'metal' in title wouldn't list, without that word, lists fine
Summary: busybeas_books initiated a discussion about an issue with eBay International Shipping where listings with the word "metal" in the title will not list, but they list fine if the term is removed. marnotom! and lotzofuniquegoodies joined the discussion, with lotzofuniquegoodies suggesting that the problem might be related to shipping rules for metal items to the US via eBay International Shipping, which could be causing issues with their listing bot. They humorously speculated about potential issues with listing items related to heavy metal music or books with "metal" in the title. Participants expressed a desire for clearer communication and error messages from eBay to address these issues more effectively.
I was trying to list (on .ca) an old flashlight with the title
"BURGESS FLASHLIGHT, metal, fish-eye lens, WORKS" I got an error page saying the listing tool isn't working just now.
I was listing other items too, yes the listing tool was working for them. I tried it a couple time, it wouldn't go, just would be saved in the drafts folder. Later I remembered some posts here about people selling items with metal parts, in regards to tariffs, so I took the word 'metal' out of the title. It listed just fine.
Interestingly, I just checked my active listings, there are 8 listings with the worrd 'metal', and 4 with 'aluminum' in the title. These are auto renew in the store and have been listed forever so it just must be new listings the bots are flagging.

·3 months agoI have had a lot of my items not show up as shipping to the US. Other countries are fine. Many of my items that are made of metal (ornaments), wood (jewelry & trinket boxes), plastic (Tupperware), sterling silver (antiques) are all not showing up for US buyers. I have tried playing around with changing the wording. Sometimes it works & sometimes it doesn't. This is very frustrating as I have sold all these items to the US in the past with no problems.

·3 months agoSeeing as you're offering eBay International Shipping as an option for shipping to the US and other non-Canadian destinations, I suspect the issue may be that shipping metal items is extremely problematic to the US through eIS right now and the use of those terms may be tripping up the bot that's checking to see if eIS can be applied to your listings for US shipping.

Tongue in cheek....Wonder if one would grief for trying to list something of the "Heavy Metal" music gendre??? Might even have problems listing a book with "metal" in the title!! Would be nice if we got some clarification from eBay and/or an ACTUAL error message during the listing process vs trial and error testing we have been doing for the past almost 1 year.
