Will Canada post ever be reactivated for Canadian sellers still selling on ebay.com?

Will Canada post ever be reactivated for Canadian sellers still selling on ebay.com? I'm talking specifically for ebay shipping options.

Currently all that is availble are UPS and fedex which are almost twice as expensive compared to Canada Post expedited and tracked packet shipping for smaller items. Ebay removed Canada post when tariffs started.

The current Canada Post shipping calculator for USA is not very useful or accurate. I would like to see one of the following done:

Re-instate Canada Post USA shipping labels with eBay's discount
If not able to purchase Canada Post USA shipping labels ... Keep the Canada Post USA shipping calculator, but using current Canada Post retail rates and fuel surcharge. That way US buyers will have accurate Canada Post costs for non-tariff items. For tariff items sellers can add the Zonos clearance and tariffs to the handling fee
If none of the above remove Canada Post USA shipping options from the shipping calculator since the are not accurate

Perhaps eIS cannot work with Zonos? Canada Post gave in to Trump's donors and only allows shipping to the USA when we pay fees and a percentage of Trump's illegal tariffs to them.
Zonos' donation to his campaign was only a million dollars which they would have earned back in less than a month.

This has nothing to do directly with EIS. EIS does not ship orders to the US using Canada Post.

EIS use their own broker to handle customs, they don't need Zonos. Canada Post are the ones that need Zonos. Calling it given in is pretty riduiculous, if CP wanted to continue to send packages to the US they had to get somebody to handle the customs matters, they have never had anything to do with customs matters other than to collect (for a high) fee what Canada Customs tells then to collect on imports.

The $9.95 fee that Canada Post charges compares well with the $25 or more charged by private shippers.

They could have chosen another company to broker mailed shipments, but they went with the ones that got the job by bribing Trump.

USPS international inbound shipments were cleared in the past similar to how it was done in Canada at 6.95 per line. Receiver paid anything owing on pickup. When the de minimus got turfed they most likely couldn't handle the volume.

The new charge is as follows per tranaction:

As of April 2026, the U.S. Postal Service charges a Dutiable Mail Fee of $7.39 per item for processing inbound international packages that are assessed with duties or taxes. This fee is added to the total due upon delivery for items that do not pass free of duty.

See note at bottom regarding anything requiring a formal entry.

Key Details on Inbound Customs Processing (2026):

Dutiable Mail Fee: The USPS Postal Explorer lists the fee for collecting duties/taxes on inbound packages as $7.39.
What is it for? This fee is charged for the administrative work of assessing and collecting customs duties and taxes upon delivery.
When is it charged? It is only applied if U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) determines that the package is dutiable and it is not exempted.
Exemptions: Items that are passed duty-free by CBP, or dutiable articles from U.S. military post offices, do not incur this fee.
New "Delivered Duty Paid" Option: USPS has launched a new service allowing shippers to prepay duties to avoid this fee at delivery, though this is dependent on the sender using this specific service.

This gives the impression eBay went with Zonos or couriers vs mail services based on our CP frustrations and the EU's current system for their shipments to the USA.

As of late August 2025, many European national postal services have suspended or heavily restricted sending parcels containing goods to the United States. This is due to the end of the U.S. "de minimis" rule, which previously allowed items under $800 to enter duty-free.

Just emphasizing part of your question because I think what you're asking about is different than what most sellers posting to the .ca discussion boards are wanting, which is the reactivation of Canada Post as an option in labels for shipping to the US. Canada Post is still an option on the .ca site for labels to Canada and pretty much everywhere else.

As far as I know, what you're asking about has never been brought up here on the .ca boards, and as far as I can see, eBay US and eBay Canada are subtlely encouraging Canadian sellers listing on .com to list on .ca instead. There have been murmurings from the Canadian eBay International Shipping team that they're working on or investigating the viability of allowing Canadian sellers listing on the .com site to use the Canadian version of eIS on that site, but the only circumstance in which I can see that happening is if Canada Post is not offered as a shipping option on the .com site.

So, for what it's worth, my guess is this: If Canada Post is offered as a shipping option on .com again, it will be because eBay hasn't been able to set up eIS as an option for Canadian sellers listing on .com.

In fairness, as .com is regarded as the "US" site, there really isn't a compelling rationale for it to be offering non-US shipping options. Are there still other non-US shipping options available on .com? I haven't checked lately.

On a completely different note, are you getting US dollar payouts, @barnfindparts? There was a question about how to set that up on these boards a couple of weeks ago and if you're able to offer any information on that, I think we'd all find that useful:

Yes same situation on ebay.com US site. Canada post not offered for shipping to US as it was previously. Only options to the US as of today are UPS and Fedex.

Payouts are in US dollars as they always have been and sent to a US dollar account with a Canadian bank.

Canada Post service was never offered on .com. I always needed to switch to .ca to buy a CP label for an item listed and sold on .com. This possibility is now gone.

The regular CP rates + Zonos are much more expensive than the former discounted Ebay rates, so I switched to ChitChats.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I was a bit confused by how @barnfindparts had worded their post. My recollection that while the label service wasn't available on .com, a few Canada Post services were or are available as flat-rate shipping descriptors and I thought that's what they were referring to.

Ah yes sorry it gets confusing switching between .com and .ca all the time. You're correct Canada post is not offered on .com and never been as far as I know.

I should have said when switching over to .ca when I need to ship for an item that sold on .com Canada post US shipping is not available.

At this point it would be nice if they addressed this elephant....pig in the room issue. Having buyers be able to pay for CP to USA but not let sellers use the service sans discount is counter intuitive. And this has been a problem for 7 months.
