Late last year, the Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) issued a six-month order that temporarily returned Canada Post services following the labour actions of November and December. On May 22, 2025, the six-month back-to-work order issued by the CIRB will end. If no agreement is signed between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) by that date, Canada Post may experience another national work stoppage.

eBay Canada is taking steps to minimize the potential impact of any Canada Post work stoppages on your business.

We are also strongly recommending sellers take proactive steps to ensure your eBay business continues to thrive in the event of a Canada Post work stoppage.

  • Offer alternative shipping options. Whenever possible, offer alternatives to Canada Post on your listing. eBay sellers receive eBay-negotiated discounts on UPS and FedEx services through eBay Labels as well, so consider familiarizing yourself with these services.
  • Specify your shipping service. Buyers may be more hesitant to purchase an item if they don’t know the service being used. To ensure buyers are confident they’ll receive their item on time, we suggest specifying the exact shipping service you intend to use on your listing.
  • Add tracking to your listings. Adding tracking is the best way to ensure you are protected in the event your order is impacted by labour actions. You can learn more about uploading tracking through this Help page

eBay will continue to monitor the situation and provide additional information and recommendations as events progress. You can monitor for updates on the eBay Community or directly on the Canada Post website.

As always, thank you for selling on eBay.
