Trading cards FVF promo
Summary: rocketscollectibles received an invitation to a promotional offer on eBay that reduces final value fees (FVF) for trading cards from 12% to 9.5% but has not seen this applied to recent sales and seeks clarification on the promotion's terms. femmefan1946 and others suggested that the promotion only applies to new listings created during the promotional period and not to ones listed before. regs43 shared that the promotion is working for them and applies to all items in the trading card category, regardless of when they were listed. rocketscollectibles realizes the discount is applied but was confused by how the fees were presented on their account page. There was a misconception about selling within 30 days, which seems not applicable, adding to the confusion regarding the promo's terms.
So i received a message a few days ago telling i was 'invited' to a special promo for trading cards. The promo is interesting i'm supposed to drop from 12% to 9.5% FVF, until next september. But i've been selling a few since the promo started and my FVF are still the same. Will it be applied for listings newly listed / renewed? The same way FVF store discount is applied?
Here's the promo for those wondering:

How do I activate the Promotion?
Sellers will automatically receive the Promotion for listings on the Canadian site at www.ebay.ca created through the Sell Your Item form, eBay Seller Tools, eBay Mobile applications, and most third-party tools. ·3 years agoitem listed Jan 29 sold on March 14
I do end and sell similar most of my store every month, I miss the odd items but I refuse to pay promoted listings and this gives me a newly listed item frequently. People who are watching are often just watching and if they havent bought the item after sending a discount out then they likely not buying at this time
If the promo was only for newly listed items I would just end my whole store and repost it all to qualify for the discount but I dont think thats the case. as i have tons of items from february before the promo started that have sold and got the discount
I think there is some issue with your account and you likely need to talk to ebay for them to look into it on the backend. I recalll not getting charged the correct fees on time a few years aog and I called and they sorted it out

I attempted to use the offer after the information was passed on about its availability. Did you happen to notice if there was activate vs start selling choices with the mail you received? I saw the 2nd option only. When I review current offers it does not come up as being in progress on my hub page.
And yes, my account is in good standing. Only difference was I never received the offer. For the previous offer that was posted to the discussion board, there were sellers that could join in even if they had not received. (I have cards listed. Just not a large quantity.)

·3 years agoYeah, I haven't received the offer either on any of my stores. They probably want to encourage people to keep the cards listing here rather than trying another venue which is likely chipping into their profits considerably atm. I suspect the offer was highly targeted.

From my mind the most important concern is defining who qualifies/doesn't (or can or can't activate) and for anyone that does, understanding the fine print vs "well I interpret it as...and then being incorrect". There should be consistency with the verbiage for all future offers. Re: Post 3 and the term "normally". Over the last several years with every offer there has been "some" confusion.

·3 years agoI never activated anything it just did it automatically. I only noticed it like March 10 2 days later when checking my message inbox
It just says "available" and doenst give a counter of how many times is been used like the last promo that updated to 20/20 when I used them all

OP3 years agoUnless i'm missing something the promo is not applied there.
The promo is FVF 9.5%. The screen you share is at the standard 12%.
Edit:
Just checked and i actually sold something today that was started mar 8th. Inside the promo and within 30-days. Still 12% and no 9.5%.
Edit #2: Actually i do have the promo applied! I just noticed the amount in green under... So i have the promo applied since the beginning. No idea why they did not change the % number and just randomly add a number refunded under, i was only looking at that 12%... Very misleading.
So why it's written we must sold within 30-days if it's not true? This promo is confusing.
regs43
·3 years agoYes the 1st numer in green is for the promotion, and the second number in green is for my 10% top rated discount. It works out to 8.85% in fees when you deduct the 2 numbers basiclly.
Most business work with a deduction of money being in RED, like they do on the right side, but I think they are trying to distinguinsh in the middle with green how they got to that calculation. Maybe they should have a tutorial somewhere LOL
pjcdn2005
·3 years agoSo why it's written we must sold within 30-days if it's not true? This promo is confusing.
It seems that with the last few promos they state rules that don't actually apply. If @regs43 received the discount on the item that was listed in January, then the 30 day rule must not apply. If you are worried about it though you can always use 'sell similar' on your listing after it has been up for 30 days.
regs43
·3 years agoLike I said before in a previous post EVERY item for me in the trading card category since the promo was announced that has sold and the discounts has been applied.
Items NEWLY listed and OLD from January have had the discount applied. So I don't think its a scam. I think there is soemthing wrong with your account, or maybe Quebec is exempt? There is weird laws with Quebec so maybe thats it. I didnt see anything about quebec on the promotion but it does say it subject to Canadian Laws, so who knows just a thought
I think its worth a call or chat with ebay becasue the promtions working for me on NEW and OLD listings.
rocketscollectibles
OP3 years agoThis is strange, actually as pointed in the previous post: in rules they states it must sold within 30 days.
Seems like it's the reason i don't have the discount. Everything sold was listed before the promo started, and in more than 30-days.
Do you have a screenshot of your discount and the started date of the listing, maybe you're mistaken? Cause in rules if we understand them right, the discount should not be applied if the listing was listed more than 30-days.
rocketscollectibles
OP3 years agoYeah i'm in good standings. I'm 100% positive feedback, 1 neutral. Top rated. 0% defect rate. 0% cases without resolution. Under 1% late shipment (1 order, the neutral feedback).
Also on my seller hub > overview > promo offers. I can see the promo and it's writen at used/left: available.
Edit:

