UPS claim paid out to ebay?
Summary: cobra.zartan is experiencing difficulties with a missing item claim involving UPS and eBay. Despite UPS confirming the claim was paid, eBay asserts they haven't received the funds and requires written proof, which UPS is unwilling to provide. cobra.zartan describes being caught in a cycle of unhelpful customer support from both companies. Other participants suggest obtaining documentation from UPS and share past experiences of similar issues with eBay/UPS processes. Suggestions include using email for claims handling rather than phone calls.
Ive been dealing with ebay/ups for a missing item I sent back in July, UPS finally agreed the package is missing and my claim has been paid but ive yet to be reimbursed. UPS continues to pass me around from dept to dept with no one really willing to help because it's an international package and they just continue to tell me the claim has been paid to ebay. Ebay customer service says they have not recieved the money and to call ups back and get something in writing before they will investigate. Has anyone been through anything similar? Each time I have to call its hours on the phone and I still get nothing.

·1 week agoI think the right thing to do is to get the statement in writing (verbal confirmation is not going to cut it, as proof). Do you have an account with UPS? They can send you such confirmation of payment via email, which then you can forward to eBay.

·1 week ago@john_koenig99 The conflict is getting caused (in majority of cases) anything sent UPS with the eBay account. That's what causes the annoying back and forth with no one clearing confirming who is responsible to take ownership of the situation. It's been a long time issue where when things go off the rails (INR/Damaged/Late) as per eBay issue refund and end of story. Without the cooperation(eBay/Buyer) and specific details it makes it very challenging to complete any kind of claim to make the seller whole. Once buyer gets their money back they figure their job is done they drop off the radar.

OP1 week ago · EditedUPS will provide me with nothing unfortunately. Claims will pass me off onto someone else who just gives me the customer number for ups in general and its a vicious circle all because it was an international package going from canada to the usa. Ebay has washed their hands unless I can provide anything in writing. At this point I am out the item, the money I had to refund to the customer and a huge amount of time.

·1 week agoAre there any steps mentioned in this older thread that might be different than how you've tried contacting them?

·1 week agoGood find. It seems that the key is contacting UPS customer service by email, and ask them to open the claim for you; not claiming it yourself, because the label was purchased through eBay.

OP6 days agoLooks like email might have worked, they are going to put a stop payment request on the money sent to ebay and mail me a cheque. Hopefully this is the last ill have to contact them.
