap Ship.
You may want to take another look though, Shippo seems to have sharpened their pencil. Depending on the order the new insurance features are also cool.
ypdc_dennis
·2 years agoHave you tried entering the weight of the package in grams?
Looks like their computer does not know that 3.0 kg is 3000 grams.
intimewithmusic
OP2 years agoHi. Thanks @ypdc_dennis ! Your input is welcome.
Don't get me started. I've dealt with international shipping orders since 1981 and eBay since 2013.
Even tried turning my underwear inside out.
3 hours in and didly squat for a label. alway issues with quantity eBay labels.
Shippo spit it out in 2 minutes. An extra $6 bucks and rinky dink 5 item maximums.
Nothing goes wrong with a Ahippo or a Snap Ship label.
almost missed my Covid Vax.
Thanks. Gotta run..

·2 years agoI know I have to manually adjust the totals when I've combined items. They assume the packaging weight I have added (which can sometimes be 100 grams if one of my regular boxes is used) is added for every item even if I'm only using 1 box. Also make sure you hit the tab button, otherwise it sometimes doesn't update (as was brought to my attention many a time!)
I do however have to agree with you an extra $6 bucks is sometimes (always!?) worth it if you can by-pass mega aggravation!!
intimewithmusic
OP2 years agoHi msau! Thank you for your response. After being forced to abandon eBay which hurt out of loyalty the above is the properly generated manifest which, unfortunately is not available if you use "eBay Labels".
This time manual entery was so bad the system wouldn't even accept a decimal point when pricing the items or the weights. Windows Wednesday was yesterday and a major Microsoft update. I wonder if it has something to do with when e- Labels choke? Most of my other software succesfully scrambles to update on WW.
I don't seem to have issues with single item labels. It's the combined shipments that misbehave. This time it was 6 single items plus a lot of 3. When it happens after all the rigamoral it's a real drag.
You've manually adjusted for more than 5 items, manually adjusted the item prices so your discounts match customs, and you've changed the "Please Steal Me" eBay titles to genenerics. The shipping discount is the only thing carried over to the label from the customer invoice. On my last order before this one the discount on the items was greater than the discount on the shipping. It wouldn't let me manually enter that either.
Then you do the "Can I Insure or Can I Not Insure Cha Cha".
The whole time you're supposed to be listing and then you get the eBay Label Error of Death;
It was not possible to generate the label. Something is wrong. Please try again later.
I yi yi yi yi... That's Italian for AI.
@lotzofuniquegoodies has petitioned devon@ebay the entire year to get this fixed.
But now it's 4th quarter. Other than the price, Canadian eBay combined shipping labels are still rubbish.
Some things to consider for newcomers who don't use Shippo yet... (I have no connection)
Cons
Shippo X Cover Insurance is as follows.
Theft, Loss or Damage
US$136.49 You have the option to pay for "Porch Piracy". This order was for a regular customer so I didn't worry about piracy. The insurance cost was $2.81 for a value of $187.
Pros
eBay Labels deserve Credit Where Credit Is Due
I hope my rant can be informative to newcomers. I appologize for boring the "Boardies". Thank you @reallynicestamps for allowing me eons ago to coin you "boardies" . That said it's still a rant.
I had a lot of listing to do today for some historic music memorabilia. Instead I spent the time with a "WORKAROUND" for eBay Canada's label rubbish format so I could serve a very good customer in New York.
Labels are the conduit that transport your hard work to your customer. Low quality will cause additional costs, delays in customs, missing shipments, insurance denials and questionable tax receipts.
I'm ending with this. If you don't have something nice to say about a seemingly never ending problem , say...
good grief.

OP2 years agoYou sure have a lot of tricks up your sleeve! Maybe we could try entering weight in "Babylonian minas"...
