PSA: Made in USA goods are no longer exempt from duties
Just checked the rates in Zonos app. This is a sad day.
Edit: On top of duties, there is a flat rate of Zono fees.

·3 days agoVia postal options (Canada Post) you cannot use CUSMA, but you can create a CUSMA cert on Chit Chats to get the tariff-free on Made in USA items.
Go to Settings and then scroll to the very bottom to create a CUSMA. Chit Chats approves them quickly. You don't have to know the mfr address, just use your own. Once approved, you can use that CUSMA cert for the same HTS code to get tariff-free.
As for WHY they are now charging some form of tariffs on some Made in US items, it seems to be from the base tariffs that are often on items as well as the new Section 301 Forced Labor Tariff, particularly based on materials.
They also quote that items Made in the USA that have been located outside of the USA for more than 3 years, are now not considered US goods. Dumb, but that's what it says when I questioned google AI for a vintage Federal Glass mug stamped Made in USA.

·3 days agoJust found this out today on a glass bowl. Changed to a different code and got a lower rate. This was all free before (USA Made), now they want 6% to 30% on a glass bowl depending on the HS code I used.
Why are there tariffs now on made in USA items? Not just CP, but Chit Chats also. I must have missed this memo.

·3 days agoIf you use Chit Chats, then create a CUSMA cert for your US made bowl. It is located under Settings then scroll to the very bottom for CUSMA. I did one for my brass ladies compacts made in the USA. You don't need to know the mfr address, just use your own. Chit Chats approves very quickly, and then whenever you use that HTS code and the same description you get the CUSMA applied when creating a label.

·4 days agoThis does seem to be the case with Zonos. I’ve tried my usual vintage made in USA clothing with correct hs codes and it charges a ‘general rate’ of 6% plus a ‘clearance fee’ of a few more dollars. So it looks like most clothing made in USA is being charged. Most media is still tariff free. Books, movies, records etc do not have that tariff applied. I will be testing the waters with UPS on my next made in USA clothing sale to USA.
