Letter mail tracking etc to eIS is defaulting to incorrect service
Summary: lotzofuniquegoodies raised a concern about the shipment processing system incorrectly defaulting to USPS for CP letter tracking, which should only update once processed at the hub. marnotom! suggested emailing the eIS development team, and flipistics confirmed that similar issues have been reported. devon@ebay asked for an order number to investigate further, and both flipistics and lotzofuniquegoodies provided examples. lotzofuniquegoodies also mentioned challenges faced by Canadian sellers with tracking updates and the costs for low-value items.
@devon@ebay
In processing a shipment this morning to hub via CP letter tracking automagically is defaulting to USPS. This info is inaccurate. It should not be updating to another service until item has been processed at hub to whatever service eBay will use and then should be modified every time it gets handed off to someone else.
You told us that you shipped with Canada Post and we were able to get tracking events back from USPS.
????? This is and has been causing confusion for international buyers.

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies ! Do you have an order number that I can use for reference with the Shipping team to be able to look into this?

·3 weeks ago@devon@ebay Here's one of mine that it did it on (not lettermail). Order number 15-14779-72313. Here's a screenshot as well:

The system will (for anything shipped from W. Canada) also mark these packages as tracking not entered on time even when they are processed the same day as received and end up arriving late at the hub for forwarding. As Canadian sellers we use Letter for anything that is low value. Buyers will not pay for tracked shipping and there is no way to override shipping method once buyer has paid without taking a major loss.
