0 Rated Bidders

I've just about had it with 0 rated bidders who's account was created the day of or just a few days ago doing a "Buy it Now" on my items with no intention of paying. This in effect puts the items on hold for 4 days (or more) while legitimate buys could have been bidding.

I've seen similar frustration with other members as well.

Is eBay doing ANYTHING about this? Perhaps a ban on 0 rated buyers doing "Buy it Now" until a reputation has been earned through the regular auction process? A new rule stating the 0 rated bidders must make payment with 48 hours?  Can anyone offer tips on preventing this?

I'm about ready to try Bonanza, eBid or Amazon. I'm just so frustrated with eBays lack of attention to this!

ebay has given sellers a way to have this not happen. When creating a BIN auction the seller can check off a box that states Immediate Payment is required.  One can go through the process of trying to buy an item but if they dont pay for it immediatly the auction stays active

If you are using the Free Auctions to keep your costs down, the above suggestion will not work.

But you can set your Seller Preferences to Block bidders without active Paypal accounts, which has some of the same effect.

I find that if I send a polite Day 3 note asking if the customer needs help with their PP account, that about half the time the buyer will pay up promptly, apologize and leave positive feedback. The others get a Unpaid Item Dispute on Day 4, are never heard of again, can't leave feedback, and go on my Blocked Bidder List.

My entire eBay stock is on Bonanza as well. And I had a sale there just last month. EBay has the eyeballs.
