That fuel charge is a killer...
I just shipped an Expedited Lite package for $9 that used to cost about $6.50. The rates have been going up very quickly.
I don't want to increase my shipping prices and scare buyers off, but the cost of shipping scares buyers off. Sellers in the US are having same complaints about domestic shipping (although I don't think they have a fuel surcharge yet).

Fuel surcharges were first implemented in Canada in early '70ies. Became more of thing (nuisance) in the beginning of the 90ies. Now they are out of control. And all made worse because we way tax on shipping in Canada. Not tax on shipping to USA unless you are using some kind of freight forwarding system like eIS or Chit Chats.

·3 weeks agoThe USA does indeed have a fuel surcharge (a pretty recent development) as well as peak demand surcharges starting soon for the Christmas season. I feel like it's going to get much worse before it gets better.

OP3 weeks agoThe peak surcharge is being discussed in the other forum. It's a scam anyway, they raise the prices in October for "peak season", lower them in early January, then 1-2 weeks later raise them back up again. Why not just have the increase in October if they want to increase it for Christmas? Why pretend it's a temporary thing when it's not?

OP3 weeks agoI had a book that I shipped to BC, and Stallion wanted $31 (which I checked after seeing eBay's $27 for Expedited Parcel). The book was 400 grams. I might have to stop shipping those within Canada, there's only 12.50 shipping on them (they are empty coin albums), and now it's costing more than that to ship it across the street.

·3 weeks agoIn the USA they have a 8% fuel surcharge for USPS, peanuts compared to 40% here for domestic/
