10 Cent Day Only for Americans .. Why email me?

We just had a few weeks ago a 10 Cent day for auctions (which I haven't been credited for yet) and today (Nov 7) I received an e-mail in My Messages that eBay is having a 10 Cent Buy It Now day on Nov. 8. Well, after waiting till after midnight and trying a few times to put up a $75 dollar item and always receiving a charge of $2.40 I decided to re-examine the fine print on the conditions of the sale. Turns out no International listings allowed. This doesn't mean items that can be shipped internationally, it means no sellers outside the USA. So why e-mail me? Shouldn't eBay have some sort of way of sending e-mails only to those of a specific country? Talk about getting my hopes up. Good thing I didn't see the e-mail earlier or I may have converted all the items in my Turbo Lister in preparation for the sale and would have been wasting my time.

Did you wait until "after midnight" Eastern or Pacific time?

I think no international listings mean it must be on ebay.com

I just listed a bunch of stuff on .com and have been charged .10 cents.
I think you were trying too early.

No. Sorry I read the fine print and I waited till after midnight (Pacific Time as stated in the e-mail) and thats easy for me to do as I live in Victoria, BC. In fact I waited until 12:15am PT in case my computer's clock was too fast.

You CAN get it listed on eBay.COM for 10 Cents IF you go directly to eBay.COM and list a brand new item there, but then you have to specify shipping under USPS terms. This means if you have an eBay Store you cannot send the item to Buy It Now listing; you will get this message : "This feature cannot be used with this item because this item was listed on a different site." Meaning I listed it on eBay.CA and cannot transfer it easily to eBay.COM.

What a pain.

So if I want to take advantage of this sale I have to close or reduce the quantity of the store item for sale on eBay.CA and then go manually to eBay.COM and manually generate an entire new listing for that item there.

No thanks.

Seeing as how low my sales success rate with the last promo was (I listed 235 items and sold only 30. Less than 13% success rate) I think I'll spend the sunny day enjoying a day off work then hunched in front of a computer just to try and save a quarter or so.

Alex.

Go to :

now in your navigator bar change the .COM to .CA

http://pages.ebay.CA/promo/10fixprice/

The eBay.CA site will give you an ad for their 10 Cent deal which occurred in May of this year. Too bad both sites can't do the same thing at the same time.

Too bad both sites can't do the same thing at the same time.

And which site should take the lead? The Canadian site that has had a number of cheap listing days or the .com site which has had hardly any.

You CAN get it listed on eBay.COM for 10 Cents IF you go directly to eBay.COM

Likewise for cheap listing days on ALL the sites.

This means if you have an eBay Store you cannot send the item to Buy It Now listing; you will get this message

Unless you are selling almost exclusively to Canadians I don't see ANY advantage to having a store on .ca over .com

I think I'll spend the sunny day enjoying a day off work then hunched in front of a computer just to try and save a quarter or so.

These 10 cent listing days are best used for high priced items, listing a $500 item saves much more than a quarter or so.

The only complaint about sale days you should have is that there are not enough of them.

Yeah, sale days are great. An opportunity for sellers to post a glut of listings so that sales get depressed across the board. eBay only offers these days when the number of listings gets low, thereby ensuring they get to make money even if the sellers don't. Rah.

I live for the 10 cent days, and post about 1000 items on thoses days. As a powerseller, I always post on the US site, since most of the sales go the US anyway. Why go through the hassel of using ebay.ca? Besides 90% of my problem transactions are from Canadian buyers. If I thought it would work I would restrict my sales to anyone EXCEPT Canadians. Lierally most of the problems come from Canadians, especially about shipping costs. They just dont realize that for small items it actually costs more to ship within Canada than to anywhere else in the world.

Hey Buckaru, is there a way to track this 10cents sales? i found that if you don't look at the communicty page for couple days and then they'd have it.
quite often there's no email notification.

I agree with buckaru. Most canadians don't even know the shipping costs within their own country and are shocked when I bill them for it. I only list on .com, really no point to lost on .ca unless theres a sale, but I usually miss those sales becuase I don't pay attention to .ca stuff. 😞
