To sell Antiquarian and vintage books properly you need to learn all about grading them. This is similar to coins and stamps. Then you will know the values.
There are a lot of websites for that. It took me a few years of research to be able to grade old books.
Most people that don't want to learn the "lingo" say at the beginning of their listing description they are not knowledgeable of the terms and conditions. Then they put a LOT of very good photographs in the listing. Collectors would expect at least 15 photos if the seller is amateur. Photos of any defects and clear photos of the binding inside and outside are mandatory.
Most of the book sellers on eBay do not know how to varify the "edition" of the book and they love to say "It's a First edition". Case in point. Compare the listings below. This is NOT a first edition. In this condition, if it was it've value would be somewhere around $15,000 or more. This could be a later reprint (not 1899) but frankly to me from the colorplates etc it looks like a contemporary printing and not old at all. This seller is selling an INAD item. All Baum books have the original Copyright date inside including the brand new ones. It has nothing to do with the edition or when the book was printed.
If you don't want to go thru Old Book University just say nothing other than "it's a book. Please look at the pictures for condition. Otherwise you will put your account at risk as is this seller. The second photo I've put below the eBay INAD is a current liting of the actual book available on Abe Books dot com. READ THE DESCRIPTION FROM THE SELLER. You could go to that site if you want to gain knowledge.

·2 months agoThe seller is not responsible for the duty, sales taxes, or tariffs a buyer may be responsible to pay, not even to know what they might be.
Those costs would vary not only with the provenance of the book itself (USA? UK? USSR? India?) but with the exact location of the buyer, since sales taxes may vary not only with state, but with county or municipality.
And the federal costs will vary on whether Trump was constipated on any given day, or was given a new goldplated fidget spinner , or took his meds like a good boy.
All those duties, taxes, and tariffs are a percentage of the value of the item. Which to be clear is the price it sold for, although the shipping cost is sometimes part of that calculation.
And the Biden $800 de minimus duty free exemption is no more.
