When Will eBay Re-Enable Canada Post Shipping to the U.S.?
Summary: The discussion centers around the issues with shipping options for Canadian sellers on eBay, specifically the disablement of Canada Post for shipping to the U.S. Participants express frustration over the inability to print labels and discuss alternatives such as Chitchats and other services. A recommendation is made for Canadian sellers to consider discount preferences and to avoid using certain services like EIS due to high costs and inefficiencies. Additionally, there's a warning about the exorbitant brokerage fees charged by UPS for small purchases, which a participant plans to report to consumer protection authorities.
Hey guys!
Since around August, every time I get a U.S. order I see this notice:
“Due to changes in U.S. customs regulations, all Canada Post services to the U.S. and Puerto Rico are temporarily disabled.”
I’m wondering if eBay has provided any timeline on when this will be re-enabled?
Paying duties and printing lables via Canada Post not only expensive, but also very inconvenient. I hope the original Canada Post (usa) shipping serviec will be restored.

·3 days agoJust a note to everyone, you may want to let any American buyers know that UPS charges extremely high brokerage fees for even small purchases. I bought a $7 small item from a Canadian dealer and I knew the tariff fee was only 70 cents but because UPS delivered it they were asking for $36.70 to release the parcel!! That is an extremely unreasonable collection fee for a $7 purchase. If you ask me it borders on criminal that UPS charges such fees and I plan on reporting them to the Consumer protection agency.

OP6 months agoOk. Since there is no hope for ebay to reinstate Canada Post lable print to U.S. addresses.... what are the options? Where can we buy the cheapest Canada Post lables - I am thinking possibly ShipStation?
Tracked Packet LITE offered incredible rates ($7-$9)... now buying regular tracked packet lables via Canada Post is like $15.
Where can we buy resonably priced lables there days?
marnotom!
·6 months agoWhat's Tracked Packet Lite? Canada Post offered a "Light Packet" service some years ago for international shipments, but it was untracked. Are you thinking of the eBay-exclusive Expedited Lite service that's for domestic shipments?
lotzofuniquegoodies
·6 months agoImportant to remember Expedited Lite is ONLY available with eBay Labels. Not in any way, shape or form from CP directly.

·2 days agochitchats, stallion express, swiftpost, UPS netparcel, Canada Post with zonos online with the small business discount etc.
Theres a ton of options.
Chitchats is the best Canadian option currently and they even have an option to drop off at Canada Post who forwards it to chitchats for you for an extra fee.
Whatever you do, steer clear of EIS. The only benefits from using it is convenience and ebay wont put phony tariff warnings on your listings. (it brings nothing to the table unless you value convenience above everything else).
If you dont mind keeping track of COO and HTS codes of your items and the tariff rates for them then you dont need EIS.
EIS is slower, more expensive and extremely restrictive on what can be shipped. It is a program for sellers who cant be bothered to keep track of item specifics on what they sell and nothing more.
john_koenig99
·2 days agoI get that you hate eIS, but don't diss those who prefer to use it rather than dealing with the mess created by the Orange menace.
I sell internationally without issues, including the US, and that's all thanks to eIS Canada. Period.

@rdemaree
The sad, frustrating or annoying part(for some) is that Canadian sellers are selling less to the USA and Internationally compared to pre August 2025. And with future tariffs to other items that will get worse before it gets better.
Since I eventually got the "privilege" of eIS I have had what I can only compare to the odds of finding a 4 leaf clover.

·6 months agoAs someone who has been using Fedex and UPS to ship to the states since the introduction of the tariffs, i can confirm that it has been the definition of nightmare. The worst services i have ever seen in Canada, no joke. And don't you dare even imagine them losing a package, because doing a claim for the refund when the label was printed through Ebay is the most archaic system you will find online. Fedex lost two of my packages late November, and i still haven't been refunded, nor can i get any informations if the refund was sent because they ask for a Ebay Fedex Account Number which is not given by Ebay. Two packages lost with UPS in the last months, and the same situation is happening with them. Its so incredibly frustrating that i am about to remove all US shippings. And don't get me started with customers complaining about the UPS $24USD brokerage fees+the tariff fee, and then refusing the package on delivery.
As someone who has always complained about Canada Post (mainly because of their strikes), you really don't know what you're missing when you're forced to deal with the bottom of the barrel that is Fedex and UPS. Canada Post was so incredibly better, i genuinely cannot even compare it to UPS and Fedex.
flipistics
·6 months agoI refuse to deal with Fedex, but I ship quite a lot via UPS for domestic orders. I haven't used them for orders going to the States in quite a while. Within Canada I'm very happy with the service. I usually buy the labels via Click Ship and get free pickups. I've never had one get lost or needed to file a claim, but they have links with each shipment to a claims form in case you need to.

·6 months agoi don't do the states, just canada but many of my fellow ebayers i see usually once a week at the post office sell to the states some as high as 4/5 packages a visit. Some even more -some with labels attached, some just like me, and use a real person to process my sales packages, they seem not to have any problem shipping to the States. Though they always complain about the process and the software they use, maybe somebody could explain what is happening.

OP6 months agoSo, to this day Canada Post still disabled on ebay ? I can't see as I don't have any U.S. buyers.
dinomitesales
·6 months agoCanada Post is not disabled on eBay, but they have removed the ability to purchase U.S.-bound Canada Post shipping labels, as they do not have the necessary Zonos integration to facilitate it.
At the moment, there is no known plan to reinstate it.

If you are shipping by Canada Post, remember you can print from their website.

And if you are enrolled in their Solutions for Small Business program you get a small discount.

