Stallion assessed me tariffs a week ago on some stamps I sent to the UK. I opened a ticket because they need to refund me that money if there's no tariffs on stamps (which means that since it's properly declared when it gets to the border, they should not be taking the payment for my package).
I went to their dashboard duty calculator to see, and there's still tariffs.

·9 months agoBest not to rely on unconfirmed information as collector postage stamps can be subject to tariffs and import duties when entering the USA, depending on their country of origin and the shipment's value...

·9 months agoI'm not sure if it matters but I noticed your original screenshot is for HS code 9704, but the ANSWER you got from stallion is for pencil crayons or something, HS code 9609

OP9 months agoI didn't notice this, I'm visually impaired and have trouble seeing very small print in screen shots.
What I did notice when searching for code 9704 is an AI response telling me it's aluminum products (and as such, no IEEPA). It was very weird, I asked Google "is there IEEPA on HTS code 9704" and it spit back something about aluminum.

OP9 months agoIt's annoying me that Zonos is not charging tariffs while Stallion is... I read something on AI (subject to verification) that if stamps are shipped using a postal service that IEEPA doesn't apply, but if shipped through another means IEEPA does apply.
Any chance to verify that? That would answer my question about why Zonos doesn't have it but Stallion does.

·9 months agomy understanding, IEEPA isnt applied to some postal shipments depending on the category, based on random testing (right or wrong who knows lol), but your mailing with a courier like service (which CBS I assume are treated as) then IEEPA applies for sure.
Just use canada post for stamps going forward unless the tarrif + brockerage fee + whatever others fees stallion charge is cheaper. For me I am getting $8.74 with my Canada Post Level 3 rate, so I know my fixed cost.
Currently my category is tariff free with Canada Post so I'm going that way as its a flat postage rate so nice and easy, and it takes like 1 min to snap a pic and get the code and print the label and move on.

OP9 months agoI'm sure I get the lowest discount (would that be level 1?) I buy labels on eBay because it's cheaper than using snapship. I could try some of the sites other people use to get discounted labels, but I'm pretty happy with Stallion for the most part, even though shipping has become a whole lot more challenging.

Is this a typo? Why would US tariffs have anything to do with a shipment sent to the UK?

·9 months agoThe IEEPA does not even mention tariffs. That is the issue currently before the US Supreme Court. But apparently AI is so powerful that it already knows how the court is going to rule.