·3 years agoSince you're using your posting id we can't really see what you are doing, but all of these are EXCLUDED:
So BINs have to sell in the first 30 days and auctions in the first run, everything else doesn't get the discount......
rocketscollectibles
OP3 years agoWow i missed those lines. Well here it is... I knew this promo was too good to be true!
So basically they want us to underprice our items when we list, to sell faster than 30-days, to have 2.5% fees discount. Nice try eBay... Or take down listings and relisting as similar non-stop. My listings have sales history, watchers, etc, i won't do that.
I will just ignore this promo. Not worth the headache.
brettjet38
·3 years agoIt's all about "marketing", profits and the small print...
pjcdn2005
·3 years ago@rocketscollectibles
Is anything that you listed or was relisted since March 8 been sold? That's what you should be getting the promotion discount on.
rocketscollectibles
OP3 years agoNothing. And its probably all calculated from eBay. From experience in trading cards it's rare to sell under 30-days. When you do, most of time it's because you underpriced. Most people in this market will list market price or even overprice and sit until the right buyer show up. eBay probably try in an hidden and manipulative way to solicitate people to list cheaper to sell faster. That 30-days criteria knowing that the market probably have an average of 45-90 days to sell, it's sus and seems very calculated. This promo seems very good at first but is actually very bad. People running weekly auctions are the only ones who will really gain from it, and again, probably calculated from eBay, this promo is made to solicitate us to sell faster. Nothing else.
pjcdn2005
·3 years ago@ricarmic
The last promo used those same terms but you received the discount on gtc items that renewed during the promo period so I would think that the same thing applies to this promo. I remember discussing it on the board.
ricarmic
·3 years ago@pjcdn2005 I haven't looked back, but I can see where this one might be different because it lasts a long time, the other one was a shorter one it was only a "couple" weeks, ie no GTCs would roll over more than once during the promotion, they will with this one as it lasts till fall.
I might be wrong but it looks to me like they want to reward "new" listings moreso with this one, assuming it works the way they wrote which we know isn't always the case!!
regs43
·3 years agoare you eligible? is your account in good standing? maybe thats the issue.
Your posting here with an account with no items for sale so cant look at your listings to help otherwise
rocketscollectibles
OP3 years agoYes i'm eligible. It's on my selling account. I received the message from eBay in my inbox, it included:
Effective March 8, 2023, you are eligible for a promotional final value fee rate for Trading Cards of 10.5% for non-store subscribers and 9.5% for store subscribers until September 30, 2023.
Today again i checked sales i did and i'm still paying 12%. It's also listed in eligible category. Toys & hobbies > Collectible card games > CGC individual cards.
No mistakes on my own i just don't receive the discount. I'll see eventually if they must be relisted/renewed to receive it. I guess this is what happen.
regs43
·3 years agojust becasue you recieve the email doesnt mean you are eligible if you also don't meet selling standards
"(ii) meet eBay’s minimum seller performance standards. Please sign in to My eBay and view your Seller Dashboard to verify whether your account is currently meeting the standards."
Are you in good standing?
Other then that being the reason I don't know what else could be the issue, you might need to talk to ebay and have them look into it
regs43
·3 years agoMine is applying to EVERY item in the Trading card category, not things I just recently listed. Something listed Jan 29, 2023 sold today and I got the discount
regs43
·3 years agoMy promotions working fine and has applied to all my sales listed in the trading cards category. Other items in my store not in that category dont get the discount. Are your items listed in the correct category?
Also is this a thing where Quebec might not apply? I don't know what the rules for Quebec and discount/coupons etc are, just a thought?
femmefan1946
·3 years ago@devon@ebay
What has rocket missed?
devon@ebay
Hi @femmefan1946! Normally with most of our listing promotions, to qualify, the listings would have to be new ones created during the dates of the promotion and would not take effect on listings that were made previous to the start of the promotion.
lotzofuniquegoodies
·3 years ago@devon@ebay
@rocketscollectibles
Would that include GTC rolled over listings &/or items ended and then using sell similar as long as they are in the correct category. When I tested the promo (I did not receive in emails) I was given the option to create a listing but there was no option to actually activate the promotion and it does not show up as an active promotion on my hub page.
And does "Normally" mean unless otherwise noted in the requirements? Often a lawyer on retainer is required to translate some of these limited time special offers. They also either do not show up in eBay mail or if they do it is close to the tail end of the promotion. They are more likely to show up in a sellers outside email system.

·3 years agoIt seems to me that the last fvf promo also stated that it was not for items that relisted during the promo period. But it was confirmed by at least one person that they did get the promo rate for a gtc listing that renewed during the promotion time frame. Any other fvf promo has also worked like that.
brettjet38
