UPS item "pending release from a Government Agency" since April 9th

As the title says... I sold a video game to an American buyer last month, purchased the UPS shipping label through Ebay, and the item has been stuck in Lachine for over a month. I've contacted UPS, and they said all the documents were correct. I also contacted Ebay, and the agent said I wouldn't be at fault in the event of a dispute. The buyer hasn't contacted me, and I'm honestly embarassed to contact him. Another US-bound item I sold recently through EIS went through finest kind, as did something I sold on another platform and shipped to the states via Chit-Chats, so this seems exceptionally strange.
Anyone else experience anything similar recently?

·2 months agoTracking only shows where an item has been, not where it actually is. There may have been some sort of glitch that prevented the tracking information from the United States to show up after the item left Lachine.
Sometimes checking the tracking information on a third-party site (I like Parcelsapp) will show information that doesn’t appear on eBay or the carriers’ websites.
Personally, I’d just leave things alone and not contact the buyer unless they contact you. Keep in mind that the CSR you spoke to is off the mark; you will likely be considered responsible for a full refund should the buyer file a non-delivery case.

OP2 months agoIt's had "warehouse scan" status updates almost every day (except last week, where it only got scanned on Friday), so I don't think it's moved out of Quebec.

The "pending release from a government agency" message perplexes me because, as far as I know, there's no Canadian government agency that would be handling the item. Canada Border Services does not inspect outbound items. It's the job of US Customs and Border Protection to inspect them once they reach the US.
I think the video game has made it to the US and you're seeing automatic updates that have misidentified the location of the "scan".
