It seems around Nov 12, the US FDA started to crack down on small shipments of items that come into contact with food.I have recently sold vintage wine glasses. To ship them I need to submit electronically a petition to Stallion Express (and apparently to any carrier) with the information filled in a XLS document (several columns to fill in). Then wait for approval, this information is collected by Stallion and possibly submited to US Customs and Border Protection agency or FDA.The point is, if you are seller of expensive china-ware, filling it make sense, but shipping a few things with smaller value, makes no sense to fill that in.Not providing correct information could lear to rejection of the item at the border.Examples mentioned:Tableware (plates, bowls, cups, utensils, thermoses, straws)• Food storage containers (plastic, glass, metal)• Beverage bottles, tumblers, and lids• Kitchenware and cookware that directly contacts food• Packaging materials or liners that directly touch food (bags, wraps, films)The law is nothing new, it has been around for decades, but it only applied to shipments over 800 USD.What doesn't seem to becovered is e.g. electrical appliances that come into contact with food (coffee machines, pizza maker, wafer makers, blenders). Othewise the listing above seems covers every little tool in the kitchen.Bottom line:I am expecting there will be many more regulations like these, that were dormant, only applied to larger shipments, merchants, distributors, manufacturers etc, where small shipments under deminimis 800 USD have had exception. Now all of these are coming down big time. If the tariffs didn't crush small part-time sellers selling some of the more restricted products. This stuff here will finish the job. Unfortunately the US has decided it will stop flood of the China stuff and they are getting more and more serious about it.