·6 months agoWhy don't you just use UPS?
I've had multiple sales ship to the states through UPS. No issues at all.
Am I missing something?
dinomitesales
·6 months agoUPS is fine, until it isn't.
UPS is fronting the cost of the tariffs/duties with the expecation that they will be reimbursed by the buyer upon delivery. They also tack on hefty brokerage fees on top of any tariffs/duty. If you haven't had any complaints from your buyers then they have obviously been fine paying the fee to receive their goods. But there is a large contingent of Americans that simply have zero understanding of how the new tariffs and removal of de minimis affect them, and eventually you're going to have a buyer get angry about the payment they will need to make to UPS to receive their funds.
While you're covered by eBay if the buyer refuses the parcel (they void their Money Back Guarantee), that doesn't mean it's not going to be a headache for you. You have to deal with the buyer from a customer service perspective, and UPS can actually come back and bill your eBay account for the tariffs/duty that the buyer failed to pay. Not to mention the hassle of dealing with a buyer chargeback - there aren't enough data points yet to confidently say that eBay will have your back 100% of the time on a chargeback for this reason. They should, but the risk still exists.

·7 months agoIs eIS more expensive for the seller than shipping with Canada Post?
CPO+Zonos charges the postage +$1.99 service fee + 10% of the tariff, whatever that is.
And the seller pays eBay fees on that Entire shipping fee.
EIS charges postage to Mississauga + an unknown service fee *.
The buyer pays all import fees including tariff+ shipping from Canada to the USA.
And the seller pays eBay fees on the domestic shipping only.
Do I have that right?
The cost of eIS should be paid by the Buyer and disclosed to them before they order and pay.
*an assumption on my part . The GSP service charge was about $5 we decided in long discussions and was paid by the Buyer.

·7 months agoIf they are not going to allow Expedited Lite to the USA then they should disable it as an option you can select when you are building auctions.
lotzofuniquegoodies
·7 months ago@mcdee3
Expedited lite is Canada eBay ONLY service. Not available to anywhere else in the world. Your best option would be USA tracked. Problem being the eBay discount with eBay labels displays on listing and calculator tool but you are blocked from purchasing with ebay labels. Your buyers will be seeing as a secondary option along with eIS when you have USA shipping turned on. As far as I know it still lets buyers purchase that discounted option at last testing.
mcdee3
·7 months agoCorrect .. should have said USA tracked Packet. Why have the option if we can't print the labels.
byto253
·7 months agoBecause a lot of people still use it as they buy labels directly from Canada Post.
They may not want to offer it since they don't have Zonos integration. Though if you try to drop off a package you will be told to do the Zonos.
lotzofuniquegoodies
·7 months ago@mcdee3
@devon@ebay
A work around would be to give sellers the option in preference to choose their discount level vs a %. A bare minimum most Canadian sellers could or should have access to level 1. There may be others that have 2, 3, or 4. A % doesn't work because the % varies substantially per service.
That way sellers could still offer CP (Snapship) with the Zonos option outside of eBay labels. Disclaimer would be something like CP labels must be purchased outside of eBay.

·7 months agoPromoted listings and EIS are a big cash grab for ebay and on top of Canada Post strikes and trump tariffs, Canadian small business e commerce is getting scorched.
dinomitesales
·7 months agoeBay has no incentive to add Zonos to eBay Labels - it takes business away from eIS.
I would be very surprised if it is ever integrated.
burning_moon_video
·7 months agoEbay might not have an incentive to integrate Zonos but you can bet that Canada Post sure does! They need every contract they can get these days. Not to mention, Zonos themselves surely are wanting to get themselves onto all the platforms. Plus, there are plenty of us that don’t buy into the eIS that still need shipping options to the US.
john_koenig99
·7 months agoBut there are options. Chit-Chats? Stallion?
People need to realize there still are shipping options outside what eBay offers, if they are dead set against eIS (or if the eIS program is not available to their listings).
burning_moon_video
·7 months agorecped
·7 months agoIf you have access to EIS then you have the same access to Stallion, ChitChats or any of the other cross border shippers.
One of the big advantages to these services if you are not local to them is that you can ship multiple packages to them rather than the only one order at a time policy of EIS.
burning_moon_video
·7 months agoThat’s the million dollar question. I heard they are working on Zonos integration but no idea when that will be rolled out. I’d say that would be a lot more valuable than the subpar eIS program they rushed out.
ni-205356
OP7 months agoeIS is extremely expensive, indeed.
i genuinely hope they are workign on integrating zonos, but so far 3 month passed and with this speed rate we will probably see it by next december hahaha.
john_koenig99
·7 months agoExtremely expensive? Not really. At least for the type of items I sell.
Comparatively to what was before, about 10 to 25% more than it used to be. And now I don't have the hassle to deal with the tariff/duties/taxes part of it. Well worth it!

·7 months agoThe only enabled service from eBay is through their International Shipping service (eIS).
Or you could use UPS or FedEx.
recped
·7 months agoUsing UPS or FedEx will result in a multitude of issues and will in many cases be extremely costly for SELLERS. It should never be suggested for shipping to the US.
Since eBay is not offering Canada Post US shipping labels the correct advice is to purchase these labels from Canada Post directly.
As far as the speculation that eBay will integrate Zonos into their label system....don't hold your breath, they likely think EIS is the solution and even if they do integrate Zonos they will likely screw it up BADLY.
I have not used eBay for shipping labels in decades and there is nothing that could convince me that it's a good option. The latest debacle with Expedited Lite which has gone on for 5 months is just the latest example of how messed up eBay is when it comes to shipping.
