UPS label overcharges
Summary: Participants discussed issues with overcharging on UPS shipping labels purchased through eBay. lotzofuniquegoodies and deewaan111 shared experiences of being charged significantly more than expected, with discrepancies between the quoted and final charges. lotzofuniquegoodies suggested that discrepancies may arise from different account numbers or rates applied by UPS. deewaan111 expressed frustration with UPS's customer service, advocating for using Canada Post or FedEx instead. Some participants hinted that eBay's shipping rates appear as teaser prices that may differ later.
Just checked my UPS charges that came out of my account today and everyone one of them was overcharged from the original shipping labels I puchased. In most cases it was under a dollar but 2 of them I had going to the eIS hub in Mississauga were overcharged by 8.76 each.
Anyone else having this problem?

·1 month agoI was just charged $121 by UPS for a shipping label here in Canada. The shipping label I purchased from eBay was $28. Weight and size entered were correct. Neither eBay or UPS will do anything for me. So what I got paid is gone and I lose an additional $42 on top of it. I suggest no one trusts eBay shipping labels and never use UPS for your shipping.

On the label you purchased for UPS it should have an account number. Is it the same account number for other UPS labels you've purchased recently? There are 2 account numbers in play with CP when it comes to hub and regular. The hub rate has a higher(better) discount. This could be the issue in your situation.

·1 month ago · EditedI don’t see an account number on the UPS label. And it’s been months since I purchased one before this one. I rarely use UPS because they have terrible customer service, lose packages and overcharge. I’ll never use them again. Canada Post and FedEx from now on. The package was shipped to B.C. From Manitoba. No reason for the extra charges but greed.

The rate shown when creating a label with ebay labels should be accurate.....As long as the info is entered in physically and correctly. To call it an estimate and most likely changeable is a bait and switch. Secondly the final bill should come with a detailed explanation of the charges....ALL parts of it. Rate, Discount, Fuel, Tax and Surcharges. Even more important when it magically arrives audited/amended/increased and/or even decreased.

·1 month agoeBay shipping rates are teaser prices. If you print from UPS Shipping directly, they don't overcharge randomly -- never seen it happen.

·1 month agoSo listing the shipping label discounted to $28.56 and then charging me $121.25 for the label isn’t overcharging? Just a tease.

·11 months agoI had a UPS also charged more during the strike, again under 1.00 dollar difference but kinda frustrating when you look and tell a customer a price and it changes and my package is no where near the 1kg limit lol was like 30grams.

·11 months agoThe same thing happened to me during the last strike. I had not bought any labels from UPS prior, so I don't know if that's a regular thing from them. I guess that they saw increased purchases from eBay and figured that most people wouldn't fight a 1-2 dollar upcharge.

·11 months agoI actually also just noticed that I was overcharged on a UPS label today. For a label purchased October 14th that I forgot about and didn't even realize I hadn't been charged for yet. Originally paid $11.76 on October 14th but billed today for $12.31.
It's less than a dollar difference so I'm not going to waste any time or effort complaining about it to eBay, but if this was the result of price increases between the time of label purchase and billing it sure would be nice if eBay could bill us for UPS labels sooner than two weeks after the fact...

@devon@ebay Is ebay able to address this issue officially? It seems like with especially UPS/Fedex Canada charges best case scenario are estimates only. The bigger problem happens when the revised bill eventually arrives and there isn't a detailed explanation to what is causing the upcharge? If, on occasion they are price increases, billing should be based on the date the shipment was created vs being charged on a price increase/revised fuel surcharge rate after the fact. (Down the road). There is still limited consistency on how long ebay labels take to process.

·11 months agoSo far I haven't received an address correction fee from Click Ship for my UPS labels to the hub (crossing fingers). I plan on only using Canada Post for shipments to the hub until I see the address issue fixed though.

·11 months agoJust checked too...looks like UPS increased prices in general?
If you try to buy another label, does it give the old estimate or the large increase?
UPS label I 'printed' Oct 13th was estimated at $12.66, and charge today for it was $13.45 (Wpg MB -> Moose Jaw SK)
If I were to get another label, ebay labels is showing $13.45.
Labels 'printed' Sept 29/Oct 4 didn't have the increase, both charged Oct 15, but new labels are about a dollar more for same packages.
Side note: ebay.ca includes label dimensions entered on label details now, no more switching to .com to check dimensions entered! (doesn't show the new dimensions upsized/downsized by ebay/CP actually generated on the label though)

·11 months agoUPS announced sometime back about increased fees/surcharges or whatever it was labeled as(I can't remember how the increased charges were designated). It was at that time that I chose to no longer consider UPS as an option to Canada Post...

·1 month agoThey shouln't increase from the prices shown when the label was used. Class-action lawsuit, if they've done this to a lot of people.

·11 months agoHmm. I've heard reports of UPS "not recognizing" the address to the eIS hub. Look at the tracking numbers for the ones you were overcharged on - is there any notes on the tracking that say anything like "address correction" or similar? I'm wondering if the upcharges were address correction fees.
snuggletumbletoys
OP11 months agoNo I haven't had any issue with regards to USP delivering to hub. They have all arrived without issue. No mention of address correction. So I don't think that is the problem.
