A Liberal majority - you've got to be effing kidding.
I guess the people of Ontario like politicians that are the biggest crooks.
Squander a billion dollars for political gain - and they reward you.
Well, my guess is that we won't have to look at Hudak much longer.
06-13-2014 11:53 AM
O I know hudak is no saint and I would never vote for him either but the liberals have been around for too long with no much good happening.... gas plant closures cost jobs many move the liberals made Supposedly increased out cost of living rather dramatically ...
( sure they are not the only ones and I know about hudak past mess ups etc but really Liberals needed to take a break man ..
NDP offered the same transit funds even a little more then liberals but the difference is NDP are also looking at our students they recoganize the struggles of the north when it comes to costs of consumables .. Liberals in there final platform actually decided to adopt NDP 15% insurance drop which is a great idea for savings for Everyone so that is a good thing .
The main thing for ontario is cost of doing business here didn't really touch base on that either in a really affective way other then giving big businesses money which all parties did but that is a band aid solution to why it cost them so much and the liberal pension plan will weigh heavy on small businesses in a bad way .
If I had to trust one of those people it would of been Horwath not to say she has alway made the best decision like forcing an election costing us 90 million but I do believe they had justifiable reasoning for that decision.
(WHOEVER) Person not party signed those gas plant papers for Supposedly for more seat and scammed tax payers is a Criminal plain and simple .. i mean half of them want a crack head mayor and now a thief for spear head the PP of Ontario .. Never mind parties what are ontario people thinking about the people in the parties there voting for ..
i would not let a crack or a thief in my house let alone run the show LOL
O well maybe the liberals will do a little better .. Although Emotions are not always good i think having a women take a stab at it will be a good think they tend to care alot more just in general then men do
Good luck to Liberals and Good Luck to US ... I am done with politics for another 4 years LOL .

"I am done with politics for another 4 years"
???
There is a federal election coming next year (2015). Won't you have an opinion at that time?
Won't you think it is really time to get rid of Harper?

Based on what we have seen in Newfoundland, British Columbia, Quebec and Alberta... all provincial governments recently managed by women. I frankly do not think so!
To me the problem is when women, or for that matter anyone, as soon as they get power, they change. With regards to women specifically I think when they get into what was considered a 'man's world', instead of staying women, they try to be men and that's what they become.....men in mentality.

Jobs are complicated, there are many types are there are many types of people. It's a new world and what 'type' of jobs will we have and will they be long term productive jobs or contractual jobs, or dead end jobs?
Manufacturing, an area where many people could use jobs and in an industry that not only built N. America but helped us both flourish and people have a chance at the American or Canadian dream......are all but gone. I blame the greedy corporate leaders who to me are traitors to their own countries and people, and I also blame the self-serving politicians who have sold us out. Both of these groups have destroyed N. America with trade deals. Next came the 'right to work' concept, which is basically the destruction of unions and turning people against other people, or maybe I should be more specific 'desperate people'. In the US where people were making 30 dollars and hour, now they make 8 dollars an hour.
People just don't realize we are being set up, moved around the board like chess pieces to the final result that the rich get richer and the poor poorer and the middle class hasn't got a prayer. In the meantime, we are making other countries more wealthy and powerful and some of these countries we do business with are as corrupt and crooked as a dog's hind leg. Where is our integrity? Where did it go? In the US the founding fathers must be rolling over in their graves at the way things have turned out. Jefferson warned everyone, Washington warned everyone, Eisenhower warned everyone and many other warned everyone......no one listened. People's apathy is the power of the rich and powerful.

I am also a "feminist" who believes gender should not and does not make a difference.
I agree. Power equally corrupts women and men.

"Where is Wynne killing jobs? "
You missed it.
Magna says no new plants for Canada, cites Ontario energy costs
"But the company said it’s concerned about Ontario’s industrial electricity rates and proposed pension plan, along with the future of its auto assembly plants.
“I’m worried about electricity prices in Ontario, where all of our plants are located,” Walker told a press conference after the meeting at The Westin Prince Hotel in Toronto. Magna operates 46 auto plants in Canada, all in Ontario where the major auto makers’ assembly plants are located.
Walker said he hoped whoever wins the Ontario election on June 12 takes action to reduce energy costs for the corporate sector.
Magna is also concerned about the proposed new Ontario Pension Plan, a key plank in Liberal Premier Kathleen Wynne’s election platform. The plan aims to close a shortfall in Canadians’ retirement savings.
But Magna said the plan would add $1,900 a year per employee to the company’s costs.
“That’s a pretty significant cost to us,” chief financial officer Vincent Galifi said, noting the company has 19,000 employees in the province."

I don't.
I am not happy with a Liberal majority, but I can live with it and I am happy that Hudak is gone.
I had to hold my nose when I voted for him.

"Every working person in Ontario will have a 2% pay cut when the Ontario pension tax starts."
???
Why is it so difficult for some people to get it?
When the CPP was first introduced way back in the 1960's (yes I still remember that) except for a few right wing extremists, nobody saw that as a pay cut. On the contrary. It was a program more or less "forcing" people to save for their retirement. It was a "portable" pension plan, something you can carry from one employer to the next without losing your rights and benefits.
As we collectively live longer than we used to, we will need more money at retirement to live on.
Two choices: have the government raise taxes to give more money to seniors or let workers, with the assistance of their employers, save more money during their working years to have larger pension cheques in retirement.
The new proposed provincial pension plan does that.
Of course it would be preferable to have a better, larger CPP than having to create provincial pension plans across the country with additional management costs etc... However, Harper and his gang of Conservatives are philosophically against anything that would cost rich foreign-own employers money.
With luck, we will get rid of Harper before the Ontario plan is initiated, increase the CPP accordingly at the federal level and everybody wins.

"Do you understand how many jobs the liberals have cost Ontario?"
Please give me a number that can be verified independently by Statistics Canada for example.
How many Ontarians had jobs when the Liberals took power eleven years ago?
How many have jobs today?
What is the actual difference?
How does the change compare with the national average?
Is there a loss of employment as you claim or a net gain?
Facts only please, no rhetoric.

Are you saying that my paycheck will not decrease by 2% ?
06-16-2014 08:40 AM
I do not know how much more you earn, but assuming you are an average income earner, you will have a net gain (not loss) as follows:
2% from your income will be added to 2% from your employer's contribution to give you a total of 4% in a pension fund that will grow over time and pay you benefits in your retirement age..
In addition, that 2% taken off will be fully tax deductible so your actual out-of-pocket investment in your pension is closer to 1.2% to 1.4% depending on your marginal tax rate.
All around, you - like most Ontarians - gain, not lose.
