Doing some adjustments to my US selling - moving some listings to .com in certain categories with my own DDP flat rate shipping - and running numbers. Interesting that now USPS is raising rates, CP tracked packet USA puts us pretty much on par for shipping costs of USPS for items under 8 ounces and close up to a pound. So if your listing on .com and are willing to eat the 10% tariff you're pretty much there with US sellers regarding shipping costs, and that's if US sellers are passing on their USPS discount. Their shipping is higher than CP tracked packet USA if they aren't. Obviously I'm not putting anything on .com that hits regulatory hurdles which is a whole different story.
So - eBay: GET RID OF THE LIES REGARDING FEES BEING CHARGED AT DELIVERY. Give us a chance!
If eBay doesn't listen I think getting some level of government intervention involved is going to be needed - or perhaps a class action process. Our economic activity generates as much employment (~339,000 jobs) in Canada as other major sectors. Stop ignoring us.

·1 month agoI'm very angry today (at Stallion actually). Some of my items are without tariffs, if the right HTS is used.
I set up an item that should not have tariffs and no matter what I did to try and get it to approve classification it either came back as a "gold coin" (which it isn't) or a coin which is not legal tender (which it is). I went ahead and shipped with what it forced me to accept even though I tried 5 times to reclassify (at 0.40 each time, just to get the same results over and over again even though I tried changing the customs description wording).
I ended up shipping it, $5 in tariffs. It's not too much, but it's supposed to be zero. I opened a ticket with stallion to update my product with the correct HTS code (so there's no tariffs the next time I ship something like that).
On the subject of your post though (sorry that was just a vent), some of my items are without tariffs, so for eBay to keep telling buyers they are paying tariffs is a lie anyway, not only are they prepaid, but the tariff rate is zero on certain things, and that's not under consideration.

Is eBay able to officially address and correct the warning buyers are still getting that is not accurate when sellers are able to pay on their behalf? This is causing Canadian sellers to have US buyers run away vs completing their purchase.

·1 month agoI have heard that they were testing a pilot program in India and China to take the warnings off listings for sellers who ship DDP but if the customer gets fined the seller would face big penalties.
They havent implemented it in Canada yet because Canada is less profitable is my guess.
Same reason why ebay and many companies are shifting all of their moderation and customer service to AI and foreign call centres. Its about saving a buck, even if it makes the user experience less satisfactory.

Sad that you and others posted about this being a nuisance since mid 2025 and the chatbot response farther down. With no real follow up from eBay to address since then. See attached. Couldn't it be addressed by adding "may" be applicable? Oops. I suggested that previously. Ohhhh, nevermind!!!!

·1 month agoEBay is trying to strong arm sellers into using the slow, expensive, restrictive EIS program.
Chit chats, stallion express, swiftpost, net parcel, Canada post+ zonos are all better options.
Using those superior options doesn’t take away the bogus eBay warning tho.

But I refuse to pay the taxes of another nation- especially since those tariffs are likely to be declared illegal.
YMMV.
Nor will I raise my prices to my overseas and Canadian customers to cover the cost of paying US taxes that the US buyer should be paying.

OP1 month agoI totally agree - these .com listings exclude all other countries including Canada so I'm not up charging. I am not at this time adding in the tariff cost to the shipping as I want to stay competitive - the very favorable exchange rate helps currently. This is down to a fundamental economic issue where sales haven't recovered to where I want them to be so I'm trying this particular avenue. As well I am now using 5 different selling platforms whereas previous to August 2025 I only sold on eBay.

OP1 month agoSo many label providers now have the ability to ship DDP without their own backend processing - they have a field to enter your Zonos key and bill the DDP direct to your own Zonos account. WTF hasn't eBay implemented this to verify if sellers can ship DDP? the flow is there for international label purchasing via CP - tweak it to comply and add the zonos API key entry! Get rid of those terrible extra fee warnings!

·1 month ago · EditedI lost 50% of my business because of that fake warning. All my listings display a banner saying there will be no additional charge, because what I sell is tariff exempt. Still, people steadily asking me, if they have to pay the tariff, or not.
