Earlier today, the Canadian Minister of Labour announced that he has ordered an assessment of the likelihood of Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers coming to a new collective bargaining agreement by the end of 2024.

If the assessment determines that the two parties are unlikely to resolve the labour dispute by the end of the year, the federal government will put forward an order resuming Canada Post operations until May 2025.

This remains a fluid situation and there is currently no information regarding how long this assessment is expected to take. Until that time, or until a new agreement is struck, Canada Post workers remain on strike. In addition, this does not legally prevent additional strike actions or labour disruptions from the union.

As such, eBay is currently maintaining its existing protections and recommendations for sellers. We are actively monitoring the situation, including the likelihood of backlogs impacting delivery once Canada Post services resume. More information will be available when a return-to-work date is announced.

Please continue monitoring the Canada Post announcements page as well as the eBay Community for more information and updates as they arrive.

As always, thank you for being part of the seller community.
