Shipping Via UPS or FedEx to Europe
Summary: sylviebee is seeking advice on shipping items to Europe using FedEx or UPS, due to negative past experiences with couriers and concerns about manageable costs for buyers. lotzofuniquegoodies suggests using eBay’s shipping calculator and queries about Canadian seller access to the eBay International Shipping (eIS) program. sylviebee shares difficulties in enrolling in the eIS program and others suggest alternative shipping options like Chit Chats and Stallion Express. devon@ebay confirms sellers can request a manual review for the eIS program, offering further assistance to sylviebee. The conversation highlights issues with high courier fees and challenges in shipping to Europe.
Has anyone used Fedex or UPS to ship to Europe. I've been trying to find a method to ship to the banned European countries but I've been avoiding couriers because my past experiences with couriers, both coming and going, have been overwhelmingly negative.
My buyer is aware that there will be a payment required upon arrival but I want to be sure that courier payment is manageable. In the past they have not been.
I'm wondering what others have experienced with courier shipping to Europe.

·1 week agoSending via UPS or FedEx to Europe (or the USA for that matter) means the buyer has to pay a really high brokerage fee as well as any duty/tariffs, so it is not recommended.

·1 week agoChit Chats now has many options so that you do not have to be near a location to use them. You can use their SmartDrop option which uses either Canada Post or Purolator with preferential rates.
Chit Chats currently sends to the EU. You just prepay the 3 Euros new customs fee when paying for the label. And Chit Chats service to the EU is much cheaper than using Canada post anyhow.

·1 week ago · EditedI had a CD sale to Germany I cancelled and refunded this morning.
I don't have Stallion of Chit Chats in my area, but I wish I did.
UPS quoted me roughly $100 for shipping. This is the lowest they have on offer.
I'm hoping Canada Post gets itself sorted out.

·1 week agoYou can send it in to Chit Chats. It's not ideal, but with Click Ship's new small parcel rate the label to get it there is probably somewhere between $5 and $6 for people in Victoria going to Vancouver.

·1 week agoHave you looked into shipping through Chit Chats or Stallion Express? Do they support the type of merchandise you sell?

Have you tested using the eBay calculator tool for available options?

The services that are discounted for intl shipping options are limited and I am unsure if they have been updated to conform with new regulations. Maybe @devon@ebay can confirm if they have been. Under the current regulations there needs to be a way to choose eIS for USA and Fedex/CP/UPS for intl in settings. To date there isn't a way to do this for Canadian sellers. In many situations CP tracked to intl destinations is substantially cheaper but the first default intl buyers see is the eIS option making this task challenging.

OP1 week agoI'm OK with shipping to the States. That's been working out OK so far, but with the changes associated with changing from tariffs to duty it's starting to hurt. Most of my items are US made and that was fine with tariffs, but now that duty has kicked in it's more difficult to prepay duty. There is duty on everything and what seems like a hefty processing fee.
As far as shipping to the banned European countries, so far I can't get an invite to eIS and I've been trying. They don't want me :-(
I'm considering using couriers because the initial charge is workable and my buyers are OK with paying upon arrival. However, I also know that courier charges to buyers can be outrageous and out of touch with reality, so I'm asking here to see if anyone has experience with shipping to Europe via courier.

@devon@ebay Is there a manual process for Canadian sellers who would like to get into the eIS program? Originally it was an invite. If you chose to opt out it was a big song and dance to get back in. In my case it took over 6 months. And do we have ANY sort of realtime ETA when Canadian sellers will have access to the globe vs a few countries in Europe and Australia?

OP1 week agoIt doesn't work for me. I've tried. I've been on the phone with them several times and I can't sign on. I was given an email address to see if they'll let me in but so far I've had no response.

·1 week ago · EditedIt was auto in at beginning. Then it went to some kind of invite. Since then haven't heard a peep about the program and crickets regarding updates to it. If you opted out the switch stayed on for 24 or 48 hours then poofed. Then it became a challenge to get in. We weren't sure if you needed to do either the hokey pokey or tetley tea dance to get in?
The current help desk NEEDS a system for follow up but possibly low on the priority list. Like the old joke. How do you keep someone in suspense?.......................................................................................................I'll tell you tomorrow!!! Barum ching!!!

OP1 week agoI didn't receive an initial invite.
This is the email address I was given. Maybe someone else will find it helpful. I have not.
So far I haven't heard anything back from them. ebayinternationalshipping@ebay.com

Unsure if it will work but you could try updating from com to ca and see if makes it through. That email address "might" have a smaller batch of mail arriving to wade through. Worth a shot.

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies ! Let me ask if there is and I will come back and let you know.
devon@ebay
@lotzofuniquegoodies I did just confirm that sellers can reach out for a manual review to get into the eIS program by emailing eis@ebay.ca with their eBay username.

·3 days ago@devon@ebay Is there a window one can expect for a reply? I've messaged in the past. You used to get the auto message. Last few times nothing and and no follow up from them directly with answers.
devon@ebay
@lotzofuniquegoodies I was not provided an exact window but was told they the inbox is checked on a weekly basis.

OP3 days agoI've also sent a request to sign up for International Shipping Program via eis@ebay.ca and have received no reply. Not even an acknowledgement that my message was received. When I called I was told that the program is handled by .com and to message them in the States. No reply from them either.
devon@ebay
@sylviebee Can you confirm what you eBay username is and I will be sure to let the eIS team know you are wanting to have a manual review?

Yes, THANK YOU. I've made numerous phone calls to eBay and have tried everything I can to get onto the program. I list on .com but I want to list some items on .ca so that I use the eIS for some shipments.
