Understanding Shipping Labels and Billing
If you chose not to use a shipping label that you printed due to an error in it and print a new one will you be billed for the first one too? Or are they only billed once you get them scanned at the post office. If you don't use a label do you need to seek a refund or is it just not billed in the first place?

@devon@ebay What happened to the void function with ebay labels? This is a requirement for creating labels and is still possible with any other shipping service.

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies ! Just as @jtg204 shared, with UPS and Canada Post labels purchased through eBay, they are only shared if they have been used.

·1 month ago@devon@ebay The void function is a request one should be able to use when they create a label and know it is either spoiled or NOT going to be used and the procedure used at CP/UPS/Fedex. Wait and see, not so much. As others have mentioned there have been users charged for a second label that was used. There is still limited consistency on how long billing of labels will take and still nothing addressing revised bills + secondary bill extra charges. (Prior to August 2025) most sellers were rarely getting these modified bills. After that it became almost routine.

·1 month agoWe still don't know what to do when UPS charges them anyways though.
They are not used/scanned but the tracking for the labels change to 'in transit' and they are charged through eBay.
Example: https://community.ebay.ca/forum/selling-24/topic/ebay-charged-me-for-an-unused-ups-shipping-label-overcharged-for-fedex-label-3650/

·1 month agoIf you select 'Cancel label' from the actions menu for the label (UPS/Canada Post) you will get this message:
https://www.ebay.ca/ship/labels/seller-hub
They should not be charged, but they may be. There have been several cases reported in this forum and other platforms where unused UPS labels are charged later.

OP1 month agoWhen I go to cancel I Get,
"This shipping label does not need to be voided because we'll charge you only once the shipping label has been used."
I hope it is correct.
